What's with the term "Ricer"? Is that hate from all the muscle cars seeing the tail lights of an Import at the end of a race all the time? Man, I still don't get why the import community still have respect for us American muscle cars or they'd have a term of their own to call us by right? Ahah.. man, I'd share my beers with them import tuners. I'd probably learn some secret mechanical ninja tune thingy.. never know..
Actually the real reason that imports are not involved in Professional drag racing AKA THE NHRA FULL THROTTLE SERIES is because there simply isnt enough time in the day to include them with all the other racing classes and imports have their own racing series but its not involved with the pro events.....so my point is when you just watched either a 8000 hp top fuel dragster run a 4.45 second run at over 300 mph or just a 69 camero or 70 challenger run in the 7s or 8s ricers just dont matter haha
Jesus enough with the "AWD IS THE BEST" shit. You morons that think that just surf the internet way too much. RWD with proper suspension upgrades dumps on AWD off the line all the time. Not to mention after launching AWD just becomes dead weight, it's pointless to power the front wheels after you launch. Sure it's great for turns but most racing leagues still use RWD. Ever heard of subframe connectors or lower control arms? What about drag shocks? All those mods make RWD much much better
You're right. Most professional racing leagues like to cap down abilities to make the races completely fair. However, AWD is very superior to the other platforms & this is the main reason it is banned from most professional racing leagues. It provides too many possibilities & raises a car's handling & stability potential to something near infinite.
@need2speed94 AWD is more forgiving, RWD is more efficient. In the hands of an average driver, an AWD is far superior in every scenario. When a professional is behind the wheel though, a RWD really shines.
@zyzio190 This evo just beat american muscle on its territory, now lets try tracking both of the evo and duster, id be amazed if the duster would go into the first bend without understeering.
@eamh2002 the duster didnt lose if you watch the video again the board on the dusters side has verticle light lit up. AND even though the duster still had a slower ET he launched off the tree first and because of that he won becuase the ricer still could not cover the ground fast enough to pass him in time.
@BIHxJDMxSUPRA haha just the perfect answer from an american idiot that thinks power just comes from BIG FAT CUBIC INCHES AND BIG FAT 9 LITER V 8 dammit are u kidding me...the engineering of your so called most powerful motors in the planet u use now, germany used in the early 60s...your engineers must have been drunk for 50 years or i dont know. give an european engineer 3500 ccm for building an engine. he will bring up an engine with 330 hp, that will last for far more than 200000 km.
@zyzio190 does it matter how old the technology is?!? i don't see any import other then Toyota in fop fuel where they build 8,000 hp v8's that do 0-320 in 3.7 seconds.. im not American im European too and i like fast cars not over priced shit that euro makes
@BIHxJDMxSUPRA i like fast cars too, i know that corvette is one of the cheapest race car you can get..anyways. the technology of american cars in comparison to german cars is not the same. of course no german car has a sound like a straight piped mustang hehe. i would rather buy a nissan, or subaru than a BMW, AUDI or even a Mercedes benz...
@279Xander as tru as that may be, the evo has a slight advantage because of the 4 wheel drive traction also :/ but i can see the duster beasting with all four wheels being powered by that massive ass engine in the front
@eli551000 yea... he drove the duster well. but that EVO could have gone faster, on top of the bad reaction time, he bogged off the line too. just a bad run.
@bstal247 On the other hand though; if the factory made a big boost ready motor then I think they would be much faster than the small boost ready ones; the only problem is that they don't; and the ones that do are mercedez porsche; stock turbo ready V12s from benz and a big fat twin turbo 6er from porsche; the only problem is that you have to sell your soul to afford the tuning they're way overpriced; but if done properly; I think the 6.3 Bi Turbo V12 from AMG could easily hit 2000Horses NP
@bstal247 Top Fuel is a forced induction engine; also its built to run sticltly on methane; which is why it runs out of fuel in about 7 seconds; what I can say though is this; the strongest twin turbo V-8 I've seen in a corvette makes 1300HP; and thats out of a 6.3L. I've researched it. But at the same time; I've seen the Veil Side Supra hit 1300 and the Veil Side nissan Skyline hit 1300; the only difference is; is that the Supra is a 3.0 6 banger; the GTR is a 2.6L 6 banger and the vette;6.3
@bstal247 honda K series is a high compresson engine; high compression engines are not built for turbo chargers; they're built to run naturaly aspirted; although; if you like can can bolt a turbo on a K20 run it for about 3 months and blow the motor; if you have enough money to swap motors every 3 months sure you can turbo a honda why not?
theres nothing wrong with being turbocharged. i love those turbo mustangs ive seen. they are fast. and im not disagreeing with you on the styling of those zs. i love the sounds their 6's give off too. but yeah, when you have turbos in the vehicles, its easy power. without it though, thats where raw engine power takes over. thats pretty much the point im making.
@B1Springfield You can't put a turbo on a Naturally aspirated engine; you have to rebuild the engine to be turbo ready; decompress and change the internals; otherwise you'll blow the engine. So its either one or the other. And mustang engines don't last longer than 3 months with turbo chargers; a friend of mine did that and he replaced 2 engines on his mustang before he sold it; cause its not meant to be turbo charged.
@B1Springfield By the way; um.......to make an N/A engine turbo compatible; it costs 3500 just for a decent crank, set of rods, and pistons; then you have to seal the block and reinforce it; cause turbo engines have sealed and stronger blocks than regular engines thats another couple grand to do properly; you might actually have to get a whole new block; then have to report the long block and change the cams; along with valves and everything; 7-10 grand; so it aint easy bruh; think again
So with Mitsu EVO's and Subaru STI's and Toyota Supras and Nissan Skylines; the factory already builds the engines of these cars the way I described; turbo ready with a factory charger; hence you can upgrade to bigger chargers cause the engines could handle it; thats why you see a lot of 1300 horsepoewr supras with original engines (though a few parts have to be changed for that; but not by much); this is also why these cars sold for 40 grand new; Skylines sold for 60 grand; get it now? good :-)
For a couple thousand bucks you can run that duster and break parts and have a blast, the evo is a great car and in this race won by a hair, thats bracket racing keep it close!!! But when it comes to the working mans dollar the evo is bust, just to much money to be fun unless your daddys buying the parts, and most men wont be caught dead in a four banger turbo shoebox, no matter how damn fastt it is lmao, rather have a 15 second duster than an import till i die and am buried in my DODGE DART!!!
the evo still has a turbocharger stock. how much power will the 4cyl 2000cc engine put out without it? and you are right about the american way of tuning, most of us are working people with tight budgets. however, for those who can afford it, upgrades can be made to the suspension and frame to handle the torque.
its always the same thing with these imports no? what would you do without your turbo's? i know of plenty of 12 sec american muscle cars that are excellent on the street as well. and it costs alot less as well to build of the speed. if we go by era, well we know who wins in the 60's. im search a ricer vs a car of the same era. well see what happens
@B1Springfield That argument is getting you nowhere. The evo has 2000cc, 4 cyl. engine with 280hp stock. Also it's capable 800+ hp without a swap. A typical american muscle car has double the cylinders, usually triple the displacement, and has only 1 and a half more times the power. Of course the massive torque gets them faster in top speeds but make them umpredictable in corners. Also most of the american way of tuning is more power, which twists the body in time, and reducing it's performance.
