Playing fast has no emotion behind it, but in this he's playing musically and with feeling. He's got some amazing technical stuff in there and he's properly grooving most of the way through. He's showing diversity and that he can play more than just blastbeats. I mean anyone who can move their wrists or fingers fast can play a fucking blastbeat, for christ's sake.
I have to disagree with that last thing. Its not because you are fast with your wrists or fingers that you can do a blast beat. Ask someone fast to do a blast (and never performed a blast in his entire life) you will only hear noise. Believe it or not there is technique in blast beats just look up some tabs with different types of blast beats you'll understand. Great video btw!

If you have viewed the latest videos you'll notice new stuff, and this video is over 6 months old, in the new one he has different foot pattern and it seems he's gotten better at his latin type shit.
Dumbass, form all his vids you can see clearly that he can play any style/rithm/pattern you want, but there´s allways people waiting for a more "normal" performance to say "that´s easy, i can do that". Being easy doesent mean it sucks..

fucking incredible. this vid shows why derek roddy is one of the best drummers around. he's not limited to blast-beats and metal drumming, but slays at all of it.
