However, if you're looking for the most "fun for your buck", the Mazda 3s would win there. But a Mazda 3 and a Mustang are comparing apples to oranges.
@dhruvilshah30 I can agree with you on that. It kills me that I'm going to sell off my 2010 Mazda 3s, with all the fun that I've had with it, but ever since I was old enough to play with Hot Wheels and Matchbox Cars, I knew the Mustang was the car for me. And now that I can get muscle and economy in the same package, it was a reasonable choice for me.
@dhruvilshah30 That's not even a contest, IF you mean in a straight line. The Mustang will destroy the 3, and perhaps even the Mazdaspeed 3.
Now, that being said, in a very (and I mean very) curvy road course, the Mazda may have enough handling to bridge the gap, giving us a very good race. At the moment, I own both, though I will sell the Mazda soon. I have not yet tested the handling capabilities of the Mustang to compare it to my Mazda 3S, but acceleration is not even close.
@zulu45 car is not for only race. i m a racer i know but overall mazda 3 is more in market than mustang mazda is so fun to drive ask any good person in market he will tell u mazda 3 is so much fun to drive
@dhruvilshah30 I don't have to ask anybody else, I drive one myself. I agree, it's so fun to drive. When I took a trip to the Smokey Mountains in TN, I had more fun than ever on those curvy mountain roads with my Mazda 3s. That being said, what is fun is all a pure matter of opinion. And while curvy-driving fun is surely more with the Mazda 3s, the sound and acceleration can be just as fun from the new 2011 Mustang V6. There's something to be said about the fun of a rear-wheel vehicle...
@RomanianStarWR28 I never claimed anything otherwise. I'm the one selling my Mazda because I bought a Mustang V6. I'm on the Mustang's side on this. I just respect the handling, cornering, and overall fun factor of the Mazda 3 or the MS3.
@zulu45 Oh I know man. I never said anything bad about Mazda. I love the MS3 but not for straight line unless we're just talking four cylinders all day. My friend has one which I like it. But Mustang is just sick for a V6.
@RomanianStarWR28 Hehe, I know what you mean. The handling between the Mazda 3s and the Mustang are like night and day (with the Mazda coming out on top), at least for me, when I did direct comparisons yesterday. That being said, I love the Mustang so much. Even stock, it sounds great. And when I have people ride along, they're shocked when I tell them that it's a V6. I would've liked a Mazda-style shifter, though, with an autostick, but the 1, 2, 3, and D are better than nothing, I guess.
This powerplant is astonishing, The 2005-2010 V6, 4.0 and all, packed more power than the original V8 mustangs did. I don't know about the rest of you, but that sure makes me appreciate the quality and mechanics behind our current automotive technology. I for one am tired of hearing how Ford is just another "shitty American car company" and am damned proud of the cars they make. My 2007 GT was awesome, and I cannot wait to get behind the wheel of the 2011 V6 as well as new 5.0 GT. Muscle!!!
@ungatoniko I don't think people ever doubted them but they sure did take their sweet ass time in bringing their expertise to the market. It took the competition to dictate their business road map and that's usually how it works in these scenarios. Had it not been for the Camara V6, we wouldn't get this.
Ford's lucky people didn't just abandon them outright like other companies but let's hope this upward swing will become a trend and consumers can only benefit.
its a good deal but the gt weighs less and really isnt that much more. i was hoping the v6 would weigh less, so if i bought that and supercharged or TT'd it itd be faster but the gt seems better