What is wrong with being turbo-charged? If Japan wants to utilize them, then let them. It's called forward thinking. Sure they don't rely on raw power, but that is because they don't need to. This argument with turbo vs non-turbo is always going on for decades.
When the 300ZX TT came out in the 90's, it freaking demolished Mustangs and those old Corvettes. It's still a respectable car (and beautiful) 'till this day. There's no need to have a negative point of view towards it.
@CyberGTX09 America Has Began using them Also. IE: Chevy Cruze.... Its over for naturally aspirated engines. Im all for change, as long as Companies still produce parts to Rebuild our old Heritage if we want.
@Ren1319 Good thing for you, I don't have a piece of shit "drag car", but I do have a street car that I drag race. You act like I'm saying I can beat anyone. You're an idiot. I said I have beaten bikes. I didn't say I could beat a liter sportbike. Pay attention, kid. I wish I could ride a bike, honestly. I just don't trust other drivers, because I actually have something to live for. But I would love to run into you on a canyon road. Have fun trying to keep up...You won't.
@Ren1319 So now it's "well, sure, you can beat me in a ZO6, but it costs more", that's your defense? There is no replacement for displacement. You even proved it. "Well, I can't beat a 3200lb car with a 600cc bike, so...I'll pick a bike with a bigger engine." Ignorance is bliss for squids, isn't it?
@Ren1319 Wrong again kiddo. Dad had a car slower than mine. But nice try. Since you can't come up with any technical counterpoints or fact based comments, you resort to insults. Nice try kid, but unlike you, I've actually spent time on a dragstrip.
@Ren1319 Sorry buddy, Win lights came on in the Dusters lane. If you have an 8 second car, and I have a low 13 second car, but I get to the finish line first...I win. It's called bracket racing. Now, did you wake up this morning and say "Gee, I want to get owned on youtube today?" I think you need to start watching videos that are more fitting your knowledge, because it isn't drag racing.
@Ren1319 Let's just say, I've beaten bikes before at the strip. So yeah, I certainly do. But I'm not bragging about my car, and yes, displacement is king. Can't say I've ever seen a 600cc bike beat an 800ci pro stock...Hell, I've never seen a 1300cc bike beat an 800ci pro stock. Pro stock is faster than pro stock bike in NHRA. Enough said. Also, an 11 second sportbike isn't exactly hard to beat. Especially since, once again, a Corvette ZO6 will outrun one stock.
...men quit bitching around.every car is special.i mean i can't afford to buy any, but i would be happy with either a muscle or an import.i gotta tell you though in other countries (apart from the U.S. or Japan)people like every car.how lucky you are that you can actualy drive those brilliant car.peace
all you muscle car guys are just haters. like what like you at the end of the day it doesn't matter a fast car is a fast car. look at how close this race was.... any car be fast it comes down to what you like and the amount of know how you have. the rest is all shit talk and bull shit.
where was your evo in the 70s.and anyways compare the looks of an evo ar any japanese shit cans to an old muscle car seriously the new evo looks like its been hit in the face with a sledge and japanese cars just look plain retarded
@serafin971 Doesn't matter what country or car make it is, all new cars look like shit compared to their older counterparts. Besides maybe the new Challenger.. but that's the only exception.
Anyways, there wasn't an Evo. But the Mitsubishi Lancer came out in 1973.
I love little japanese cars beating powerful american muscle, but let's be realistic, I don't have a whole lot of money, call me broke ass I don't give a shit, most of americans are broke this days.. I have a lincoln Mark VIII with 100k miles, that I bought for 25k dollars, a lil mods were less than 1500 dlls and I have a 400 hp car that runs in low 13's quarter mile, all day long..!! and it's my daily drive car.. ( I have beaten plenty of hondas, acuras, bmw's, and more..!!
racing on a road track? are you fucking retarded? how often does someone in the USA go to a road race? and if you were to street race would you race 4 laps around the fucking city, or would you race down main street to the next stop light? so as far as in concerned fuck handeling! V8 POWER FOR LIFE!!
@natedogg1632 hahaha take it up to 9k i dont give a fuck all i know is that it wont run the same after that lol and why would i wreck it because of my suspention? the whole point of owning an old muscle car is to have it pull hard to the left because of no power steering, having to stomp on the brakes to make an easy stop because of no power brakes and having to muscle the steering wheel to make a sharp turn, so unless you know what its like to drive a mans car fuck off
I don't see how anyone gets any thrills out Japanese shit-box, rise burnin' sonsabitches. When you stomp on the throttle it sounds like a vacuum cleaner. But when you stomp on the throttle regardless if its & iron clad big block or a small block stroker motor, you get a loud roar from the American motor. If I want an economical 4 banger car, I'd get my an SRT Neon! Fuck imports.
both great cars and I would love to have either one in my garage. I still have a soft spot for american muscle though, just the feel that you get from a late 60s to early 70s v8 purring just makes driving that much more awesome!
Daaaaaaaamn, that was close! I'm devoted to American muscle to the end, and I gotta say that the Evo and STi are probably the best answers Japan has to muscle cars. How? Muscle cars were standard grocery getting family cars upgraded for performance. Likewise, the Lancer and Impreza are safety first economical grocery getters in their base forms. Loaded up with performance goodies, they become the Evo and WRX/STi, and it's a great formula. Credit where it's due. Props to these little rockets!
@FraAngelico729 dude you're right; and might I add'; these little rockets are not a joke; All the mechanical components are changed from base form; and these cars sell for 40 grand new in the show room floor; so you get what you pay for.
@FraAngelico729 This is probably the only comment I've ever seen from an American Muscle Car fan that actually shows some intelligence when it comes to Japanese Imports, fair play sir
@BenH333 Thanks for the acknowledgment. I'm just a car guy, particularly of the fast variety. Don't care where they're from. Wish more people were more open-minded, but what can ya' do, right? Nice to know there are more out there.
@FraAngelico729 EVO and STI's are only the tip of the iceberg; Toyota Supras can hit 1000-1300 horsepower without any problems; FD RX-7's usually avarage 600-800HP when properly tuned and Nissan Skyline GTR also makes its little 2.6L twin turbo rip the asphault; avarages 1000HP; stock they're all about from 300-330; but thats because of the laws; the factory detunes them on purpose but they're really built to be tuned; when you have a turbo ready engine; displacement no longer has a say.
@Harutmakina "...when you have a turbo ready engine; displacement no longer has a say."
Great examples and all true, but I don't totally agree with your position on displacement. Yes, smaller engines can be tuned to match larger engines with more cylinders. Manufacturers of cars with traditionally large engines are looking at smaller versions (mostly due to fuel economy laws). But displacement has the added advantage of higher levels or torque lower in the RPM range. That's just science.
@Harutmakina It's also important to note that larger displacement engines with more cylinders will always have a higher potential for peak output. Smaller engines with fewer cylinders have to work harder and often require power adders like forced induction to match up. The fact that these engines deserve recognition is true, but it's important to look at the benefits of all varieties of engine configurations.
@Harutmakina In the spirit of giving credit where it's due, a fine example of the large displacement V8 is the LS7 found in the Z06. The fact that a 7-liter V8 makes a lot of power with potential for several times more is not noteworthy. What is remarkable is that here is a powerplant that weighs less than engines with fewer cylinders and nearly half the displacement and- more amazingly- matches their fuel economy while delivering those levels of power.
@Harutmakina So again, one must look at all virtues of engine types- large or small, 4/6/8/10/12 cylinders, rotary, etc.- before dismissing them out of hand. It's important to appreciate the hearts that make the street beasts we all love so exciting. Let's ALL try to give credit where it's due.
