bummer , Disney should realize that lap sitting is what smaller kids preger, they do not want to sit alone on these "scary for them" rides. (Splash Mountain is another example)

I actually just found out that the new sleds arrived at disneyland, but they have a red stripe instead of the blue one in the video.

hopefully the new bobselds come in while the ride is in refurbishment! for those of you who are curious, it re-opens on september 2nd

@meowspots It's a two part refurbishment, the first part which ends Sept. 2nd involves replacing the track, and I think in winter they might close it down again, and that's when they replace the cars.

when i go on my brithday im allways scard to go on the matterhorn becuase i think that the bobsleds will fallapart they keep leaning on one side.

Don't really like it. I prefer the lap sitting also for the feel of a real toboggan and perfect for dates. lol but also the 2 less seats will make the lines just that much longer. Doesn't seem like a big deal now but if your a regular visitor like myself I think it is a bigger deal.

@Jake2254 Agree on both points you made. I think it's the only "coaster" style ride that i know of where you can "lap" sit. And new cars aren't really going to make any kind of difference anyways. Same old track, just a longer wait.

@vegasjinx Disneyland has just announced that they're making a major revamp of the Matterhorn. First starting 7/1/11 then finishing 9/1/11. But then they will be adding a whole new bunch of special effects and animatronics which will close the ride in the first 6 months of 2012. Plus the new cars themselves are made to make the ride more smoother and comfortable. Yes, they're making a HUGE difference :)

@JKalama25799752 Thanks for the info. I was teetering on whether this was a good thing or not. I've gotten a couple of responses stating that it will vastly improve the ride. However, the track itself looks to be pretty worn.(Understandably after 50+ years of use)Is that also part of the improvements? Love the Matterhorn, and hope that these changes add some good thrill quality to the ride. Again, thanks.

@vegasjinx I'm not sure about the tracks, I certainly hope so though. If they put alot of work on the track and enhancements on the effects, The Matterhorn could very well have the potential to be better than Expedition Everest. What I would REALLY love to see is a new paintjob :)

Same seating as Orlando space mountain the only thing is the Orlando Space mountain has t shaped lap bars. I thought Matterhorn was going to get the lap bars to replace the seat belts

@briancalifornia1 Yeah, I think lap bars would be better for that ride only because it's so bumpy and it'll hold you in the car better, but hopefully they'll fix up the track so it's not as bumpy.

@frankie36453 It would guarantee 6 seats being filled. The old sleds can fit 8, but I haven't seen a sled where all four rows had tandem riders in a really long time; thus, the capacity of each sled could be reduced to 4 at any point.