@leatherwings007 I know man, this is one of the only actually cars I'm considering if not some SUV crossover. The deal is just too good to pass up and maybe future cars won't be as good as this one.
It's pretty cool Ford made a new V6 for the '11 Mustang, but why didn't they just stick the '10 Taurus 3.5L under the hood and offer the 3.5L Twin Turbo V6 as an option? 365hp!
Ford Mustang....50 FREAKING YEARS OF HISTORY, A LEGEND!!! LOL YET ITS V6 COMPARABLE VERSION WITH THE GENESIS COUPE IS 0.5 SEC FASTER....FORD MUSTANG LEGEND!!! LOL
I love the way Chevy always up the H.P. on the Camaro to stay ahead of the Mustang. Now that the Mustang v-6 is putting out 305 h.p. The Camaro v-6 will have to up the performance from 306 to about 335 h.p. God forbid they try to macth the Mustang on a level playing field.
No Chevy didn't up the performance, they simply got the V6 Camaro SAE certified. The original release was simply low on paper. And its not going to 335 HP, its now 312 HP.
this thing is fucking awesome!! id get the red v6 305 hp and still 19mpg for around $25000 or the gt for $30000 it cant compete with the bloated camaro or challenger i think the stang looks way better too
Independent suspension versus live axle. But then theres the lighter weight of the Mustang versus the heavier Camaro. Mustang has a better interior, Camaro has more distinctive exterior styling.
Finally, Ford has come to their senses. They must have realized that V6 Mustang owners take a lot of crap from the almighty V8 drivers who think their gods gift to the world and decided to take it up a notch. I don't care what anyone says, the new Mustang V6 is beast. Of course, the GT has more Hp, but no matter what you do there will always be someone who has a faster car. Plus the V6 insurance will be cheaper, you have to take that into consideration.
The 2011 V6 Mustang will be around $30,000 give or take. You can find a good used 2006 to 2009 Gt for around $15,000 to $23,000. I own a 2006 PP Mustang that I will be trading for a 2010 Gt.
Need some advice from those of you who own mustangs. Would you get the 2011 v-6 or an earlier GT. The v-6' s have 305 hp, and the earlier gt's have 300 hp. So you would think the v-6's would have more power, weird saying a v-6 has more power than a v-8! What would you suggest?
I just sold my 2009 v6 pony package to be able to get the v6 2011, why buy an old gt, the 2011 v6 will be cheaper, with better fuel economy, cheaper insurance, much lighter front end, and will also have the new shape, better interior, dual exhausts, etc. and a new warranty.
Also get a manual, much more fun to drive, the camaro looks stupid, the challenger is nice, but the hemi is expensive and the v6 is heavy and under powered, do not get the mustang 2010 v6 with the old engine.
Even a 2010 gt does not make sense as it has 300 hp,even less than the 2011 v6 and it will have a much heavier front end, be more expensive to insure and heavier on gas, the same goes for the 2005 - 2009 gt, the 2011 gt will have 415 hp.
I think the 2011 v6 will tick all the boxes, why buy some guys ex v8 and you never know how it was treated, when you can get a new 2011 v6, get the same hp, a new warranty, and it will be the new version for a long time and thus hold its value well.
actually the '10 gt has 10 more hp and 45 more pound feet of torque than the '11 v6, but I do agree with you. I feel sorry for anyone who bought a 2010 gt without knowing that the '11 v6 would have almost as much power, better gas mileage and less weight, and a lower price.
I feel even worse for people who rushed into the new shape 2010v6 mustang with the old engine, who will ever give then a good price for it. It is not quite the old or new model, a bit of a bastard child that no one will ever love.
@Moemxxxking I would never lease a new car myself. you pay all that money and end up owning nothing, either way the new 2011 v6 mustangs are hitting the showrooms soon and are priced the same as the 2010 model which is good news.
I feel really sorry for the people that bought the 2010 Mustang GT, The 2011 V6 Pushes 305hp where as the '10 GT only pushes 10 more horses for a 315hp rating, that sucks for them
@1HeartnSoul My friend bought one because he thought the 2011's would be the same, then continues to lie that he has a 2011 (his car doesn't have dual exhaust, redlines at 6k, and speed-o-meter goes up to only 120 mph)
He feels so much like a jackass he has to lie about what year his mustang is haha
@79274333 THe 2010 GT has 315 HP, but I get your point. It'll probably be 5-6 months before I actually go and get a mustang, so hopefully by then I can test drive both and see which one I like better. I would think the 2011 V6 would have faster acceleration and top speed because of it's lighter weight, over the 2005-2009 mustang gt's. Once they actually come out, my decision will become much easier, thanks for your advice!
One thing, my 2009 v6 had a speed limiter to 117mph, ford limit the top speed of v6 mustangs and will do the same with the 2011 v6, but it does not effect acceleration, you can take it off, but could have warranty issues.
@79274333 supposedly the 2 piece drive shaft breaks at speeds over 117. pretty scary stuff if your drive shaft breaks at high speed, so im happy for the limiter
ya i wasnt too sure but ive heard from multiple sources, some friends and others mustang forums, that the driveshaft is prone to "fail" at speeds over about 120. i dont know if its true either but unless i get a few grand laying around i dont really wanna test it lol
@blackstallion4209 -- Obviously rumors start and then grow like fish stories.I have even welded my own drive-shats in my garage and none failed -- so now they fail out of a brand new car --- this is utter bullshit..Like I say started like those morons picking on Toyota acceleration ---- Retards should not be allowed to drive --- never learned what brakes are for ------- I hav my throttle stick on my old charger in 1971 ---- I was able to stop it no problem --- any reason to knock the top dog .