@FraAngelico729 I personally love Apples (big displacment classic American cars 1960-70s only) but I also love oranges (japanese turbo ready monsters). too bad all the great cars are discontinued; I personally think the new STI is garbage; thats why I bought a 2007 STI in 2008 cause it was the last real STI in my book; as far as the EVO, its still ok; but of course the EVO 5's and 6's are the best cause of design and much less weight., So all the great cars Japanese and American are discontinued
@jaysellers011 I think you misunderstood. I was talking about the closest thing to muscle cars from Japan. The GT-R is a pure sports car from the start along with others like the Corvette, Viper, 911, F430, etc. A muscle car is a normal car upgraded by the manufacturer for performance. Think an Altima with performance options like a turbo VR38 or VH45 with RWD or AWD, upgraded transmission optimized for performance, a tuned suspension, and aero upgrades. THAT's what I was talking about.
Why in the hell does it matter who makes the car. If you are a "car guy" you should respect performance cars for performance, not the symbol on the hood. That duster is respectable, but so is the evo. In comes the typical "Muscle car guy". Its fine do not give the evo its due. Remember though. The evo can be daily driven with that power as well as rip up a race track. Though the duster can't, it still earns my respect for what it is capable of. In the end it should be about cars not the brand.
@CES2M3 How can you say that? american muscle cars built american drag racing. While the first races were going on over here(illegal), japan was still riding bikes. YOU CAN'T BEAT AN ORIGINAL MUSCLE CAR WITH AN ORIGINAL JAPANESE CAR. It takes $10000 worth of upgrades before a jap car could touch say a chevelle or charger.
Veyron would be the fastest car in the world simply because its engine, if you tuned it, it would be far beyon any other car could be. the only thing thats probably holding it back is technology. i doubt anything would be able to support an engine that powerfull, you could probably get close to 3000 maybe even 4000 bhp from that engine! just a matter of how to get it without things breaking :)
@mcmanus1806 Or you could do a bit of research and find out that the motor in the Veyron is not some detuned turbo car that is going to gain gobs of power with a tune and shit. They already extracted more power from the veyron. As in Bugatti themselves, and they had a hell of a time doing it. I'll give you a hint, it did not make 3 or 4000 bhp.
@Camarosindahood by your comment I take it that you do not get to the track much. No one has ever disputed properly set-up rwd ON A TRACK as far as launching. It is not hard to heat up your tire and launch a automatic with a stall. The track is bias toward helping rwd cars hook. Funny how the rwd car has to take time and heat his tires up while the Evo is waiting ready to go? Even still RWD cars need slicks to do what AWD cars do on street tires. Respect what the car can do not the brand.
@CES2M3 the reason rwd cars need to heat up there tires, because most of the weight is in front of the car and a v8 has a lot more torque then your 4 bangers. a fwd car has weight to help the traction, what i think is more impressive is a v8 pulling to front wheels off the ground can a ricer do that and actually make 500hp w/ just 3 grand, dont think so. thats why american muscle is better, that evo had a lot more money in it and barely beat that muscle car. imports cost too much to build.
@CES2M3 your comment would be the same thing as saying that a 2wd truck had a hard time doing what a 4wd does, of course there is a big difference w/ the 2 the rwd's don't have the front wheels pulling. you are not very bright at all. auto's is faster then manuals anyways, if that evo could have a strong auto in it, the car would run faster.
@CES2M3 The track doesn't care what your drivetrain is. AWD cars get twice the benefit of the RWD cars, because the traction compound applied to the starting line works on all 4 tires of the AWD car, so that's an invalid argument. As for the RWD cars with slicks and a stall, the people build them that way because they are consistent for events just like this...Bracket racing. Manuals just don't win very often against automatics at the strip. In fact, manuals can't hold as much power even.
@Camarosindahood What piles of crap is plymouth making now? Ooops they are not even making anything. You act as if the Duster is stock and the mitsu is super modded when it is probably the other way around.
MHSRULES... what race were you watching son ? Ever heard of bracket racing ? The Duster got there first and didn't break out, that means he won. So does that mean that japanese 4 cylinder is a piece of shit ?
@vvdublife That's why 2 of the top 3 fastest production cars around the Nurburgring are American, and the other is German, right? Notice, not a single japanese car. Think about that...
damn jap cars there quick 4 or 5 hundred horsepower with 23 foot lbs of torque... if it was me in the duster id cross lanes and put him into the wall!!!!!!!!
@brianlmeigs You are a moron. We can make 1200 horses out of an STi and that is on a 4 cylinder motor. You may beat us in a straight line for the most part, but, try actually racing us on other courses such as a windy lap track. Yeah, stfu. You probably drive a beat rustbucket anyway. These jap cars are beating your shit so hop off.
No 1200 horsepower car will be able to make it on the track, not even your AWD factory pre-riced EVO.
Of course you can get 1200hp out of your 4 banger, duh, it's called forced induction and money- but not without money, money, and money. And like I said before- NO 1200hp car is going to be able to do a thing on the track with out understeering into a wall, you know why Lambos and Ferrari's only have 550-650~ hp stock? That's why.
Oh, do me a favor and google "hotchkiss challenger"
@Vaicurious Forced induction is no excuse when you have 8 cylinders that mind you, are BIGGER than our 4banger cylinders. So don't even use that as an excuse. And look up 7 second impreza. 1200 BHP on AWD and stock chassis. Just has drag tires.
Forced induction IS an excuse, you can have 7,400cc engine with 8 cylinders but have a C/R of 7:1 and valvesprings made out of paper.
When you have forced induction, you can cram more air into the cylinders, it doesn't matter how many cylinders the other guy has in his N/A car, you can always cram more air into your cylinders because you have forced induction. Forced Induction will ALWAYS beat N/A on paper.
also, replying to a month old comment...the fuck is wrong with you?
so evo beat the v8 duster... i give it props... the ricer killed muscle head :P.. But does it really matter if he only beat him by .5 seconds.. i mean winning is winning... no matter how far it is... you shouldnt shoot down the evo cause its a ricer.. and u shouldnt shoot down the duster cause its a v8 that lost to a ricer. i mean does it really matter what it is???? come on now
@Ren1319 i clearly stated that I DONT CARE if its .5 seconds faster. like i said, you dont look like a queer driving a muscle car. on the other hand, rice rockets tend to make people appear a little more fruity
i think if a car is fast people should give props. all this import vs domestic is BS. & for all the domestic fans how many of you can HONESTLY say ur domestic was 100% BUILT in the US? bcuz they usually have canadian or mexican parts and/or assembly which make them IMPORTS!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
all Ill ever say about riceburners, and this is why any riceburner ever beats american muscle except for nitrous btw you people that overthink this,"would you rike some turbo wif your engine Mr.Chang?!"
I like how everyone brings up the technology difference but where the fuck is Plymouth today? The Lancer line goes back to the 70s too and they're still around.I love Mopar the only trucks I will ever drive but Evos are amazing machines.
The value of the duster has gone up every year, the 340 with 4 spd cars are getting real good money. All the A- body mopars with v8 4 spd combo are a great INVESTMENT. I picked up a copy of old car price guide to see how the market was and they have gone down a little. But when the market/economy comes back the prices for the all american muscle cars will jump again.Next time I watch the Barrett-Jackson auto auction I will be sure to keep my eyes open for a tuner.
LOL...crap 30y/o+ duster with 10k in performance parts and tires gets smidged by a stock EVO that can drive itself back home, stop pick up groceries and chicks then go thru road course and snow and win...duster is hauled back home and parked in trailer park on blocks...
are you guys forgetting who won the race??? oh yeah the Muscle car did hahahaha

