  • Mines has been doing this for the past year.

  • did ya try taking it out of that tight dust infested zone probably causing it to overheat

  • if you have only a small offset in a disk drives spindle motor the disk will become unbalanced and thus make noises but sometimes it still works fine

  • sounds like a chainsaw

  • My Nintendo Wii makes that same noise.

  • mine is making a buzzing noise to due to because it fall on the ground way to mush so im guesing the reader thing is out of place or someting.

  • Mine was taken into Nintendo and they fixed it.

  • i got an even noisyER!

  • lol mine is as loud as yours too

  • keep clicking halariuos

  • 2:50 weird pbs scene

  • 2:53 weird pbs scene

  • Hmm.. I have the same problem as you with it making noise when I put games in, but mine isn't as loud as yours. :X It's still an irritating buzzing noise though.

  • Same problem! But only in brawl and it's little smaller noise...

  • you sound like a fag and wii was made for little kids and old people

  • Maybe because you have WiiConnect 24 turned on and your Wii has generally not enough space.

Especially important is enough space for a console.

    (Sorry for my bad English)

  • Why would anyone grab their discs like that? Grab it by the edges.

  • Guys! Matt here, from my new channel. Guess what!? The Wii has been fixed! Yay! What my newest video to see how! :D

    watch?v=xe92rprbPUU

  • you reminds me of Jack Black lolz xD Your voice is actually very, like his. xD

I have this problem too, I've ordered a tri-wing screwdriver, to open up the wii to fix this problem. I actually know how to fix this, but can't write it down. Just search for ''Nintendo Wii Disc Drive Noise Fix'' in the search field. You will get the answer there. Hope this helped you! xD

  • I say, if it works, stop looking for problems, and just enjoy the amazing experience. This goes for all consoles!

  • Mine makes the same noise, it has been going on for 1,2 years now.

  • I once had a problem where I was using the Internet channel, and all of a sudden, my wii was making a beeping noise. I knew it was a problem with the disc drive or something. It was very annoying. I think it was coming from the fan in the disc drive.

  • this problem is because the metal chasis around the disc drive becomes slightly loose, you can fix it by screwing in the screws on the disc drive but this requires you to open the plastic case.

  • JESUS CHRIST! mine buzzes but not that Loud! OMG I was scared about mine! woah, yours is like GNARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR mines like nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn scary.

  • i dont know why but i found this extremly funny

  • is it bad if the wii only buzzes on scratched games

  • i get that too its anoying but if you put the volume up then it goes away

  • Apparently, it happens to a lot of people. :(

I think Nintendo should fix the problem for free.

  • Are they expensive, and you think I could find one at a place like Gamestop?

  • My Wii's also buzzing like this, though my case is less severe. Still annoying though.

What's odd is that it seems to buzz most with Animal Crossing, and much less with other games like Mario Kart and Zelda.

  • Perhaps, there is dirt inside the disc drive? Or the laser may be faulty and the magnet that holds the disc is loose so the disc is really trying to make it's full revolutions, and is scraping on the circuit boards.. try sending it to nintendo.

  • It's gunna have to be the thingy majigy...

...u know the one that picks up the disk and rotates it.

  • It sounds like theres something in there. The disc is pushing up against it and turning causing the buzzing noise. Take the wii too a game place and have them check it. When they fixed it they may have placed something in loosely or ddnt wait for the glue to dry releasing the object and forcing it to ride against the disc causing the noise.

  • try to hit it once not t hard or you raped ur WII (<---dont do that) try to open ur WII and buy a new disc reader if that doesnt work smash it up till it does ! ^.^

  • I got the same problem but it's not as loud as that yet, it's the motor I think

  • Happens to my Wii. No big deal. - Peter

  • Happens to my computer

  • That happened to my 360, but then I got the Red Ring of Death.

  • Not sure... but im right there when I say the wii rocks my socks. Idc what system you have. It pasts all other systems by miles! and you have good games. Is that all you have?

  • the wii is trying to read the cd when its laser isnt working perfectly try opening up and clean the laser

  • But the laser DOES work perfectly. It reads the disc EVERY TIME.

  • So when are you gonna send in your wii?

Its funny how each of the next Gen game systems has something wrong with it

    Xbox360- Red ring,

    Wii- buzzing noise

PS3- the fact that it even exsists

  • BAHAHAHA, NICE ONE.

I don't know if I'm going to send it in yet. I'm trying EVERY last thing I can think of before I do that. ;)

  • lol

i would try everything too, before spending 85 dollars and waiting like a month for the wii to be returned!

  • Yeah - it looks like I'm gonna have to, though.

I'll play the Wii a lot more if it's fixed. I don't even want to play nowadays because of the loud, obnoxious noise. :(

  • Also,

i know this is a random question,

but whats your faviorte game on the Wii?

  • Hmm... Well...

I'd have to say... Super Mario Galaxy. It's virtually Platforming perfection, and I've beaten it several times - still not tired of it.

Next would be Twilight Princess, simply because I love Zelda, and the storytelling.

Then, perhaps Super Paper Mario is tied with AC:City Folk.

Then Brawl - it's a lot of fun, but extremely repetitive.

I'm probably forgetting a few, but oh well. :P

  • Mine is also Mario Galaxy.

City folk is also up there

Im gonna pick up a new game in a few days,

Would you recomend Paper mario or Twilight Princess?

  • Hmm.

Well, definitely Twilight Princess if you're a Zelda fan. Super Paper Mario follows a completely different formula then the other Paper Mario games, so if you're expecting a heavy RPG, you won't get it. It's a story-rich plat former.

Twilight Princess has a 30+ hour Main story, with countless side quests, and if you want all the items and Heat Pieces, it'll take you a good 50+.

Super Paper Mario took me about 12 hours, so it's considerably shorter, so whatever floats your boat. ;)

  • well i have never played a Zelda game before so i think ill try that,

    thanks!

  • @moviedude345

You... have NEVER played a Zelda game before?!

  • Well, this is definitely the Wii itself, and not the little gray box - and only when a disc is inside, so I'm pretty sure something's going on with that.

I was thinking, too, that since it only does the noise with a disc, it's not the fan, because the fan turns without a disc in there, so that can't be it.

  • Just checked the pricing on this repair.

    $85, including shipping. :(

  • 85 big ones?

    That sucks major butt.

  • resetting it :S

  • Oh, believe me - I've tried. :p

  • Have you tried calling Nintendo Help?

  • Don't use disk cleaner, it made my Wii not flash blue when game inserted or ejected.

  • try unplugging it or resetting it

  • im not quite sure,

but i KNOW its somewhere between 50-80$

  • That's not HORRIBLE, but it's not cheap.

I guess I could hold on on Buying a new game if it means fixing my Wii.

  • looks interesting.

By any chance, are their scratch marks on the disks? and where did you buy the thing?

  • I bought the Wii at Target, brand new.

And all the discs are fine - I even put a brand new one in there the other day, and it still buzzed.

  • Well, im sorry to tell you,

but its an internal problem. The disc drive in your wii is faulty, meaning it will eveuntally give out in a short amount of time.

You can send it to them again, but without warranty ....

its gonna hurt in your wallet. :(

    sorry, man

  • Well, this is not a new problem.

It's been buzzing since around Summer of '08. That's almost a whole year, and it hasn't gone out yet.

If I do have to send it in, what's your estimate on repair cost?
