  • Not without potential with a bit of tweaking here and there...

...Anything would be better than the "ring-ting-a-tiddly-ting-ting!" nonsense we actually got!

It's as if they were going for the title of worst Bond theme out.

How they thought they could top Madonna's Sigmund Freud name-checking, tuneless, poncie, stuttering "D-d-die another day!" is way beyond me, however.

...Its an honour to anyones career to do a Bond theme and they should all realise it no matter how big the stars are!!!

  • This is Soooo much more like it, an actual 007 theme

  • @ocwolf68 If your story is really true, then the producers of the movie are... dicks. The song fits the movie perfectly and actually has something to do with Quantum of Solace. I hated the bullshit that the theme song of Quantum of Solace was, it didn't have any class at all. This is classy and awesome... Great song!

  • its a good song but it doesnt match the video very good

  • Rejected from the movie......or the Video game??? Imo its a bit repetitive , and i prefer the one they used, sorry. But thanks for posting.

  • @AdeTheBloody from the movie.

Mind it was a fluke that this even was considered.

Usually every Bond song is predetermined with composer and singer.

In this case the predetermined song and singer was Amy Winehouse.

At one stage they felt like Amy wasnt what they wanted, and just 6 months before the release, or so. They found themself without a maintheme and asked agencies around the world for a proper maintheme. I got their notes on what they wanted and this is what I presented.

  • @ocwolf68 Thanks for the info and reply, I've listened to it a few more times and played it though proper speakers and tbh i like it more each time i hear it to be fair, cheers

  • This song is a much better fit for Daniel Craig's interpretation of James Bond and for the mood/cadence of Quantum of Solace.

  • i prefer this to the main version. In my opinion, the James Bonds have gone down hill. Been a fan nearly most of my life, and i did not think this cut it.

  • Geat theme.

shits on the jack white stripes alicia keys crap

  • fake n' gay

  • I actually prefer this to the one they used.

  • it's like when a band writes a song that sounds like their biggest hit, if they want to innovate they will try and do something different.

    Shirley Bassey still lives.

  • Well seeing as Title Designer build titles to a given song, they don't just say, "Oh we don't like it anymore, lets put in a new one."

  • Also it fits in well with the sequel aspect taking a quote from Casino Royale, and moulding it into a song that would of been the intro to part two. It was a perfect set up in a way.

  • Another Way To Die is good and all but doesn't even compare to this.

  • Bullshit. And the song sucks.

  • great song.Has the Bond feeling of it.

  • I prefer another way to die, much more entertaining, even if this one is beautiful.

  • This is a great version

  • Adelle is doing the next Bond theme, should be good, she has a big voice!

  • @nrjelley I thought it was "push the envelopp" by the asteroid galaxy tour.

  • That's what I call a BOND tune.

  • I bought this off itunes, this dude must be getting RICH!

  • I have to say Chris Cornell really knocked it out of the park with his version.

Perhaps the producers were looking for a different image for the film - a Bond

who kicks down doors, which Chris's version portrays.

  • @delta burke Quit trolling. This song has the music, lyrics and bridge which fits the premise of QoS (the continuation of the Casino Royale storyline).

  • Like for the MK12

  • this is shit

  • Wow, I was expecting to get rickrolled! :)

This is much better, than the one they went with, btw.

  • Well I would like to see some proof that the producers acknowledged it. You would likely have a letter or something stating that the producers rejected it. When did you meet with the producers? Where? Why would the producers have picked a complete unknown rather than an established act like they have always done in the past? Why so hostile to those who say that it's a fake theme, designed to piggyback?

This is why I have a hard time believing you

  • @Backyoubastard

At first, I dont have to prove anything to you.

I have several times explained to you how the process went down.

Do you really think I will provide you with official documents, think again.

You are ofcause entitled to your disbelief, If you wish and that is not why I delete your posts. Stating that you dont believe me is one thing. That is an oppinion in wich you are right to have. Posting multiple troll post presenting your oppinion as facts is only trolling.

  • @ocwolf68

Also thinking that I use this to make money is hillarious. Where the heck do you get that from?

The fpoduction of this demo and the final on iTunes conted about thousand euros. If I am exaggerating, the revenue from itunes is around 50 at most so yea... im getting Rich,

I told you several times how it went down. Scroll down and read old posts. Believe it or prove me wrong, as I know you cant but please stop harrassing me.

Dont you think MgM would have contacted me If I was Wrong?

  • I like this tune..

  • @NeverConsidered

I will comment on this to prove you wrong.

The rest of your comments(from your other accounts or from your friends) will be removed. I dont like spamming and I dont understand why you persist even though I have answered you. Do you really think I make a lot of money from this... LOL

Also, Eva is Not my artist. She is her own.

