WHY DO I HAVE TO KNOW NETWORKING AND PORTS AND SHIT.
IM LOOKING ALL OVER YOUTUBE FOR " HOW TO SETUP!!! NOT HOW TO USE HOW TO SET UP TOUCH OSC WITH REASON. THEN WHERE THE HELL DO YOU FIND READY TO GO TEMPLATES THATS USABLE I DONT FEEL LIKE CREATING MY OWN! IM NOT A PROGRAMER! I JUST WANT ACCESS TO ALREADY MADE TEMPLATES AND INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO SET IT UP
So does TouchOSC simply make the iPad into a controller for reason etc, or can it be used just on the iPad on it's own? I'd actually buy an iPad tomorrow if I could use it to tap around on an mpc on the train to work every day...
Will this work with reason 4? I have followed all your steps on your website but cant seem to get reason to recognize input. and if your wondering "yes reason recognizes OSCulator but no sound, help!
Yes, OSCulator is receiving messages from the ipad: i move the fader on the ipad and there are scrolling number in the pd-extended window. But when i start reason6 and add a new device, reason cant find osc.... osc is always started before reason

@TRaddcliff These are controller messages that control the effects in Record+Reason. I'm using a custom effects patch for the left controls, and some Factory Record Combi effects for the right FX1 and FX2 sends.
nice video, its really nice to see such good information on a vid, the true is you can buy USA iTunes gift cards for your new iPAD at this store, they are legit USA iTunes Gift card store, they deliver to me by email, and Fast, my advise to you :)
@JMoDUB The left rotaries are controlling a modified CycleOn combi effect patch. I've posted the refill on the Propellerhead Software downloads section.
hey i'm trying to get this working with my ipad + reason. since i can't find any oscd files for osculator for the touch osc ipad layouts, did you have to make that from scratch in osculator? would you be able to post your layouts + oscd files?
@thisisRayshawnBenn Welcome to the dark side...How do you like your iPad? i posted these files on my site. The link is above in the info section. I suggest reading the documentation on TouchOSC and OSCulator before you get too deep into this.
ever since i heard about touch osc on the ipad i have been freaking out about getting one, but i'd like to know one thing: touch osc communicates to the mac over a wifi signal, but what if i'm playing live in a club that doesn't have wi-fi? maybe i'm missing something here but that seems like a big problem.
@CaptainErn you can create a wireless network on your mac, and then link the iPad/iPod/iPhone to join that network. Password protect it, otherwise, anyone nearby with an OSC app can connect and start hacking your set ;)
Great work, Scary in my opinion though...mpc on a touch..is it sturdy enough..i know some hip hoppers whod break it??I SOOOO didnt want an iPad until I found about touchOSC, gonna take a poo poo on the Lemur... I'd love for Korg to do the rest of the firstgen electribes too but i highly doubt it..otherwise it-d be call the i-electribeR...
Great template...keep up the goodwork man..been following your work since lurkin on the rebirth forums.
@digitalbeatsyndrome The more i play with TouchOSC, the more I become interested in a Lemur. This is all still an experiment for me to see how viable this is as a control system and so far, it's proven to be quite amazing.
@Zkrudriverz - I will have to agree with you on this - tactile control is still somewhat lost on the iPad, however the compromise is the ability to customize your layout. Something that you simply cannot do unless you build your own controller. With that said, the livid instrument stuff would be a way to go for either premade control surfaces or if you want to build something custom.
@PeffTV I actually think that the ability to use your ipad as ANY kind of control, is what makes this software truly amazing. Need a drum pad? Set one up. Need a keyboard? No problem. Need a set of mixer controls - oh we can do that too! It beats the pants off keyboard/mouse control. It's brilliant.
@Zkrudriverz Ofcourse real knobs will feel much better. But seriously, its $5 or something. Even if its fun for only an hour I think it will still be worth it. Its the price of a hot dog, atleast here where I live (Norway). How much hassle is it to set up with Reason ? I'm gonna try it out...
TouchOSC is customizable. you can create a layout specifically for any device in Reason, however it does not work like a remote codec which is automatically detected. You must manually map the controls. I don't see why you couldn't use it exclusively as a midi controller, but the setup might take some time.
If you save a mapped song file as a template, you recall this file and not worry about remapping.
@surgeyX Yes you can customize the OSC messages in the editor. The OSC host application, OSCulator, let's you map the incoming messages to a variety of operations beyond MIDI Note and CC values. I mapped the backspace key to the iPad. This makes it convenient to delete a botched take without switching to the keyboard.
THIS DAM TOUCH OSC IS SO DAM HARD TO SETUP

@aarroninmyhouse yes, this app only makes the iPad a control surface. There are other apps that have MPC type functionality though.

whats up peff you met me at a Reason event in Atlanta in the studio with toomp and bangladesh... (doppler) couple ?'s
Can that control any instrument in Reason?
Do you have to set it up different for each instrument?
Is it simple to use as far as work flow?
would this be able to be used as a midi controller for reason because ultimately thats my goal..
if you close it do you have to set up the controls everytime?
best regards..

@thisisRayshawnBenn Yes, I remember you from doppler.
