  • The people talk out of sink.

  • It's funny how the bear dog bitch slaps the hyenadon and was like shut up.

  • the hyaenodon should have formed packs

  • even back then the japanese were smarter then americans :P

  • @mkocja5a Pfft japanese people are stupid. Rember this buddy? The little boy bomb? The fat man bomb?

  • beardogs were so bad ass :D

  • where is the man-bear-pig?

  • HAHAH 6:10 XD

  • 6:10 ...

    Get shitted on, Hyenadon.

  • Got it.... the prey animals evolved better leg power but the hyenadon's brain was too small?????

  • @Thistlesifter220 Yep. And coz of it's small brain, it never occured to Hyaenodon: "Hmm...food getting smarter and faster...new Bear Dogs have come...should I change?" Because of that, it went extinct.

  • @Abominatrix650 Eggzackly!

  • how much you wanna bet manbearpig would kick all there asses...

  • Dinictis = my next pet! ( With a little help from D.N.A.?)-LoL!

  • omg bear dog srike looks cute <3 lol i know itas weird but its cute! 6:10

  • Bear Dog don't care, Bear Dog don't give a shit!

Seriously though, he just walked right past the Hyaenodon, lightly slapped him on the face, and stole his food. Didn't even make a noise. XD

  • @MrPwnagemeister Just like a boss. *puts on sunglasses* yeah.

  • 6:10...bitch slapped lol

  • 6:10 falcon slap!!

  • 7:06 Don't talk to me like that!

  • I think "Prehistoric Predators", Artistes and Computer Graphic Designers were mainly influenced by Artist/Illustrator Mauricio Antons recontructions, which look "more mammal-like' than his predecessor Jay Matternes Mural(in which the mammals looked more "reptilian"). The only thing I DON'T LIKE about Mauricio Antons drawings is that he tends to draw "German Shepherds heads ontop weasel type animals like Paroodectes& Machaeroides: THAT'S LAZY!!! NO ANIMAL LOOKS LIKE THAT TODAY!!!

  • Hyenadon "Now see my ultimate form, Horridus. None can stand before m..." sees bear dog "Oh Crap!"

  • 6:11

    "Bitch please"

  • I would like to see Hyaenodon try that with Dinictis BIGGER cousin, the bearcat (Nimravid) Barbourofelis! They lived side by side with the Beardogs in Eurasia and North America during the Eartly to Late Miocene.

  • @oxyaena actually the largest species of Hyaenodon was Gigas. And Gigas was by far more powerful and taller. I'm sure it could take out Dinctis. That's my opinion though, not saying you're wrong and I'm right. Lol. It's all good to have opinions. But there is no species called Barbourofelis towards what I know. I may have to go on the internet to look it up. ^-^ But I'm sure either way it would be a cool fight to see. =P

  • @MrTobyCure Just look on "My Favorites List" Its entitled "Cat Evolution(not in full detail)".

  • And Hyaenodon was around for over 26 million years! So, I don't envision them as Archaic victims. I'm not impressed with Entelodon nor the Beardogs... You Scientists always have the habit of praising a species at the beginning of a Series; only to tear that same species down as "Wussies" at the end... Hmmm.

  • @oxyaena Lol. I like you dude. You're actually correct about alot of what you said. Lol. =P I am not a huge fan of the Entelodons to be honest, the Beardogs are pretty cool, but not as cool as Hyaenodon. My favorite prehistoric predator mammal goes to Hyaenodon. =D

  • @MrTobyCure Read "Mammoths Sabertooths & Hominids: 65 million Years of Mammalian Evolution in Europe."(2002). And Alan Turners "Cats and Their Fossil Relatives"(1997). Or "almost" ANYTHING written by the Late Great Bjorn Kurten! The Father of it all...( The Age of Mammals-1980). Even with D.N.A. on their side? None of the young Sciientists have ever proven him WRONG!!! And I had a friend on this Site a year ago @Dinofelis1. Watch & read her Cat Evolution video & remarks to unravel Nimravids.

