orcas are capable of all the same emotions as humans, love, vengence, and even communicate in the same way as us. orcas are the only animal apart from humans that have full and fluent conversations. so i wouldnt say its impossible that this could happen, just unlikely that a man would try to fight a whale in its own terratory in the same way it could fight on land. transiant killer whales are concidered dangerous. take tilikum for example, how many has he killed now?

Looked up this movie as i remember it quite fondly to find it rated poorly and people calling it total shite.

?? Can understand its not everyone's cup of tea but fucking hell, i have no idea where all the hate comes from. i do have a 'holier than thou' attitude as methinks i'm quite the film connoisseur. There many worse movies that get much higher than a 5/10 on IMDB. to prove my point 'Navy Seals' gets 5.1

love this movie. It got a horrible reputation because its a jaws rip-off, but EVERY SHARK MOVIE IS A JAWS RIP-OFF! It's really accurate to how orcas hunt and needs to be thught of better.

Sadly for the movie makers, we all know today (thanks Animal Planet and National Geographic) that Orcas are harmless playful beings that would rather tickle you than eat you. We also know that, despite what they say in Shark Men, the Great White Shark is still a psychopathic being that will kill you and rape your remains.

Sure, an orca can't extract revenge or so we think, but people have to remember their other name of "Killer Whale". While many consider the film a rip-off, I still like it and not because it was filmed in my home province. That's just a bonus. X-)

This movie is damn frightening, mainly when they pull that orca and that baby leaves that way, when i watched for the first time i thought i'd have a heart attack because of it... terrible, but even so, every time the TV shows this movie, i watch it (except this scene). Orcas can be pretty scary. I don't know if they are able of "planning revenge", but i know they are damn smart.

I see them as extremely smart animals, but you are right, they are not able of such things like revenge or blowing a deck, but this movie gave a lot to think about. I was 7 years old when I saw this and so I love this flick for purely nostalgia reasons (well it is also beautifully shot and the music score is very haunting.)

@PREDATOR121100 It'd depend which kind of orca, and if it was realistic or not. Some transient orcas eat great white sharks, so if it was a transient orca vs a regular great white, my bet would be on the orca.