I will simply quote Carroll Shelby and say "Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races." The older GT, despite the weight difference, will still be able to pull a little harder. Personally I'd be happy with either one. The 2011 v6 is going to be great for enthusiasts and it will definitely outsell the GT (per usual).
I was thinking about buying a GT with the V-8 300 hp, but now I really might have to reconsider! Does anyone know how much the V-6's are going to sell for and when they are supposed to come out?
That's not bad for a 305hp and 30 mpg. The previous GT's are 300hp. It'll feel funny picking a v6 over a v8. LOL! Do you know what the 0-60 time is for the new 2011's are?
I love these cars, 300 hp v6 DOHC, ford has done sth i've been waitting for for a long time. And that TiVCT surprised me a bit, not a common solution in american cars.
@eric2074 Who cares? I honestly prefer better handling and better fuel economy over 2 extra cylinders, and 100hp that you can't use on the street anyway. Besides, I've heard an exhaust system on a V6 challenger that sounded very close to a V8.
My god your a dumbass. This V6 makes more power then the 05 to 09 GT's and can easily outrun the camaro in straight line. Yeah it is sure not a V8 but with 305 HP and 280lb of torque what the fuck do you care. And it has dual exhaust not 1
Wow... all that wasted time you writing dumb stuff about V6 and one tailpipe when it has two. First you can tell by sound dual exhaust, and you can even see it. Wow...
i think it would with minor modifactions, and im also only talking about mustang gt's from 80-2009. . . come on guy lets be real. . . . . the only one thats a litle far from its reach is the 2010, which only has 315hp, where as v6 has 305
Just because it has nearly the horsepower does not mean that it will out run a V8. Look at the Camaro V6. 0-60, 6 secs. With a Quarter mile UNDER 100 mph.
The old 4.6 V8 has a lot more TORQUE than the new V6.
Id take the Old 4.6 any day over the new V6. V6s are for RICERS, not muscle cars
Not to mention, "05 and up mustang model owners will feel when this v6 gets minor upgrades and shits on them"
You can get 500 hp out of a 4.6 You can always get more power from the V8 than a V6.
@2010GT500 Exactly! The GT still has way more torque. As Shelby said, "Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races." It will be at most, a second faster then the 2005-2010V6. The 2011 V6 is only getting a 40lb ft increase in torque. 240-280. Yeah an increase of 95hp may seem awesome but torque is really whats important in a car. Its what you "feel" when driving and accelerating, not horsepower.
youre a faggot and a half. you dont know that. The 2011 V6 and the 05-10 gts both have about the same power. You're forgetting the v6 is Lighter! Stop making gay ass asumptions
3.8L V6, 305 horsepower. 30 mpg. The good thing about the V6 mustang. Is that it is going to deliver fantastic power, and amazing fuel performance. With the shell of a muscle car. There's really not much you can complain about with the V6 mustang. The Nissan GTR is a 3.8L V6 with twin Turbo. Look forward to this Setup for mustang tuners.
ooo well i had a good thing going..now im going to get dusted for sure with these new v6's.....hmmmmm is it time for a 5.0 gt upgrade or decide to turbo /good head work
the 2011 v6 im sure is going to have similar 0-60 times but the v6's will be a tad off in 1/4 times. compared to the 4.6 gt's..i would not be surprised if they are about .2-.3 secs off...but most likely its going to be anywhere from high 13s-mid 14s
seriously i don't get ppl like you that simply cannot do anything more interesting that writting SHIT on these clips... Tell us at least 3 heavy reasons for you to say this Mustang looks like a "79 datsun"... or simply go anywhere else and stop fucking around, idiot
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
they've killed the mustang! only cool thing about this one is the sequential tailights! garbage now! ford needs to put the mustang away for a few years like chevy did to the camaro!
@sdqualitylawn yea totally.. thats probaly why its sells so good and has only good reviews... dude.. go back driving that 79 datsun or something of you
@sdqualitylawn your comment is gonna the dumbest comment of alltime chevy shut the camaro down because they where not selling. it wasnt some great plan to stop making them for a little bit and then bring them back and still have a car with a shit load of tsb's and recalls
what the fuck is that light up cup holder supposed to represent? does it highlight that you are a fat slobbiness jack stain that needs soda with you at all times....other than that pretty cool car....btw I heard the new corvette instead of the cup holder it comes with a viagra dispenser ...is that true?
Does anyone know if this is Ford's new "Eco-Boost" engine? I've been seeing HP numbers at 305! That's 5 more than the S197 GT! But nothing, and I mean NOTHING, beats the growl of a Mustang V8!!
No it's just a naturally aspirated 3.7l v6. Ford has released info on it. Not really a secret anymore. You can see it on ford's website under mustang. It's at the bottom left.
i should been more clear the mustang is not getting the ecoboost everything else is and the Lincoln line up is and they're doing a f-150 and most of the other ford cars except the mustang
for as much as they're doing to the power end of the car, i wish they'd fix the god-aweful control panel. It is the most unorganized and crappy control system. A million buttons that all look the same on a flat panel.......i know it's not the MOST important thing.......but COME ON!
my 2009 v6 has 220 hp and the computer will not let it exceed 117mph, they are going to have to take the speed limiter off the computer, or what is the point of an extra 85 hp.
My 2009 v6 pony package is enough for me, I get a lot of people making fun of me for just buying a v6 mustang, then I find out they tool around in a corolla.
@EnjoyLeech I have heard about them making an EcoBoost version of the V8 for the F150's. But it was supposed to be from the 4.6.. Maybe they changed it to the 5.0.. That would be sweet! 550+ horsepower!! lol
If only the 6spd manual transmissions were't bad on these cars...