  • @oxyaena I'm not familiar with Nimravids to be honest, I don't think I've heard of that family. I may put my effort in searching for this kind. With all the sources, I will definitely find them soon. :) I wonder if we could clone a Hyaenodon???? \=I

  • @MrTobyCure Well to clone one we would need fresh dna and implant into a modern doner animal. Of course the razor-jawed beast has none.

  • @MrTobyCure We don't currently have the "Bio-Technology" of cloning fossil D.N.A. but who knows? By your 100th Birthday you may be "petting" your very own PET HYAENODON?!? But if you value your arm? I suggest that you get a smaller Fox-like Hyaenodont like Sinopa or Arfia? LoL!!!

  • Well, at least a "Mating" pair of Hyaenodon would be able to keep Archaeotherium/Entelodon at Bay from their kill. Otherwise Hyaenodon = Dinner bell for the "Hogs from Hell"...

  • Hyaenodon where pack hunters

  • @XjerichoX12 I was thinking the same thing; Otherwise Hyaenodon would have NEVER had a meal! They would have Had to "pack-up" or starve? Hyenas scavenge from Lions but most times Lions can hold them at Bay til they finish the carcass. Not every Bear can muscle in on a wolfpacks meal. Hyaenodon would have to be social JUST TO EAT! Especially with Monster Pigs around. Likewise, Dinictis probably had to lodge their meals up a tree to hold on to it(like a leopard).

  • @oxyaena the only reason i figured this out is because i heard from my book called

The complete guide to prehistoric life says that "Hyaendon captured prey using team work and advanced skills to capture rhinos and other swift prey" and thats why they have some of this wrong they where actually more closely related to todays hyaenas than we actually thought if they didn't travel in packs they couldn't challange entelodon.

  • INTELLIGENTSIA Comments "Only"? I'm sick & tired of dealing with MORONS!!! I want to speak with "someone" that has knowledge of Paleontology... I mean someone that ONLY WANTS TO DISCUSS MODERN LEOPARDS & WOLVES?!?With chockful of Fossils onscreen above!!!! PUH-LEASE???

  • Also, if Hyaenodon was still alive it would be called some type of "Wolf". And if Dinictis was still alive it would be called some kind of "Leopard". They played the "Roles" of the Wolf and Leopard 33 million years ago... Playing the roles of "predatory squirrels" back then were our "True Dogs"(Hesperocyon) and our "True Cats"(Stenoplesictis). Look them up???

  • @oxyaena u kidding? leopards totally kick wolf's butts.

  • @ceitiosaurus Some folks should LEARN TO READ Before making Assinine comments??? I'm a Staunch Defender of Cats here! YOU NEED TO GO AFTER @sdawg310! Leopards "routinely" lodge carcasses of peoples pet pooches in Suburbia Africa...But I was Wondering why a Feloid(Paleogale) was in North America in the early Oligocene? Science says Cat Evolution occured in Eurasia. The first true cat didn't arrive in North America til the Mid-Miocene(Pseudaelurus). The Only Cat-like creatures here were Nimravids.

  • @oxyaena I'm talking about modern leopards and wolves. So... Who should learn to read?

  • 6:09

    Hyaenodon: That's mine!

Bear Dog: Shut the f*ck up. *slaps*

  • 0:00 even 33 million years ago Dogs beat Cats (i know Hyenadon isnt a dog, it just looks like one).

  • @sdawg310 Don't worry, Dinictis ain't a "Real Cat!" It's a Nimravid. And Hyaenodon = Creodont. Our "Real" Cats & Dogs were still in the trees 33 million years ago, pretending to be squirrels. ( Can you blame them?Especially with a MONSTER HOG like Enteledon on the ground!) But getting back to your statement. How many seconds do you estimate that your pet Rottweiller Dog would last in the same cage as a Siberian Tiger? Hmm?? SIZE MATTERS-not species...