@BIHxJDMxSUPRA haha just the perfect answer from an american idiot that thinks power just comes from BIG FAT CUBIC INCHES AND BIG FAT 9 LITER V 8 dammit are u kidding me...the engineering of your so called most powerful motors in the planet u use now, germany used in the early 60s...your engineers must have been drunk for 50 years or i dont know. give an european engineer 3500 ccm for building an engine. he will bring up an engine with 330 hp, that will last for far more than 200000 km.
zyzio190 2 months ago

@Harutmakina lol duh, a shop does it but its still not going to last
07Z06ss 4 months ago
@bstal247 On the other hand though; if the factory made a big boost ready motor then I think they would be much faster than the small boost ready ones; the only problem is that they don't; and the ones that do are mercedez porsche; stock turbo ready V12s from benz and a big fat twin turbo 6er from porsche; the only problem is that you have to sell your soul to afford the tuning they're way overpriced; but if done properly; I think the 6.3 Bi Turbo V12 from AMG could easily hit 2000Horses NP
Harutmakina 5 months ago
Harutmakina 5 months ago
@bstal247 honda K series is a high compresson engine; high compression engines are not built for turbo chargers; they're built to run naturaly aspirted; although; if you like can can bolt a turbo on a K20 run it for about 3 months and blow the motor; if you have enough money to swap motors every 3 months sure you can turbo a honda why not?
Harutmakina 5 months ago