Sux for everyone who bought a 2010 gt. the 2011 v6 almost matches all of the 2010 gt's dynamics.
Youngstunna7s 1 year ago
Not to mention better economy and (I think) less weight.

exactly

Probably a bit less up top, too.

The 2011 V6 Mustang will be around $30,000 give or take. You can find a good used 2006 to 2009 Gt for around $15,000 to $23,000. I own a 2006 PP Mustang that I will be trading for a 2010 Gt.

Base price for a v6 2011 is around 23k with destination.

Need some advice from those of you who own mustangs. Would you get the 2011 v-6 or an earlier GT. The v-6' s have 305 hp, and the earlier gt's have 300 hp. So you would think the v-6's would have more power, weird saying a v-6 has more power than a v-8! What would you suggest?
micah1116 2 years ago
get a gt. it has lots more torque
fahsa1 2 years ago
If it were me, I would get the V6.
-Better Fuel Economy
-Lighter Weight
-Better handling since the 2010 revisions improved the Mustang greatly in that regard
However, the benefits of V8 are
-noise
-torque
-a sense of pedigree? since Mustangs and V8s go together ever since the original....

That is my view.
79274333 1 year ago
@79274333 I would agree, I can't find hardly any 2010 gt's. What about a 2005-2009 gt or the 2011 V6?
micah1116 1 year ago
Even a 2010 gt does not make sense as it has 300 hp,even less than the 2011 v6 and it will have a much heavier front end, be more expensive to insure and heavier on gas, the same goes for the 2005 - 2009 gt, the 2011 gt will have 415 hp.
I think the 2011 v6 will tick all the boxes, why buy some guys ex v8 and you never know how it was treated, when you can get a new 2011 v6, get the same hp, a new warranty, and it will be the new version for a long time and thus hold its value well.
79274333 1 year ago
actually the '10 gt has 10 more hp and 45 more pound feet of torque than the '11 v6, but I do agree with you. I feel sorry for anyone who bought a 2010 gt without knowing that the '11 v6 would have almost as much power, better gas mileage and less weight, and a lower price.
frznman 1 year ago
I feel even worse for people who rushed into the new shape 2010v6 mustang with the old engine, who will ever give then a good price for it. It is not quite the old or new model, a bit of a bastard child that no one will ever love.

@79274333 doesnt matter if you leased the mustang :p
Moemxxxking 1 year ago
@Moemxxxking I would never lease a new car myself. you pay all that money and end up owning nothing, either way the new 2011 v6 mustangs are hitting the showrooms soon and are priced the same as the 2010 model which is good news.

I feel really sorry for the people that bought the 2010 Mustang GT, The 2011 V6 Pushes 305hp where as the '10 GT only pushes 10 more horses for a 315hp rating, that sucks for them
gutes64 1 year ago
@gutes64 True that! But the '10 GT has 325 ft-lbs. where as the '11 V6 has 280. How big of a difference is 45 ft-lbs. though?

