There was a one-on-one at Hastings?! Yaha! and 2.08 - come on!! I mean don't you people learn any history at school? Get a book, read... I promise you it won't hurt!
Where did they get these scene from? I thought the only Norman noble to die at Hastings was Enguenulf L'Aigle and he died after his horse and a bunch of other Normans fell into a trench and crushed each other while pursuing fleeing Saxons.
C'est un ménestrel nommé Taillefer, il ne se sacrifie pas mais vient provoquer l'armée saxonne avec l'autorisation de Guillaume (William) pour être le premier à "croiser le fer".
@haxocnc You are a disgrace to England, William the Bastard would have never conquered England alone, he was to much of a coward to face the superpower which was England
@CptPicard832 Your right he could have never done it with out people like my ancestor Hugh de Corbett Son of Corbe a unmounted knight that led one of the great charges up Senec hill most likely one that broke the Saxon line, with me being here right now,do not disrespect the Norman they had they best knights during that time period, but i do agree with you William was a coward not a conqueror.
I'm Norman, I liked this film but it showed my forefathers as being devils and the only good Norman actually being a Breton (the guy fighting in the beginning) it's a bit to much and takes away the credibility. But this is the best I have seen. But it has some good points, the Norman haircut forexample I have never seen before in any film and it was like this. Maby I should get myself that haircut I like it!
Well you have to understand, and i guess it is hard for you, that the Normans were very...unkind, to the English. Even William the Conqueror himself admitted to being ashamed of what he did to the Northern English (he had many of them slaughtered, the manner of which is unspeakable. Babies thrown onto fires etc). It is hard for me not to hate the Normans, for what they did to my country. They turned it into the England of today yes, but they took much of our culture away and much our language.
It's all the same reaaly, to them in the midst of a battle it's not about who they're fighting but about staying alive, so even though the Bretons' routed, I could anyone to run in such a of a frenzy in battle.
@Anquetil79: You do not sound like a tough grizzled old soldier but some kind of dandified Nancy boy, who is afraid of wars! You are indubitably no sea-dog but the sort of pasty landlubber I have always despised. I'll warrant, the most exciting thing that has happened to you limpid prawn in a whole year, was the day when you forgot to put sugar in your porridge!
I have no clue why they even put that in there. There are no historical accounts that I am aware of that mention any female warriors at the battle of Hastings or Stamford. Such a thing was extremely disgraceful back then. I would guess that they put it in here for effect only, nothing more. Sorry.
well the anglo saxons liked to have women and children present at war to encourage the men, like nowadays if ur girlfriend saw u back down from a fight or be a coward its more shameful and embarassing so they were there, also to make u remember if u dont win this war then ur women and children are in the hands of the enemy
im an English man living in the philippines and i saw this dvd in a market stand, id neva heard of it b4 but thought id give it a chance, its probly the best thing ive ever seen

Oh to be an Englishman and die there, i'd rather lay there alone than watch my country slowly crumble like it is.