VyneBmxJR 5 months ago
theres nothing wrong with being turbocharged. i love those turbo mustangs ive seen. they are fast. and im not disagreeing with you on the styling of those zs. i love the sounds their 6's give off too. but yeah, when you have turbos in the vehicles, its easy power. without it though, thats where raw engine power takes over. thats pretty much the point im making.
B1Springfield 5 months ago
@B1Springfield You can't put a turbo on a Naturally aspirated engine; you have to rebuild the engine to be turbo ready; decompress and change the internals; otherwise you'll blow the engine. So its either one or the other. And mustang engines don't last longer than 3 months with turbo chargers; a friend of mine did that and he replaced 2 engines on his mustang before he sold it; cause its not meant to be turbo charged.
Harutmakina 5 months ago
@B1Springfield By the way; um.......to make an N/A engine turbo compatible; it costs 3500 just for a decent crank, set of rods, and pistons; then you have to seal the block and reinforce it; cause turbo engines have sealed and stronger blocks than regular engines thats another couple grand to do properly; you might actually have to get a whole new block; then have to report the long block and change the cams; along with valves and everything; 7-10 grand; so it aint easy bruh; think again
Harutmakina 5 months ago
So with Mitsu EVO's and Subaru STI's and Toyota Supras and Nissan Skylines; the factory already builds the engines of these cars the way I described; turbo ready with a factory charger; hence you can upgrade to bigger chargers cause the engines could handle it; thats why you see a lot of 1300 horsepoewr supras with original engines (though a few parts have to be changed for that; but not by much); this is also why these cars sold for 40 grand new; Skylines sold for 60 grand; get it now? good :-)
Harutmakina 5 months ago