He feels so much like a jackass he has to lie about what year his mustang is haha
jiujitsufighter123 10 months ago
@79274333 THe 2010 GT has 315 HP, but I get your point. It'll probably be 5-6 months before I actually go and get a mustang, so hopefully by then I can test drive both and see which one I like better. I would think the 2011 V6 would have faster acceleration and top speed because of it's lighter weight, over the 2005-2009 mustang gt's. Once they actually come out, my decision will become much easier, thanks for your advice!
micah1116 1 year ago
One thing, my 2009 v6 had a speed limiter to 117mph, ford limit the top speed of v6 mustangs and will do the same with the 2011 v6, but it does not effect acceleration, you can take it off, but could have warranty issues.
79274333 1 year ago
@79274333 supposedly the 2 piece drive shaft breaks at speeds over 117. pretty scary stuff if your drive shaft breaks at high speed, so im happy for the limiter
blackstallion4209 1 year ago
You would not have much sympathy from ford if you took the limiter off and expected a warranty repair with the drive shaft poking through the roof.
79274333 1 year ago
@blackstallion4209 Why would the drive-shaft break unless it has bad u-joints or an imbalance.
Some shit just makes no sense.
Who started this rumor ?? chevy guys ??
millwrightman99 1 year ago
ya i wasnt too sure but ive heard from multiple sources, some friends and others mustang forums, that the driveshaft is prone to "fail" at speeds over about 120. i dont know if its true either but unless i get a few grand laying around i dont really wanna test it lol
blackstallion4209 1 year ago
@blackstallion4209 -- Obviously rumors start and then grow like fish stories.I have even welded my own drive-shats in my garage and none failed -- so now they fail out of a brand new car --- this is utter bullshit..Like I say started like those morons picking on Toyota acceleration ---- Retards should not be allowed to drive --- never learned what brakes are for ------- I hav my throttle stick on my old charger in 1971 ---- I was able to stop it no problem --- any reason to knock the top dog .

How much of a difference is 40ft. lbs. of torque? The 05-09 has 40 more compared to 11 V6.
1HeartnSoul 1 year ago
I will simply quote Carroll Shelby and say "Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races." The older GT, despite the weight difference, will still be able to pull a little harder. Personally I'd be happy with either one. The 2011 v6 is going to be great for enthusiasts and it will definitely outsell the GT (per usual).

@HarrisonForsyth You can find used GT's from 15-18K everywhere, they are defintely an affordable car.

the v6 get 305 hp??? dam we came a long way since the 5.0 of 89-92
winningcirclemedia 2 years ago
I was thinking about buying a GT with the V-8 300 hp, but now I really might have to reconsider! Does anyone know how much the V-6's are going to sell for and when they are supposed to come out?
micah1116 2 years ago
They will start from 23000 V6, with standard dual exhaust and rear lock differential :) with 6 spd manual
the V8 5.0 will base start from 29,500
NoxNoctisUmbra 2 years ago
That's not bad for a 305hp and 30 mpg. The previous GT's are 300hp. It'll feel funny picking a v6 over a v8. LOL! Do you know what the 0-60 time is for the new 2011's are?

@eric2074 Who cares? I honestly prefer better handling and better fuel economy over 2 extra cylinders, and 100hp that you can't use on the street anyway. Besides, I've heard an exhaust system on a V6 challenger that sounded very close to a V8.

i wonder how the 05 and up mustang model owners will feel when this v6 gets minor upgrades and shits on them
justralph17 2 years ago
i meant 05 and up mustang "gt" owners
justralph17 2 years ago
it WILL NOT be faster than an 05-10 GT. Probably 0-60 in 6 sec. whereas the GT can do it in 5 secs.
2010GT500 2 years ago
i think it would with minor modifactions, and im also only talking about mustang gt's from 80-2009. . . come on guy lets be real. . . . . the only one thats a litle far from its reach is the 2010, which only has 315hp, where as v6 has 305
justralph17 2 years ago
This has been flagged as spam show
Just because it has nearly the horsepower does not mean that it will out run a V8.
2010GT500 2 years ago
@2010GT500 Exactly! The GT still has way more torque. As Shelby said, "Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races." It will be at most, a second faster then the 2005-2010V6. The 2011 V6 is only getting a 40lb ft increase in torque. 240-280. Yeah an increase of 95hp may seem awesome but torque is really whats important in a car. Its what you "feel" when driving and accelerating, not horsepower.
Planeguy13 2 years ago

DonoftheBran 2 years ago
wow your probably a 15 yr old kid. The V8 HAS MORE TORQUE. It will whip the new V6 anyday.
Why doesnt the Camaro V6 beat the 05-09 GTs when it has a compatible specs to the new V6 mustang???
hmmm. Make a wild guess.
Its a sissy V6.

Look forward to this Setup for mustang tuners.

the 2011 v6 im sure is going to have similar 0-60 times but the v6's will be a tad off in 1/4 times. compared to the 4.6 gt's..i would not be surprised if they are about .2-.3 secs off...but most likely its going to be anywhere from high 13s-mid 14s
