I was there doing an interview with Robby and Andy (Grider) for "Planet Robby".
After the interview, Robby says: "Hey! Come on... I want to show the fans something!" (Hmmm??) "OK"; I said. Off we went, and here he came - running by at 139 mph! I pushed Grider out of the co-pilot seat to take a look at the GPS recording: "139.567 mph"! Sucker never let off the gas!
I am the tall dude in the background (in the middle of the road) standing in the "aftermath"....
I was the one interviewing him back at the Compound a few miles up Highway 5. After the interview he asked us to join him. "I want you guys to see something." That's all he said, so we followed him out. Andy Grider was co-pilot!
The road was unofficially closed down. It was Friday about 6:00 p.m. and locals were on Zoo Road. Never in my wildest dreams did I think RG was NOT GOING TO STOP AT THE SPOT HE FLEW BY! He kept his foot in it and I snuck in and read the GPS: "139.539" mph
