I am having a problem where it doesn't necessarily crackle when I play a sound, but rather it just has 2-5 second crackling sessions at random intervals, regardless of whether I am playing a song or not.
thanks bro...i been waiting to get enough rest to fix my fl studio program and i've already heard this fix but never explained the way you did...thanks bro and keep up the good work....
So If I understand this correctly it`s all about the cpu? If I buy a realy good one it means I can have lower buffer length? My problem is not crackling sounds but that the cpu load shoots sky high and stops any sound for a sekond at random times and couses lots of underruns.
@jay666rob Multi core processors throttle the available power to your program, make sure your computer is set to "High Performance Mode" in the power settings prior to using FL studio, this will ensure you are getting the most out of your processor as overloads can occur easily if you are on the wrong setting.
@satyriconlife Either clear a bunch of stuff from your computer. Close all programs while running FL Studio. Or (and this is a last resort) restore the computer back to factory defaults.
you have seriously solve all my problems.. I will subscribe to you!! apparantly there was nothing wrong.. I just had it on my primary sound device and all i had to do was put it on asioall and it fixed it.. thanks :))))
When I change to the ASIO driver I get a difference in quality. When I go back to my primary sound drive it sounds much worse. But if I render out the track and keep the ASIO driver on it renders in the original quality. Anyway to fix this?
@croatianthug processor...it happens if you have lots of vst's loaded, ram is for samples, processor for plug-in's & such...I had a this problem...but I said fuck that pc and I'm building a all updated powerful pc from scratch.
when i add a filter automation or a volume automation there is a distinct click right before the filter or volume control kicks in...is there anyway to eliminate this from happening? If you listen to my song Some Notes its very apparent what my problem is...you can hear the click right before the main lead comes in...
I am having trouble again with the CPU ... when I set the external sound card in ASIO: 1.00ms latency on, then I have crackling, when I set for example on latency 5 ms, then again I have problems with the CPU, no crackling, but high latency, and I know that this is not the processor, or in the RAM, these components have a powerful, but I think that would solve my problem could reinstall Windows?? and if not, so what's the problem? with what is necessary to tinker?
@TheLynxie yea i feel you i have a even more powerful cpu and for some really odd reason fl studio 10 uses supposedly 70% even when its idle which i dont understand. i have amd phenom II 1055t, 6 core.
i said to myself this cant be right i have the 6 core processor gen2 and fl studio says its using 70+% when idle, this is testing with the demo song which is good for testing. so i look in task manager thinking ok it should be the same cpu usage, no oddly task manager says its only using 15%?
@TheLynxie im just really confused as to why fl studio is not using my cpu properly, task manager says only 15% gets used at max, which sounds right, but when its the cpu usage in fl studio it gives 70+%, clearly it appears to not be using my cpu fully.
ive tried many different settings, nothing works. i dont get crackling but its not right it runs on constant 70%, when the program is only using 15% of my cpu.
@DJSeasho Thank you! But how do I open them on FL Studio now? I put them in that extra stuff folder where other stuff like that goes. Was that wrong or am I just not doing something?
@DJSeasho i know you made this tutorial a long time ago so i'm assuming you know more about this issue by now. i desperatelyneed help with this. i have 3 vsts loaded up in FL right now: kore player, nexus, and 3xosc. my computer will not stop crackling and i have the buffer set really high. any idea on how i can fix this? its driving me crazy!!!
My problems are fixed now, I installed the asio 2.9 version as the 2.10 version only worked for a couple of weeks. No idea why, maybe its a vista thing and 2.9 just works better or maybe im talking tru me ass caus I havnt really got a clue but im sharing this because this is what has worked for me.
@MarcusSims91 yea im having same issue since upgrading to 10. task manager says only using 15% of cpu, but fl studio says its using 70+% of my cpu even when its idle. dont get why its not using my cpu correctly of fully.
i mean i play video games that use more cpu usage in task manager i dont understand why if its using so much cpu in fl studio why wouldnt the task manager cpu usage be the same.
i already downloaded the latest asio4all but it didnt help, thats wierd that the stored data cant just be dumped, my pc has 3 gb so it should be well able for it, thanx mate
hey man, are you saying when you reach the maximum then that is it, you need a new pc? is there no way to delete all the stored data in fl? Mine is popping and I have already done all you said in this video, Is mine fucked ?
@djralfhynes Try out the ASIO drivers, at .asio4all . c o m/ they are more efficient than the default ones. If that doesn't work try using less cpu instensive vsts, get more ram, or a new pc.
@richardm80 Click the green icon in the lower right corner representing the asio drivers and make sure that your sound card is highlighted in light blue without a red x. Also make sure FL is the only application running.
HEY DJSEASHO WHEN YOU ARE MAKING THE SONG IN THE STUDIO ITS KINDA LIKE A ROUGH DRAFT AND WHEN YOU EXPORT IT MAKES A FINAL COPY THATS WHY IT GIVES YOU THE OPTION TO ADJUST YOUR BIT RATE PEOPLE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS WHEN YOU EXPORT YOUR SONG SET YOUR BIT RATE TO 320KBS AND ANYTHING BETWEEN 128KBS AND 320KBS WITH GET RID OF ALL THAT NOISE AND YOUR SONG WILL BE FRESH NOT GAY LIKE WHAT EVER HES MAKIN YOU CAN MAKE SOME SICK BEATS FROM RAP TO ROCK TO DUBSTEP HOUSE EVERYTHING!!!!!
This is my problem, When I try to play certain packs from the browser on the left i hear crackling noises. Like when I try to sample them. It happens with some of the pre installed packs as well.
Dude, I don't know what happened, but after taking a break for a few days, I went back to my remix and played with the levels just a bit, but only increasing them and not lowering them any, and when I exported the song it sounded fine. No issues with crackling or popping...