I you want a constructive discussion, I will have it with you. All spam and hate Will be removed however.

  • WHAT THE HECK THIS IS FAR MORE AND WAY SUPERIOR THAN THE JACK WHTE VERSION IT EVEN MENTIONS THE TITLE OF THE MOVIE THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE JAMES BOND MOVIE THEME,THIS HAS A VERY JAMES BOND FEELING AND THEME IN A JAMES BOND MOVIE

  • WTF????!!!! Why didn't they use this theme? it pukes, poops on, and desimates the Alicia Keys one...wtf???!!!!

  • They'd better choose this song for Skyfall :L

  • I bet they chose the official theme because they thought it would be catchy and widen their audience. This would have been much better - it's not as good as the theme from Casino Royale but it's not bad.

  • WTF? THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN FREAKIN' ALICIA KEYS AND JACK WHITE'S THEME!!

  • It's good, but as much as I dislike the one they used (it's the worst Bond song ever, by quite a way), I can see why they didn't use this.

Not enough bass, not enough big drums. If it had that, then yes it would have been the superior choice.

  • Can you please make this video available for mobile devices also? So I can listen to this great song on the go? :)

  • @nerdydesi

    Done!

Missed it wasnt available in the first place...

  • WTF!! This is the biggest mistake in movie history! awtd sounded nothing like a 007 song, it sounded more like a street gangster movie theme. This theme on the other hand sounds EXACTLY LIKE A REAL BOND SONG! it references Shirly Bassey, Man with the golden gun, has the title in the lyrics and THE SINGERS POWERFUL VOICE SENDS SHIVERS DOWN MY SPINE. Why o why.....WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!!!

  • I don't really think would have been a classic, but it is way, way better than the one they chose. At least it has that Bond feel, with the big-voiced belter emoting all over the place. Plus, YOU MUST HAVE THE TITLE IN THE SONG. Sorry, that's a rule I would never break, regardless of what they wind up actually doing.

  • Thats just beautifull, but I still prefer Cassino's Royale theme: You know my name by Chris Cornell

  • i need that producing software

    its just awesome

  • @HondaSuperSport1100

It is mainly produced in Avid Protools,

This version is mixed natively in the program, but the one on iTunes is Mixed through a SSL mixer and outboard effects.

  • omfg this theme is awesome! Exactly in the spirit of the 007 series. :O How pitty they didnt pich this one :/

  • Much better thatn the dirge they went with

  • If this is true that it was rejected i wonder why. Because this song is so much better and gave me much more Bond feeling than "Another Way To Die" have ever done!

  • The lyrics just fit the tone of the film more.

  • Seriously!? They rejected this? This song is brilliant! And they went with the enrirley forgettable... errm, other one (no, seriously, I forgot it's title and how it went, it was that bad)?

    WHY!!??

  • There is something about this song that makes it more james bondy.

  • Absolutely awesome song and much more suitable for Bond.

  • Yeah it's great but can't you hear it's too Shirley Bassey?

Note that each Bond theme reflects an era - so did the one for this movie.

Yeah fashion is lame but so is commercialism, which is what making films is all about.

  • @myriandore Timeless is Timeless ....Mrs. Shirley Bassey is timeless. This song would of been Top 10 in the charts if it was mainstreamed.

  • Yup they effed up...thumbs up on this awesome Bond song.

  • Why om earth was this rejected? It's epic

  • Not only does this theme have a classic 'Shirley Bassey' feel to it but it also really fits the movie well. Firstly it has the title of the movie in the lyrics but more importantly it's use of dialogue from 'Casino Royale' really ties the two Daniel Craig films together more tightly.

They should rerelease 'Quantum of Solace' but replace the song 'Another Way To Die' with this!

  • Winehouse vocals on this would've been sublime.

  • @leemunday

I would prefer Tarja Turunen :)

  • this its a true James Bond song!

  • Much better than the official "pulling a cat's tail" theme

  • @CSFLChampion nah, this is pretty crap

  • This was much better. It fit. Bond wasn't "hip" like they tried to make the beginning out to be. He was classy and timeless, like THIS theme.

  • i prefure the film song so much better

  • Wow... Honestly she sounds like Tina Turner.

  • This theme is nice and the singer is very talented, but watching the movie and listening to the lyrics of this song. I think the latter was the better choice. musically i'm very fond of both.themes

  • Comment removed

  • Oh my god, this is far better than the one used! Great job!

  • Comment removed

  • The real one is much better than this, sorry. You guys just want a repeat of the old bond themes.