  • @oxyaena yeah i guess you're right i just think Dinictis looks like a cat and Hyenadon looks like a dog

  • @oxyaena you're right, but i wasn't saying all dogs beat all cats, AND how long do you think a Siberian Tiger would last against a pack of Rottweilers? Size matters, true it does and so does numbers (this is kinda off topic). A Dinictis is the size of a cat compared to Hyenadon.

  • @sdawg310 I know what you're saying; A pack of Indian Dholes brought down a Bengal Tiger-but the Tiger killed "several" members of their pack before they FINALLY killed it!!! And yes, Dinictis is "smaller" than Hyaenodon But a Larger Nimravid-Cat such as Eusmilus would have stood its ground with Hyaenodon!!! F.Y.I. Hyaenodon can't be a Dog cuz it had legs like a Horse and teeth like a Shark. Dinictis can't be a Cat cuz it had No earbones and walked flat-footed.

  • @oxyaena well dinctis had a cat like body and Nose

and also not all Nimravids walking on flat footed

but all nimravids walk like a big cats

  • @MrDarkcatify You must mean Nimravus? That is the "only" member of Nimravidae family that had adopted a 'cheetah-like" habitus... the rest; Quercylurus, Barbourofelis, Dinictis, Hoplophoneus, Pogonodon, & Eusmilus had all adopted a "leopard-like" or "bear-like" habitus...

  • @oxyaena I am curious to know if Hyaenodon was a pack hunter or not...Hhhmmmm.....Cuz it would be impossible for it to eat or keep a scavenger at bay unless it was able to overpower it and make it wait. This makes me curious now. Lol. Sorry, I just read what you n jericho are talking about. xD

  • @MrTobyCure I understand your frustration! Hyaenodon couldn't have survived 26 million years BEING A PATSY! Even the Tasmanian wolf was strong enough to keep the Tasmanian devils at Bay until it was finished & tired of the harassment... Just because a group of Hyaenodon was NEVER fossilized together doesn't mean that it wasn't social. They were either Packs? Or Entelodon was EXTREMELY RARE? If they were poor parents? The little piglets would have been "tasty treats" for other predators!

  • @oxyaena Personally, I really doubt Hyaenodon would hunt itself, it probably hunted in pairs if its brainpower wouldn't allow it to hunt as a pack (3 or more). I mean, Entelodons are ugly and rather completely stupid. I would put my hands on Hyaenodon with its razor jaws. >:)

  • @oxyaena yes

  • @MrDarkcatify Actually there were 2 cheetah-like Nimravids; Nimravus & Dinaelurus! But I'm still a fan of the heavier, more leopard-like Nimravids such as the European Sansanosmilus-atleast they could protect their food better...

  • @oxyaena am fan of Nimravids too you know?

  • @oxyaena but Barbourofelis had his own family!!

  • @MrDarkcatify I used to think that, too? Until I asked myself;"Where did Barbourofelids come from?" This so-called family is relatively young-between 14 to 4 million years on this planet. The Barbourofelids did NOT come from the Cat family(Felidae)! Nor the Hyenas? Dogs? or Bears? So, that leaves ONLY ONE CANDIDATE = THE NIMRAVIDS... See how Easy that was? I made the same mistake you're making; TRUSTING BOOKS TOO MUCH! LEARN TO REASON FOR YOURSELF? If something DON"T MAKE SENSE? DON'T TRUST IT!

  • @oxyaena i don't do mistakes

  • @oxyaena then why Nimravids and Barbourofelids did not come from cat family in the first place?

  • @MrDarkcatify Because Nimravids separated too early(50 million years ago) from Carnivore Family tree to be close to either Dog or Cat families...

  • @oxyaena are you ok?