@DJSeasho Works for me though. I revised it to be a little less harsh on the blood overdrive after it had already worked, but it sounds much better now...
@Seeeeaaaannn It wasn't fine exported though. I've just started to mix parts down as I do them and then export the smaller parts as wav files because they use way less CPU space.
Hey man, I've had this problem with when I'm actually creating a track and used ASIO and enhanced everything, got rid of all the underruns, but do you know how I can get rid of all the crackling in the exported mp3 file? I have no idea and it's driving me insane. I've tried everything and the exported MP3 still cracks a lot.
@SignedAnon That crackling means your audio has overloaded, your spiking the volume too high so the soundwaves get clipped causing crackling, if you see red on your peak meter, it's too loud, I'll be releasing a mixing and mastering tutorial soon to help people with their mixes.
@DJSeasho Well that's what I figured, so I went in a dropped the levels on just about everything to about 50-75% of the maximum, and I'm still getting a ton of crackling in the export...I'm thinking I might switch my sound to ASIO, then record into edison and see if that helps with the cracking and clicking. Think that would work?
@DJSeasho It actually did okay through edison. I had to lower everything to get the sound in without it clipping volume wise, but the end product of the edison export wasn't bad. It was as good as a rendered project export, but it was okay. Definitely need to figure out how to do it without recording into edison though. It's a pain to bring all the levels down and then back up to continue working on it.
@SignedAnon It's better to get a feel for your levels before you get too deep into a project, depending on the beat you want most instruments (put together) around -14 db, kick drums as high as -3, hi hats around the -30's, snares/claps anywhere between
-9/-13 db. 80 percent of mixing is getting the right volumes from the get go.
All i did was click my primary soundcard under directsound devices, in the audio Settings window and it worked way better than using the asio sound devices.
@JingleBerries11 FL never works "Flawlessly" lol there are always issues with any problems, with that configuration you should be able to produce without too many hiccups as long as you turn your power settings to "High Performance" prior to working on beats, and altering your soundcard latency as necessary.
My PC will restart when i try the asio...and orig. sound driver will crackling,i think my Pentium 4 3.20 Ghz is not enough to Fl with nexus 2 and so on.
thanks mate u helped me with 2 things there and one of them isnt what i was looking for lol
1. i was looking for how to stop the crackling, for playing songs
2, the thing u helped me with was: my keyboard had slow feedback like what u just showed with the buffer but now problem solved not slow any more thanks (Y) :D
When i load lots of vst's on my project to make it perfect, my CPU usage goes up and when it is more than 500 mb it takes ages to load my project and i recieve alot of underruns. Can you help me fix this? This happens whle using my audio card Realtek AC97 Audio as input/output. The same happens on ASIO4All v2. should i buy a better audio card? or more ram? I've seen other vids on youtube where people use alot of vst's but their FL studio doesn't lag or recieve any underruns at all. please help
I think It's more related to the sound card capabilities than the processor. Hard to believe a quad core Athlon II x4 634, even at stock 2.9ghz would be to blame. With all the crackling going on I was showing under 15% cpu usage, even with one of the HUGE sample tracks that comes with FL. I think onboard audio is to to blame. I have an old audigy 2 laying around (don't know why I never installed it), and I'm confident I'll solve it. With my Realtek, I have to set it to over 5700 samples.
The Audio Buffer is a temporary store of audio waiting to be sent to the soundcard, allowing FL Studio to even out momentary spikes in CPU load. If the Audio Buffer runs dry, because your CPU or hard-drive can't keep up with the 'real-time' audio stream, then your Soundcard will make rude pop, click or stutter noises. It is worth noting that underruns can ONLY occur in real-time playback
I have this same problem, but i think that it's 64 bit drivers... I.E. Windows Vista x64, on a overclocked cpu (2.15ghz or something) /w 4 gigs of ram isn't enough to run FL 9 with Standard Soundblaster drivers... efficiently, but ASIO works fine i guess...
what up C? ok?!..i just got a new CPU and its awesome but am having a problem because am getting cracklings but my computer is only using 3 cores at max and not pushing over 20% on any of them. i really thought that the new CPU was gonna fix all of this.. anyways! what the f? or maybe its my sound card, am using Sound Blaster Audigy.. so, if it is, what sound card would you recommend? under 150 of cause..haha
Thank you for the advise, but I found out depending on your computer you just move the buffer size up on your computer to take the crackling out if it pushes 4gigs of RAM or more.
But if it wasn't for your tutorial I wouldn't have figured it out on my own. Thank you.

It is worth noting that underruns can ONLY occur in real-time playback

i got rid of my crackling just by selecting my Realtek HD audio output.
i don't believe this has anything to do with CPU, even with alot going on i only use 20-30% .

i get how to reduce crackling in fl studio and tahanks for the vid, but when i export a song in mp3 and play it my speakers still crackle, and ALOT.

@johnpaulbehr That means your speaker cones have likely detached.. sounds like you need new speakers...

@isharaism Hmm I'm not sure ish I can look into it though ^^

Thank you for the advise, but I found out depending on your computer you just move the buffer size up on your computer to take the crackling out if it pushes 4gigs of RAM or more.
But if it wasn't for your tutorial I wouldn't have figured it out on my own. Thank you.

I was wondering... using these tricks you showed here can FL be used in a box with 2ghz cpu and 512mb ram? Reaper runs fine on it btw.
What is your PC like? Please answer.
arnab1021976 2 years ago
These settings can be tweaked for any PC running FL Studio, mine is running at 2.2 ghz single core 3.5 gigs Ram.