  • Well. This was one of the better James Bond themes that I've heard, along with GoldenEye, You Know my Name, and the original Bond theme. Great job. A true Bond song.

  • This should have gone down as one of the great Bond themes. Easily the best theme since GoldenEye. While I enjoy 'Another Way To Die' as a song, and I loved 'You Know My Name' for the franchise reboot, THIS is what a Bond theme should sound like!

  • Can I use this as an opening theme for a game im making? All credit to you. Please! It Rocks! Shame MGM didnt take advantage!

  • a little touch of Shirley Bassey in her voice

  • That's better that Alicia Keys song

  • yea im not a big fan of quantum of solace

  • Watch out for the giant sand women, James!

  • I also enjoyed Shirley Bassey's rejected theme song, No Good About Goodbye. Does anyone know how many songs the producer typically listens to before choosing the final title song?

  • @jdale1259 I believe the producers stated recently that they don't have much influence on the choice of the artists. This falls on MGM apparently.

  • @jdale1259 Obviously none. It seems they just pick up the more popular singer or group of the moment. It explain why the official song is so disappointing.

  • I think Jack White could of done a better job on the theme he did..

  • @ImmaSynShenron Alicia Keys' part was flawed.

  • @Chester5687 I think they make the animation to fit the song. Not the song to fit the animation

  • @RoyalGiraffe Well if you ask me, its fine either way.

  • Yep definitely suits James Bond more than the theme they actually used.

  • They didn't use this because it's more epic than the movie. I did enjoy the lyrics for Another way to die as much as these ones though

  • I would have prefered Justin Bieber over that crap Alicia Keys/Jack White garbage. The next song they should use for the bond films is Rob Dougan- Speed Me Towards Death. Great song

  • How does this NOT fit the animation people! @_@

  • I feel that 'Another Way to Die' fitted the film much better lyrically, but you both have some talent. I agree with a previous poster; it sounds like some of the classic bond themes - too much so, in fact. You say that this song was already lying around & you rewrote it to what you thought the filmmakers required, which is why I think it was rejected. Better luck next time though, perhaps something a little more original.

  • No wonder it was rejected...

    It SUCKS!!!

  • I would be relieved this theme didn't get on the movie. Casino Royale was an amazing Bond movie, but Quantum of Solace really dropped the ball. This is a fantastic Bond theme and it should be paired with a fantastic Bond movie! Hopefully in the future we will get a suitably awesome pairing of movie and music

  • Much, much better than actually used song. Good job!

  • 100000% better than the shite that Alicia "Shoot em up bang bang" Keys and Jack White did.

  • This is the theme song that should have been in the movie, instead of the crappy song by jack white and alicia keys. I hope producers of Quantam of Solace see this on youtube and change the theme song to this on any new produced Quantam of Solace dvds and blu-rays.

  • wayyyyy better

  • I can only agree... this would have been the better choice. Good work and I hope we can work together some day in the future.

  • @lone1980

I would love to work with you.

    /Chris

  • This is beautiful :)

  • the only explanation WHY Another Way was chosen is Jack White and Alicia Keys singing it.

i too prefer THIS SONG over AWTD. it just sounds VERY James Bond-y.

  • I am not a big fan of american singers (especially pop or soul ala Alicia Keys) on Bond sountraks just the same with him being in america. Just doesnt really work for me. Im going to check out some more of your stuff. Good luck wiht everything.......!!

  • Its pretty cool. I can see where some changes would need to be made buuuuut, thats because it isnt totally matching up with the opening credits which probably would have been different if they used this song or a version of it. There are some really nice elements to this song. very nice Bond elements. Kind of like that song "Play Dead" by Bjork. I would have loved to hear a version of that in a title sequence if anyone out there can match it up with an opening.

  • 10/10 for working the words "Quantum of Solace" into the lyrics!

Great theme, although maybe a bit to "uplifting" for the grittiness they wanted in the film - "Another Way to Die" was awful though

  • Well This is the song that should have been on quantum of solace being a big bond fan the last tune that was relased was total and utter crap, i would suggest the producers get this gitl snapped up for the new bond film as her voice is perfect for a bond theme.

They have got to go back to the grass roots for the theme tunes look at licence to kill what a superb track and did well in the charts, a big name alone wont sell a track it has to sound good as well so lets hope they get it right.

  • can't belive this was not picked intellengently using lines from casino royale and sort of a power ballard like most bond track's its what you want to here at the start of a bond film

  • We haven't had a half decent Bond theme since 1977.

  • @blueboy680 Moonraker, Goldeneye, The Living Daylights, All Time High, Not to mention the in-film songs If there was a Man, Where has Everybody Gone, Surrender, Only Myself To Blame.