B1Springfield 6 months ago
its always the same thing with these imports no? what would you do without your turbo's? i know of plenty of 12 sec american muscle cars that are excellent on the street as well. and it costs alot less as well to build of the speed. if we go by era, well we know who wins in the 60's. im search a ricer vs a car of the same era. well see what happens
B1Springfield 6 months ago
@B1Springfield That argument is getting you nowhere. The evo has 2000cc, 4 cyl. engine with 280hp stock. Also it's capable 800+ hp without a swap. A typical american muscle car has double the cylinders, usually triple the displacement, and has only 1 and a half more times the power. Of course the massive torque gets them faster in top speeds but make them umpredictable in corners. Also most of the american way of tuning is more power, which twists the body in time, and reducing it's performance.
ozilevin200 6 months ago
@B1Springfield

Milehighsnake98 6 months ago
@Ren1319 So now it's "well, sure, you can beat me in a ZO6, but it costs more", that's your defense? There is no replacement for displacement. You even proved it. "Well, I can't beat a 3200lb car with a 600cc bike, so...I'll pick a bike with a bigger engine." Ignorance is bliss for squids, isn't it?
Milehighsnake98 6 months ago
@Ren1319 Wrong again kiddo. Dad had a car slower than mine. But nice try. Since you can't come up with any technical counterpoints or fact based comments, you resort to insults. Nice try kid, but unlike you, I've actually spent time on a dragstrip.
Milehighsnake98 6 months ago
@Ren1319 Sorry buddy, Win lights came on in the Dusters lane. If you have an 8 second car, and I have a low 13 second car, but I get to the finish line first...I win. It's called bracket racing. Now, did you wake up this morning and say "Gee, I want to get owned on youtube today?" I think you need to start watching videos that are more fitting your knowledge, because it isn't drag racing.
Milehighsnake98 6 months ago
@Ren1319 Let's just say, I've beaten bikes before at the strip. So yeah, I certainly do. But I'm not bragging about my car, and yes, displacement is king. Can't say I've ever seen a 600cc bike beat an 800ci pro stock...Hell, I've never seen a 1300cc bike beat an 800ci pro stock. Pro stock is faster than pro stock bike in NHRA. Enough said. Also, an 11 second sportbike isn't exactly hard to beat. Especially since, once again, a Corvette ZO6 will outrun one stock.

