Rik is truely amazing!!! Especially since he is left handed and learned to play with his right!!! Thank You Rik, for making the most beautiful songs of my teen years!!!!
saw this live in montreal...absolutely mind blowing song.and show.....these guys are the best..no band has the dynamics triumph has...music today just sucks with all the fake "stars" and auto-tune b.s....I still listen to triumph even after 30 years..think Jay-z will even be alive in 30? and would anyone be listening to lady gag me either????
My first Concert I ever seen i was 16 now 45 ,this song rocked kind of freaked me out the whole light and fire works and powerfull sound like I never heard before ,so much so I am still a rocker today!!
I went to one of their concerts. Been a few years. Triumph and April Wine. Tickets were $5.50.....Like I said, been awhile. Great Band and a hell of a good show. What I can recall anyway!
Rush is an excellent band. I've probably seen them a dozen times. One of my all-time favorites.
The two bands are very different. Triumph had the BEST light show I'll prolly ever see! The song that got my attention was their cover of Rocky Mountain Way.
I don't know if they still have stage show that they used to, but even if they sat in a recliner to play I'd still go see them!
Who could say anything bad about "rocket" Rick and Mike Levine is one of the best bassists I've ever heard.
One of the greatest bands ever , high quality music , well written and awesomely played , also a superb live performers, I was blessed to have seen them live in Dallas in 1986, and in June 2010 I was honored to see Rik Solo in Poor dave's pub in Dallas and I was litarlly 3 feet from him, one of the top 2 or 3 guitarist of all time, rock and fucking roll Triumph.
Lets just face it. Rush and Triumph were both fantastice bands with really talented musicians that gave us some of the greatest music during our times and is still listened to to this day. Raise your glass!
Why does it have to be a more/less talented thing? Both bands were great, and as far as I know, they've got no beef with each other. Stop trying to create a conflict and enjoy the music!
@vettekingiam No crack about it dude I'm a Player and am a product of Rush ,Triumph,Max Webster,Guess Who,Bryan Adams,Neil Young,Most of the Members of The Band, I AM CANADIAN!!!!
One of the greatest Triumph tunes, and too the Critics out there Canadian Bands who every you like are all top notch musicians especially from the 70's and were the greatest influence to many promising musicians coming from Canada for the the next 3 Decades and I pay homage to them all ! Just shut up and Listen!
I would have loved to see Blinding Light Show in its full form. I saw Triumph later than the days when they played BLS in its entirety (and then Rik solo even later than that) and both times they just worked a few snippets of BLS into the guitar work from another song, but it was fantastic nonetheless.

I think this show might be from Cleveland Oct 82 at the Cleveland Music Hall - it;s the same concert that you ca purchase on cd from the King Biscuit Flower Hour. If it is that show I was there in the 7th row it was the first time I had ever seen Triumph. I have pic as well. I'll have to check them out to see what Mike was weraing.
This was a real treat. I've seen over 75 concerts, but I never got to see Triumph. They came to my city in 82, just one year before I started going to concerts. Then once in 87 about 1 1/2 hours from where I was living then. I didn't have my car with me then. But I bought some bootlegged pictures at a flee market from that concert. (no way near as good as being there, but the pictures were from someone that looked liked they were in 2nd or 3rd row) Triumph (Rick Emmet) is awsome!
Wrong concert...not Baltimore 82 show that was on MTV. Mike had a white Hockey Jersey on in that video. He has a Hawai 81 jersey in this one. I do agree it was the Allied Forces tour for sure though!!

"Next to Rush"? Rush and Triumph's only similarities are they are from Canada. Triumph was a true rock band. Emmett was a genius just like Pert and Lee. You can not compare the two bands. They were off in two different directions. I would have liked to see Emmett with Pert and Lee together though. WOW. Lifeson doesn't hold a candle to Emmett.
@ninjajo11 : This was from the Allied Forces tour. MTV played this (I know from the outfits they are wearing) concert BUT this song didn't make it. I would love to have the entire concert. I video taped the hour that MTV played but it was pretty much the radio hits.
@ninjajo11 Actually, they worked the same gig circuit in the same era coming up and were both equally popular while still only being known on the local scene. I was fortunate to see both of them at differenty small gigs in Ontario as a teen. The best being the Bala Kee or "Kee to Bala" Google it for info, some great ass bands played there and I saw both Rush and Triumph there several times. Check out "Max Webster" for an interesting band that was as popular at the time.
now wait, you just said you can't compare Rush and Triumph because there are going different directions. How can you compare Emmett and Lifeson then? I happen to think Lifeson is a better electric player but would give the edge...slightly to Rik. What puts Rik over the top is his voice. Alex is much more creativ with leads and chord voicings. Just an opinion...like yours.
@ninjajo11 -- HUH? Lifeson does hold a candle to Emmett? You are referring to Alex Lifeson of Rush right? Do you have any idea how difficult the guitar arrangements are for most Rush songs? More often then not, Alex Lifeson is the only being on earth that can play them flawlessly. I could play 90% of the Triumph catalog when I was in the ninth grade.
i saw TRIUMPH @ the Royal Oak music theatre back on there 1st tour "Rock & Roll machine" for $1.99 probably my most influnceable concert to me that made me want to play rock & Roll. i love them they ROCK!!!!
I agree totally. Rik is by far the most under-rated guitarest of our time. An unbelievable talent. Vocals are outstanding also. Eddie & Jimmy are good, but both of them should tip their hats to Rik the rocket.

More than Than Rush I hear some Marillion, mostly in the vocals I think Fish listened to this..?
Love Triumph saw them in 82 Providence RI
