  • The wall fell down and then they kill every man, woman, child and dog. Good Job, #5 thou shalt not kill.

  • @gregrutz The proper translation is "thou shalt not murder" - BIG difference from "kill". I know, it still doesn't seem 'nice' at all, but if God is who the Bible says he is, then we are too ignorant to be able to question his ways.

  • @HytchJR Great, that make christians as bad a Muslilms ! Kill for God !

  • @gregrutz Have I been told by God to kill people? No - I am told by the Bible to love everyone by sharing the news of Jesus with them. Have Muslims been told by God to kill people? Also no - but some still do. So I think your statement is incorrect.

  • @HytchJR Ask a muslim what the penalty for leaving Islam is. Death.

  • @gregrutz Perhaps, but to follow God's way = New Life.

  • @Zillafeet follow which God?

  • @gregrutz The God who has many names. Lion of Judah. Father Eagle. Everlasting King. Conqueror of Evil. Creator of Life. Jesus' Father.

  • @Zillafeet Allah, Zeus, Ra, Mercury, etc. etc. etc.

  • @gregrutz Yes, those are other names, but those FAKE gods only have one name. The only reason for their creation was because man decided to live by their beliefs and MADE-UP stories. After that, different religions were born. Besides, if there really was a god named Ra, then why did the Pharaoh of Egypt lose to a son of slaves with the POWER of GOD whom was believed to be non-existent by other nations? Because his religion was WRONG!!! :))

  • @Zillafeet I hate those FAKE gods.

  • @gregrutz ...so America is as bad as Muslims cause we're killing in Iraq?

  • @gregrutz Those Christian's God seems Real ..and Mightier than ..the muslim god ...

Maybe they have the truth and the world is in darkness waiting destruction..

  • @gregrutz as the video said, the children were already sacrificed to idols lol, problem?

  • @FriendlyMrFox Problem? Just one. Number 5. Thou shalt not Kill.

  • absolute lunacy.

  • @ZhugeNaut How so, sir?

  • The Israelites also killed every man, woman, child, and infant... well, except for Rahab and her family.

What a nice family story :)

  • @AllknowingGuitarGuru - fortunately, the Bible isn't marketed as a family story, just history...

  • @HuwReesMusic 'Tis a strange history indeed... one that does not offer a motivation for such a heinous deed as to kill babies, save for the fact that their fathers and their father's fathers did build a city near the River Jordan. Where be your moral compass now, sir? It's no wonder Christians offer no compunction for various genocidal acts: My Lai or Wounded Knee. (wherein both, innocent souls of women and children were lost but no man suffered retribution. And that, my friend is TRUE history.

  • @AllknowingGuitarGuru "Strange" doesn't even begin to describe it. However, I would urge you to look at the flipside: why would God be so merciful to you and I? A perfectly holy God doesn't have to put up with disobedience, and yet He not only lets us live our sinful lives, but loves us so much as to die on the cross in order to pay the price of reconciliation in our place, so we can have eternal life.

Do I understand God's ways? Heck no. Sometimes, I won't even like what I see - it's natural...

  • @HytchJR "Do I understand God's ways? Heck no. Sometimes, I won't even like what I see - it's natural..." Your most valid point. And in many ways it's in the misinterpretation of scripture where man's trouble begins.

  • @AllknowingGuitarGuru Granted, when people start adding/subtracting/ignoring/take out of context pieces of scripture, things can go horribly wrong (Roman Catholicism, JW, Mourmons). It's only when you look at the Bible as a whole that it starts to make sense - then there is virtually no room for interpretation. Watch the 'Book of Books' videos and tell me what you think.

  • @HytchJR "people start adding/subtracting/ignoring/take out of context pieces of scripture, things can go horribly wrong (Roman Catholicism, JW, Mourmons)."

Am i to assume you have a direct line to God on this?

No man may presume to know the will of God: no Muslim, No Jew, No Evangelical Christian. It's a wise man who recognizes that the will of God is beyond human knowledge. If I were you, I'd be careful about chastising other followers of the Christ about what is proper and what is heresy.