TrevFredMotors 7 months ago

FraAngelico729 5 months ago
@FraAngelico729 EVO and STI's are only the tip of the iceberg; Toyota Supras can hit 1000-1300 horsepower without any problems; FD RX-7's usually avarage 600-800HP when properly tuned and Nissan Skyline GTR also makes its little 2.6L twin turbo rip the asphault; avarages 1000HP; stock they're all about from 300-330; but thats because of the laws; the factory detunes them on purpose but they're really built to be tuned; when you have a turbo ready engine; displacement no longer has a say.
Harutmakina 5 months ago
@Harutmakina "...when you have a turbo ready engine; displacement no longer has a say."
Great examples and all true, but I don't totally agree with your position on displacement. Yes, smaller engines can be tuned to match larger engines with more cylinders. Manufacturers of cars with traditionally large engines are looking at smaller versions (mostly due to fuel economy laws). But displacement has the added advantage of higher levels or torque lower in the RPM range. That's just science.
FraAngelico729 5 months ago
@Harutmakina It's also important to note that larger displacement engines with more cylinders will always have a higher potential for peak output. Smaller engines with fewer cylinders have to work harder and often require power adders like forced induction to match up. The fact that these engines deserve recognition is true, but it's important to look at the benefits of all varieties of engine configurations.
FraAngelico729 5 months ago
@Harutmakina In the spirit of giving credit where it's due, a fine example of the large displacement V8 is the LS7 found in the Z06. The fact that a 7-liter V8 makes a lot of power with potential for several times more is not noteworthy. What is remarkable is that here is a powerplant that weighs less than engines with fewer cylinders and nearly half the displacement and- more amazingly- matches their fuel economy while delivering those levels of power.
FraAngelico729 5 months ago
@FraAngelico729 Yup! thas why I drive a Subaru yet am plannig on a 67 crovette with a LS7 as well; like I said apples and oranges

FraAngelico729 5 months ago
@Harutmakina So again, one must look at all virtues of engine types- large or small, 4/6/8/10/12 cylinders, rotary, etc.- before dismissing them out of hand. It's important to appreciate the hearts that make the street beasts we all love so exciting. Let's ALL try to give credit where it's due.
FraAngelico729 5 months ago
@FraAngelico729 I personally love Apples (big displacment classic American cars 1960-70s only) but I also love oranges (japanese turbo ready monsters). too bad all the great cars are discontinued; I personally think the new STI is garbage; thats why I bought a 2007 STI in 2008 cause it was the last real STI in my book; as far as the EVO, its still ok; but of course the EVO 5's and 6's are the best cause of design and much less weight., So all the great cars Japanese and American are discontinued

