Postrock is music that transends national boundries, language barriers, and cultural difference. I guarntee that a fellow human in japan, russia, germany, south africa, boliva, or mexico would understand it just as well as any of us, becasue no matter who we are or where we're from, we all have emotions. The essance of music is postrock.
just had a stressful day bitched at by the boss email being hacked etc not in the best of moods then YT recommends this. i'm a big fan of "tall ships", "65 days of static", "god is an austonaught etc so this is a great find. already feeling more relaxed as i carry out the extra paperwork with no extra pay -_-.
My mums name is Laura and she's a big influence on my life even when I think I've failed her she tells me I can't as long as I'm happy. I love my mum for everything she has done, gone through, and stood for but most importantly I love my mum for being herself <3 She's very much inspired great things
@AseAsey Post-rock. Some other good bands (in my opinion) would be "Ifthesetreescouldtalk", "Helios", "Godisanstronaut" and "TheEvpatoriaReport". Hope this helps.
@shadowstation I want to add some "bigger names" to introduce you post-rock: "Godspeed You! Black Emperor", "This Will Destroy You", "65daysofstatic", "Balmorhea" (listen to "Truth"!), "Alex & Jonsi" (I dont like "Sigur Ros" that much but this project is incredible!) and "Mogwai".
I found post-rock a couple of months ago. This Will Destroy You was the first band i listened to and damn - they destroyed me and gave me the ambiente and power to rebuild myself. Since then I was... no, I AM addicted
@MagZero1 to post-rock (I grew up with (punk)rock and discovered electro for the last two years). At this point I have 30 gigabyte (about 350 hours) of post-rock on my hard drive (illegal loaded but im buying little by little everythin. so its fact that the music industry makes money with my illegal loadings). Nevertheless I am knowing about new bands every day.
Post-Rock's just the best genre ever. There is no other genre with this much opportunities in making music.
@MagZero1 Yes it is so please don't ruin it by illegally downloading stuff. Buy the artists work first to support them. I look for music by typing in what I like into search engines and listening to on youtube. If I like it I buy it. Not telling you what to do or trying to bicker, but These kind of groups need to be supported so they can continue making such great music.
when you buy a cd from shop you arent supporting the artists, you are supporting the labels and shops etc. If you want to support an artist go see them live and buy merchandise directly from them.
@tool85pushit At the cost of a guitar, drum set, and free pipes to sing with I'm sure they can sacrifice some mp3's. If the band is really that good, I will buy them. If they have a good sound, they will be found. Most of the bands I know and love wouldn't have a CD in my collection without first hearing the mp3's. Not many people wanna waste their money going on a few good tracks. We're still in a recession here, and I'm seeing that some buskers and street musicians are making more money than..
@tool85pushit I do breaking my back on a roof in scolding heat so I can make $16 an hour. Fair is fair. Artists need to stop complaining. There are plenty of opportunities for work out there, I'm sure they can find an alternate source to support their dream. After all, that's what I've been doing; I'm not famous, and really, I can't complain. If I was really that good, I'd get paid for it, but I'm not, I lack organization and drive.
i cant think this is bad music. i find this beautiful and all... but listening for postrock since ten years, i begin to believe there is so many bands making the same kind of tracks. bands like laura are hundreds. i cant recognize them from another. i still love this music but its like a great lake in wich i can take a glass of water who has still the same taste. a bit disapointing.
so, i dont want to offense fans of this band, i just give my opinion.
Could anyone tell me what genre something like this would be? I'm after coming across a lot of music similar to this and I have no idea what to classify it as...
@chocolateyummies If you're the immoral type who doesn't mind stealing, type "mapping your dreams mediafire" into Google and click the first hit from Mediafire. Should be a perfect working download.
I agree mainstream is bullshit music : / sometimes they loose there nice melodlic sounds and just repeat over and over again until we get really anoyed with it for the first week. underated bands have more heart to them tha just making money for the walk steps onto the red carpet.
I'm surprised to find anyone bothering to actually WIN a pointless argument on YOUTUBE. What will come of it? Just listen. Listen carefully to the beautiful music and forget how much it means to all of you to bother with this.
