If you all you have ever fought is AMTgard, I would strongly suggest giving Dagorghir or Belegarth a shot. To me, it is more enjoyable because of the rule differences, but, if you like AMT more, to each his own. I personally am a Bel fighter because I like my shield bashes, but ultimately I plan to move on to SCA and then to EMP, the only things holding me back at this point are the upfront costs and lack of fields in my area.

Dude, i rly like playing live action role play, like amtgard, but here in my country, the only things that people care are: butts,beer and food. we have no culture here, i would love if there were amtgard people playing here, but unfortunaly, we just have small LARP groups in a few states :/.

The problem I always had with amtgard is you run into too many situations where it is unclear who got who first and it always leads to arguing.

Amtgard isn't gay.Just a little info about the game.PPl train to be able to play this game and requires a lot more agility than most sports and more planning than any other sport. I'm sure you're game is also good, but Amtgard is a very well designed and time-tested (27 years) game. We may not crush eachother with heavy sticks, but the finesse and savvy that the swordsmanship of my game requires is real, and it takes real time and dedication to develop it.

SEVERAL of us cross game. At my park, we have about 90% of the park cross gaming into the SCA. We do both this and Amtgard. I like Amtgard for its speed combat while I like the SCA for its realism. It isn't about "foam weapons" it's about the combat style.

there are two groups in Austin the large is south Austin near Slaughter Creek. Mary Moore Searight Metropolitan Park. 907 Slaughter Ln in Austin, Tx. from noon to dark on Sunday, they meet in the back of the park a bit. they average 30 to 40 from what ive been told.