Nobody Does It Better wasn't the last good James Bond song.

  • @blueboy680 What was wrong with You Know My Name? :) It wasn't traditional, but Chris Cornell has a godly voice.

  • given I enjoyed a portion of the base from the original theme song, (and I only mean the intro bass section) I believe this is by far way more responsive for James Bond's entire demeanor! Despite the decision (which I like, not that I'm choosing it over sean connery because that's impossible) for a more gritty James, he is a womanizer and his theme songs should be something elegant and dangerous.. You've successfully managed to create that with your superb talent..

  • @Toshmoe bass not base*

  • This was rejected over that, bloody hell, this is awsome and sound like a bond theme. I know they were trying something different but omg

  • My god this song is so much better and more bond than Another way to die

  • The only real problem with Another Way to Die is Jack White. Either replace him with a masculine sounding man or let Alicia sing it herself while catering more to the jazz angle of the song.

  • Much better than the shit they used...

  • @Michaletosjr I disagree, the original song is great, i dont know why so much ppl don't like the one with Alicia Keys.

  • @Michaletosjr i agree, but we all know they picked the song they did for liberal diversity

  • @Michaletosjr NAAAA COME ON MAN IS MUCH BETTER THE ONE OF ALICIA KEYS

  • This is a fairly generic song trying too hard to be "classic bond". A Bond theme should still be able to stand on its own. I didn't like "Another Way to Die" but this isn't exactly groundbreaking.

  • They really should have gone with this one instead of the Alicia Kays one...what were they thinking?!?!

  • When I watch this movie online, when the beginning starts, I switch to this one to feel the "real Deal".

  • I liked this song much better than the one used. This was way more TRUE to the serious and reminds of the soundtracks from the early days. It also had the appropriate Bond baseline. And it was Bond sexy.

  • Music is truly very powerful.

  • This was rejected. This is the biggest mistake in movie history.

  • Was this literally at one point considered for the opening, or is it just fan made and that's your title? If it's the former, I think they made a mistake (and I like Another Way to Die).

  • this is so much better than jack white and alicia keys. god i hate that song

  • i really wish this was the song they used

  • fuckin hell this would have fit well the other song was a pile of messy shite

  • this owns whatever they put instead

  • Quantum of Solace was a major disappointment. The filming was too choppy, it was too dramatic, and they chose the wrong theme. This is the theme they should've used.

  • Prefer this, more fitting as a Bond score. Thanks for posting.

  • prefer te othr IMO

  • I'm a fan of both Jack and Alecia's, but this is so much better than the version that was released with the movie. I fully understand that for promotion and marketing purposes they went for two well-known established artists to promote the theme (therefore gaining greater exposure) but lets have this in the "Directors Cut" eh ? - I may even contemplate purchasing the film then - God knows I've watched Casino Royale more than ten times now (and it doesn't get over-familiar ......... EVER !)

  • Much better than the theme they chose to go with. This has the vibe of the older Bond themes, and I love it! Thanks for showing us what might have been.

  • Oh wow, I think it's much better than the one they used!

  • Listening to this while watching a sunrise from the balcony on the literal edge of the Mediterranean is a nice experience.

  • Chris - you have the music, the other guy has the graphics. You are obviously very talented - I'd have to say one of the most talented people I have ever met. Thanks for accepting my friend request. Had I been making Bond 23 - you would have been given the part.

  • @mrx1427 Thank you for those kind words sir.

I actually have an idea for another Bond theme, but as it look now I have to much work with other music projects so it will have to wait. Perhaps for Bond 24... :)

  • @ocwolf68 :)

  • @ocwolf68 Chris, I second mrx1427's comments. This song is so Bond, and so incredibly strong, I believe it would have been up for Oscar consideration. It grabs you emotionally, even before the film has begun. Now, having said that, what brain-dead idiot decided to nix it? If demographics are so important to these people, why didn't they ask us here on youtube?

  • IF THIS SONG WAS PASSED UP IN LIEU OF THE A. KEYS SONG THEN THE PRODUCERS WERE TONE DEAF.THIS IS BOND.COME ON.WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING

  • Okay, I just went back and re-listened to 'Another Way To Die'. I think that theme would've been good for an American action movie--but this song would've been better for 'Quantum'.

  • this is awesome, sooooo much better

  • Better than the actual song they chose.

  • Personally, i would have prefered this song to have been used in the film. Its got the classic epicness of a bond song and it actually mentions the film title in the song.

  • Apart from the slightly awkward transition to the chorus, this is gold.

  • Whether or not it was considered it is a much better song than that crap they used.