  • @AllknowingGuitarGuru - taking my comment out of context, thanks for illustrating my point. Man, being sinful by nature, is apt to use scripture to further his own ideas; instead, you have to look at the Bible which complements itself throughout as a whole. Do I have all the answers? No. Do I need t have all the answers? Equally no: the message of the Bible is that...

  • @AllknowingGuitarGuru ...you and I are sinners, Jesus (Emmanuel - 'God with us') paid the price for that sin, and we must accept this gift - this is not open to interpretation, I think you'll agree. And that is all one needs to know to be saved! It couldn't be any simpler.

  • @HytchJR Some theologian, other Christians, Jews, and Muslims who saw Christ and his words as prophetic, may disagree with you. I wish it were that simple. I have difficulty reconciling that a man who's lived an immoral life, a selfish life, and who has taken one of our most precious gifts (life itself) can find salvation, while a person who has lived an exemplary life by Christian standards, who has lived a life as his brother's keeper must be damned for having a different understanding of God.

  • @AllknowingGuitarGuru I completely agree - it is a hard thing to contemplate, but that's just because our standards are not God's standards: rejecting God is rejecting God; sin is sin.

Thankfully, it's not my job to convince you I or anyone is right - it's just to point you towards the Bible for you to find out for yourself. Please do read John's gospel - this may sound corny, but pray to Jesus, ask him to give you the understanding in order that what you read is what he wants you to know.

  • @AllknowingGuitarGuru "Am I to assume you have a direct line to God..."

Everyone Who knows Jesus Christ personally has a direct line to God, just as those in the Old Testament heard verbally from Him; Do we always understand it; No more than a child always understood their parents decisions growing up, but at the end of the day knew their parents loved them & had the child's best interest in mind.

  • @HytchJR 'Book of Books'... sounds interesting. Please email me the link.

  • @AllknowingGuitarGuru - if you go to my channel, it's the first on the Moody Filmstrips playlist.

  • @HytchJR Thanks!

  • @AllknowingGuitarGuru ...but that doesn't stop me from putting my faith in a God who evidently loves me.

Also, your sweeping statement regarding genocidal acts - I would recommend rethinking such a nonsensical, prejudice comment that is just not true.

  • @HytchJR Evidence of God's love? If theoretically there were no God and all that you beheld today were extant, and you knew of no such God, how would that impact your world view. In other words, I'm submitting as a philosophical possibility that you may be putting into evidence a supposed love that could be explained by other means.

Sweeping, nonsensical, prejudicial comment? No. I was connecting how a biblical story that lacked a clear motive may have influenced subsequent senseless acts.

  • @AllknowingGuitarGuru - everything comes down to faith, in essence there's no such thing as 'evidence' - I hope you can agree with me there. So when I said 'evidently', I mean from what I read in the Bible, which is what I believe to be God's Word.

"It's no wonder Christians offer no compunction for various genocidal acts" - that's what I was referring to as a sweeping statement; I've never met such a person. If I did, I would say they do not understand the message of the gospel.

  • @HytchJR "everything comes down to faith..." Beautifully stated! I approve :)

It is often the case where people have either confused the message or manipulated it for selfish reasons. Which brings us back to my original post...

Tying the innocent to the damned, and without a forthcoming interpretation that grapple with murdering children, defies reason. Add to this that this story is so widely disseminated and I'm in a moral quandary.

  • @HytchJR I'm far from saying that God, or the Christ, or the purest form of Christian practice at its core would condone such atrocities sans punishment for those deeds. What I'm saying is that a pattern of misinterpretation of the bible may have laid a foundation for being permissive of cruelty if it serves the needs of "men," wherein men is what is key, such that serving man and serving God are often confused with the same thing.

  • I just found all these in a barn!!! Im missing the audio records though...where can I find them?

  • @Blessedhart - if you want me to send you the sound files, send me a message :)

  • I like this video! To God be the glory!
