Hmm, I don't think Kai ro whatever her name is really would have been able to defeat the 87 shredder if they had kept him true to the original cartoon, look at this clip at 1:06 that's the shredder I remember. I mean the alien one was obviously more powerful, but I don't think Kai would be and that's my main problem with this movie. All the other stuff seems ok except the voices.

In terms of personal prefrence its debateable who the best shredder was but its obvious just by looking at the two the 2003 shredder is a better fighter, had superior intelligence, and was just more of a threat then the 1987 shredder was. So naturally the old shredder would get his ass handed to him.

@DAYD111 -- TMNT in the 1980s had to be *much* more regulated with the lethality of their storylines.  Example: the Foot soldiers had to be robots (instead of real people); if kids were to see the TMNT injuring real people, the show could have been perceived as a bad influence (at the time). Also, for the same reason, the 1980's TMNT never tried to *kill* anyone.