  • @sdawg310 If you think that your dogs are SOOOO BAAAD??? Take them on a WILD BOAR HUNT!!! I DARE YA! THE Enteledonts would Laugh in their Graves!!! Lol

  • @oxyaena I dont think my dogs are SOOOO BAAAD, i dont even have a Rottweiler, i have a Pit Bull/Bull Terrier and an English Bulldog. and if i did take them on wild boar hunt, Enteledonts wouldn't laugh in their graves (Mugzy and Gunther are perfectly healthy, Mugzy just has some skin allergies) because they're extict. but wild boars themselves ARE tough. lets just forget about the Hyenadon/Dinictis thing cause it was millions of years ago.

  • you gotta love adaption.

  • Why do Scientists ALWAYS Dwell on why Hyaenodon went extinct? Every species run their course. They should ask why Hyaenodontid Creodonts RULED Most of this Planet for 42 million years! While their Arch Rivals, the Beardogs, Ruled for Only 10 million years. Also, I would like to see the Mighty Beardogs challenge Hyaenodons cousins the African/European Hyainolourus, and the Asiatic Megistotherium! Betcha they got their BEAR-DOG-ASS-KICKED!?! Lol

  • Furthermore, Beardogs didn't replace Hyaenodon outright-overnight! They lived side by side in Europe from the late Eocene to the late Oligocene for over 10 million years! The last Creodont, Dissopsalis only became extinct in India during the late Miocene-7 million years ago- right about the time the last Beardog(Amphicyon) became extinct! The Beardogs were compromised by name/design: the Bears outweighed them; the dogs outran them!!! Haha!

  • Poor Little Dinictis! I think that the Larger Nimravids Hoplophoneus, and Pogonodon would have put up more of a Fight!! Nimravus would have just run away if it could.

  • National Geographic, I love how you put so much effort into doing this...the animations is truly amazing (I felt like I was there) thank you!

  • 6:09, BIMP SLAP!!!!!!

  • 6:10 " Check your self foo, Pimp slap " aha

  • 6:11 that had to hurt the ego... lol

  • I kind thought it was sad just seeing the hyeanodon at the end running off to the distance as that music plays.

  • 6:43 thot beardogs were solitary

  • lol 6:10 i like how that bear dogg pimp smackd that hyenadon.!!!!!!!

  • how come they didnt do an episode on Bear-dog?

  • @quanguyen That's what i was wondering! Although there is an episode of Monsters Resurrected about the bear-dog, though I couldn't find it on the internet nor on dvd! But any way maybe they'll make a bear dog episode for prehistoric predators later on!

  • When I watch these videos, I can't help but wonder how long humans will last.

  • I wish beardogs were still around, such a superbly adapted animal, strong like a bear, fast like a dog.

  • @EoceneRoxton Ironically due to that mixed build the bear-dog was more like a big cat just like hyaenodon!

  • @EoceneRoxton me too but if they were still here we wouldn't have any big cats

  • Look at the size of the sagittal crest of bear dog (Ampyhicion), it´s just tremendous!!

  • i didnt know that the avg life of a mammal species is 5 million years, interesting.

  • Somebody PLEASE tell me where i can buy the DVD!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I always thought Bear-dogs were tiny thanks to WWB

  • @5aq And I thought hyaenodons were bigger! as for the bear-dogs, google Amphicyon and come to youku.com for monsters resurrected. You'll find an episode of the bear-dog and it will explain everything!

  • @5aq Me too =/.

  • @5aq - some beardogs were small, but later they got much bigger.

  • @5aq yeah, no shit, and the size of hyaenodon was greatly exaggerated.

  • 6:11 SLAP!

  • 6:11 SLAP!

  • God I am so thankful for the people that put these things together. Thank you. It's wonderful.

  • 6:15: *SLAP* My food now bitch

  • at 6:05, that Bear Dog just slapped the Hyaenodon out of the way!

  • THANKS FOR UPLOADING! :D

  • I just watched this on sky anytime!LOL!

  • Bear-dog reminds me of my dog!

  • @ceitiosaurus Your dog's a Bear-Lion hybrid?? Bet no one messes with your house