  • What I really love about this theme is that the lyrics actually relate to Daniel Craig's Bond story, referencing Casino Royale and such. It really works well with the rest of the movie.

  • @LukeMM95 It was never considered as a Bond theme, spread the word.

  • @AnimalNitrateInMind Still, I wish it had been. It's a much better opening than 'another way to die' IMO

  • @LukeMM95 I'll give Another Way To Die something, it went well with the titles.

  • I wish this rumour would stop persisting, it was never considered. They claimed this was rejected for publicity.

  • @AnimalNitrateInMind

    That is not correct.

This theme WAS presented before the producers via our agency in Los Angeles.

In what way it was considered I can not say, but it was not rejected straight away.

This is not a rumour nor a publicity stunt. In fact I had to be persuaded at first to actually post it here and it took quite some persuading as well to make it available on iTunes.

  • @ocwolf68 No it wasn't. The song was recorded in December 2008, Quantum of Solace came out November 2008 and the song was announced in September 2008.

    PUBLICITY WHORE!

  • @ocwolf68 That is not correct. EON/Sony never heard this song so they could not reject it to begin with. Please stop claiming otherwise.

  • @ocwolf68 Also this is not mentioned on the wikipedia page, the producers always go with established artists rather than flash in the pan singers and I actually think the producers denied this was a rejected theme.

Besides, last time I checked LA had nothing to do with Bond films...

  • @ocwolf68 I vote this as my choice for actually replacing the current opening. Seriously. It actually fits, as one poster put it.

  • @ocwolf68 At what point during the production of Quantum of Solace did the producers contact you to write a song for the film? Was it after the film finished shooting in July 2008? And did the producers mention the possibility of working with David Arnold (who wrote the score)?

  • @michaelbroccoli

I Was Contacted by my agency who work closely with the movie industry in January that year.

My agency had been informed that they looked for a main theme for their upcoming Bond movie and sent out the information and description to several producers attached to them.

I had this song lying around that I thought could fit well and rewrote it with Eva to the wishes of the producers. The song was presented by my agents and after a long silent wait I was told it was Rejected.

  • @ocwolf68 So nobody mentioned working on the song with David Arnold?

  • @michaelbroccoli

I guess Arnold would have been involved had the theme being approved.

In the early stage of determine what theme song they should go with, I'm not even sure Arnold is involved.

The fact that the theme songs of the last movies isn't used in the overall score as they used to points to that.

  • I kinda liked "Another Way to Die", but I have to say this is better. Makes me think of the Rodger Moore era.

  • I still don't find Alicia's memorable. Everytime I listen to Solace's opening I think 'I really sat through this in the theatre'. This, on the other hand, immediately felt like a Bond opening. I guess it all boils down to opinions of course, so I just won't listen to the one I don't like.

  • I just listened to both and compared--I definitely think they should have gone with this one instead.

  • @DandAinTac If they actually listened to it, this is a fake rejected song.

  • @AnimalNitrateInMind Ha--serves me right for taking the claim at face value in this digital age. So easy to fake that I could have done it. Thanks for setting me straight.

  • Wow!!!

This song is really good. What the hell were they thinking picking Keys's and White's song? Even though I like Alicia's work, "Another Way to Die" is one of her worst recordings or maybe even the worst.

But this, this is gold. Truly Bond. I hope that Adele's song for the new movie will be really good. I don't want another disappointment from another artist that I really respect and like listening to.

  • I have to say, while I got used to Another Way to Die, I hated it when I first heard it. Honestly, I still don't find it to be an appropriate Bond title theme... and then I find this. Seriously? I'm honestly dumbstruck. This song is amazing. So much more appropriate than Another Way. It even references the last movie with the lyrics and fits with the title sequence! Such a shame someone made the poor decision at the end of the day.

  • This is so goddamn beautiful! Not saying the Alicia Key's version is bad, but this just has more of an impact on the soul. That haunting voice is so chill inducing.

  • This version actually sneaks the movie title into the song, which is in keeping with James Bond tradition.

  • .......100% better than the original shitty intro......

  • I have to admit it, the Alicia Keys song sounds like crap compared to this as a Bond song should have impact that hits you in the face from the moment the film starts rolling. Maybe they have learned their lesson as from what I saw the Alicia Keys Jack White song bombed.

  • It ain't a bad piece of music at all. But I would not bash producers too much. Some of you say that it's reminiscent of the old Bond movies like From Russia with Love etc. You are right. But that's why I think it was rejected. You all know that Quantum of Solace is part of a rebooted Bond series. Perhaps that's why producers did not want a song, that sounds much like the old series.

Also, if you saw the film, you might know that the song does not fit its spirit of vengeance and intense action.