jaysellers011 5 months ago
@jaysellers011 I think you misunderstood. I was talking about the closest thing to muscle cars from Japan. The GT-R is a pure sports car from the start along with others like the Corvette, Viper, 911, F430, etc. A muscle car is a normal car upgraded by the manufacturer for performance. Think an Altima with performance options like a turbo VR38 or VH45 with RWD or AWD, upgraded transmission optimized for performance, a tuned suspension, and aero upgrades. THAT's what I was talking about.
FraAngelico729 5 months ago
@FraAngelico729 ohhh ok thank you for elaborating
jaysellers011 5 months ago
@jaysellers011 No probs.
FraAngelico729 5 months ago
Why in the hell does it matter who makes the car. If you are a "car guy" you should respect performance cars for performance, not the symbol on the hood. That duster is respectable, but so is the evo. In comes the typical "Muscle car guy". Its fine do not give the evo its due. Remember though. The evo can be daily driven with that power as well as rip up a race track. Though the duster can't, it still earns my respect for what it is capable of. In the end it should be about cars not the brand.
CES2M3 7 months ago 19
@CES2M3 How can you say that? american muscle cars built american drag racing. While the first races were going on over here(illegal), japan was still riding bikes. YOU CAN'T BEAT AN ORIGINAL MUSCLE CAR WITH AN ORIGINAL JAPANESE CAR. It takes $10000 worth of upgrades before a jap car could touch say a chevelle or charger.

Veyron would be the fastest car in the world simply because its engine, if you tuned it, it would be far beyon any other car could be. the only thing thats probably holding it back is technology. i doubt anything would be able to support an engine that powerfull, you could probably get close to 3000 maybe even 4000 bhp from that engine! just a matter of how to get it without things breaking :)
mcmanus1806 7 months ago
@mcmanus1806 Or you could do a bit of research and find out that the motor in the Veyron is not some detuned turbo car that is going to gain gobs of power with a tune and shit. They already extracted more power from the veyron. As in Bugatti themselves, and they had a hell of a time doing it. I'll give you a hint, it did not make 3 or 4000 bhp.

duster needs some suspension work, and it would've eaten the evo.....i still love evo's though
oohmammaoohmamma 7 months ago
lol, i love how the RWD american car beats the AWD japanese car off the line
Camarosindahood 7 months ago
@Camarosindahood by your comment I take it that you do not get to the track much. No one has ever disputed properly set-up rwd ON A TRACK as far as launching. It is not hard to heat up your tire and launch a automatic with a stall. The track is bias toward helping rwd cars hook. Funny how the rwd car has to take time and heat his tires up while the Evo is waiting ready to go? Even still RWD cars need slicks to do what AWD cars do on street tires. Respect what the car can do not the brand.
CES2M3 7 months ago
@CES2M3 well, the only reason that the evo didnt heat up his tires is that he cudent! lol
Camarosindahood 7 months ago
@CES2M3 the reason rwd cars need to heat up there tires, because most of the weight is in front of the car and a v8 has a lot more torque then your 4 bangers. a fwd car has weight to help the traction, what i think is more impressive is a v8 pulling to front wheels off the ground can a ricer do that and actually make 500hp w/ just 3 grand, dont think so. thats why american muscle is better, that evo had a lot more money in it and barely beat that muscle car. imports cost too much to build.
memphiskicksass 7 months ago
@CES2M3 your comment would be the same thing as saying that a 2wd truck had a hard time doing what a 4wd does, of course there is a big difference w/ the 2 the rwd's don't have the front wheels pulling. you are not very bright at all. auto's is faster then manuals anyways, if that evo could have a strong auto in it, the car would run faster.
memphiskicksass 7 months ago
@CES2M3 The track doesn't care what your drivetrain is. AWD cars get twice the benefit of the RWD cars, because the traction compound applied to the starting line works on all 4 tires of the AWD car, so that's an invalid argument. As for the RWD cars with slicks and a stall, the people build them that way because they are consistent for events just like this...Bracket racing. Manuals just don't win very often against automatics at the strip. In fact, manuals can't hold as much power even.

@iiMooKeY
Vaicurious 6 months ago
@Vaicurious Forced induction is no excuse when you have 8 cylinders that mind you, are BIGGER than our 4banger cylinders. So don't even use that as an excuse. And look up 7 second impreza. 1200 BHP on AWD and stock chassis. Just has drag tires.
So nice try asswipe.

When I was talking about "Track" I meant circuit track. No 1200hp will go anywhere on a "windy lap track".
so much for "asswipe".

Ahh such a familiar sound.. the last remaining import in bracket racing

so evo beat the v8 duster... i give it props... the ricer killed muscle head :P.. But does it really matter if he only beat him by .5 seconds.. i mean winning is winning... no matter how far it is... you shouldnt shoot down the evo cause its a ricer.. and u shouldnt shoot down the duster cause its a v8 that lost to a ricer. i mean does it really matter what it is???? come on now

@RaptureIZI the evo isnt a ricer....

@Ren1319 giggling like a little school girl when people defend ricers, hehe

good thing the guy driving the duster doesnt have a mangina. i dont care if your evo is .5 seconds faster, i would rather have balls in a muscle car.
