  • Great video! Editing was excellent, pacing was really good. I liked how you added your personal opinion to things without having it intertwined with your well researched history. But then again learning or working on nerdy passions isn't really working! I never comment but I really enjoyed this! Not just some d bag repeating the same thing with their face plastered to the camera. Keep gaming and keep making mini documentaries!

  • NES Gauntlet is a great title.

  • you must have nice boobs !!!

  • this is like AVGN, only SFW.

  • This makes me wonder about unlicensed Sega Genesis games, partially due to one game that happened to be one of my fav games to rent from the store.. does not appear to be on any list of games when you look at official lists of released games.

Though it hurts that, due to me not fully remembering the game's name but remembering the gfx and gameplay, ( now at least.. at one point I could remember its name.. not anymore >< )

  • this is a pointless comment

  • Actually, Tengen released 23 nes titles in America.

  • @junj03 If you think thats a lot look at Jamesnintendonerd's collection....

  • You made an NES cart of Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt out of popsicle sticks!?!? O_O

    I love you. <3

  • i would pay $100 for that 5:35

  • 6:10 - this actually wasn't illegal in the US up until the DMCA was enacted. (I can't speak for other countries) As you mentioned earlier, Nintendo enforced their licensing policy through it's 10NES chip. (the reason grounding pin 4 works is because it puts the chip in key mode) Nintendo was able to win their lawsuit with Tengen because they had violated Nintendo's copyright in copying the 10NES's software in its entirety. However, the actual release of unlicensed code was not illegal. (cont'd)

  • It's actually a good thing it wasn't illegal, if you ask me. The NES provides an excellent platform for programmers to study on, as writing software for one involves topics from learning to write assembly to dealing with multiprocess environments. (a significant amount of functionality in the NES were delegated to coprocessors) On top of that, the 6502 was ubiquitous at that time, and assemblers are readily available for it. This makes the NES an appealing target platform for hobbyists. (cont'd)

  • Nowadays, it's possible that such an activity would be illegal under the DMCA, even though it is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. While I believe it is correct that pirated software is illegal, I wonder if we've gone too far in the limiting of perfectly legitimate behavior, even if the company selling the device doesn't want homebrew development to happen. I mean, we pay good money for these consoles; why shouldn't we be able to use them to their fullest extent?

  • annoying voice

  • @Willforbes296532 nope.avi

  • Codemasters also made Mig 29 Soviet Fighter, which is a pretty sweet game.

  • ur cartridge is great! how would u write an NES game?

  • @MrBlutos I find it irritating. Girls intentionally pinch their voice like that, it just sounds better to you guys when she talks about grenades and explosions. Sooooo she knows what shes doing!

  • Look at exactly 4:57 of this video, look at the textured grey brick background. It looks like initials! ARH.

  • @rinrygamegame Inside the slot where the Compact Cartridge is placed there is a recessed switch, which changes the Security/Region settings from position A to position B. :)

  • @strike123456789 You must feel like a fucking idiot for this comment.

  • @strike123456789 its a toploader dogbone controller!

  • I have that wacky golden game with the upside down label at my aunt's cottage.

  • i found an unlicensed NES cart called the ultimate stuntman published by camerica and licensed by code masters i would like to donate it if you would like it do you have an address i could send it to or do you already have this one? lol

  • I love Rolling Thunder and still have my NES copy made by Tengen.

  • when it said "that's me: at 0:23 did anyone else imagine tommy wiseau saying it?

  • you dont need to ground the fourth pin, its much easier to just cut it works the same (doesnt allow current through)

  • This is great Rinry. Thanks for the laugh!

  • It almost sounds like Nintendo's strict policies kind of made things both good and bad for developers... You could say they were running some sort of dictatorship then, but then again it would make your game more likely to sell if your game was good. ...Though that's not always true.

  • LOL...funny...rainbow popsicles and it works.

  • @PumaM12LRV Couldn't be because it's 2010.

  • what's the name of that thing you are putting the game on at: 5:42???

  • You forgot Battle Kid!

  • @TheAb0rtionist

Battle kid was in the video.

  • @TheAb0rtionist) Battle Kid is a homebrew. There's no way homebrew developers could get the Nintendo Seal of Quality.

  • color ;)

  • @elpadroney obviously you cared enough to click on a link that said 'NES' in it.. AND take the time to watch and it comment on it.

If you like Sega better, why the fuck did you click this video??? Obviously there are a lot of people who like NES and 'would care' and if you had any brains at all, you would know that. The world does not revolve around you. You are one stupid piece of shit who should just be killed as quickly ass possible.

  • @Tebok73509 xD hahahahaha what hahahahaaha

  • @elpadroney Not everyone you meet will like the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis as much as you do. This is unlicensed NES games we're talking about!

  • @Krisilke I'm a solo gig now :3

  • @rinrygamegame

    What happened to Jot?

  • alien 3 wtf!!

  • @AngryMrBubbles I find that retro consoles come in more clear on HDTV's when you use the coaxial cable rather than the composite cables.

  • 5:41 she's hot

  • @swr1240 That's a nice thing to say I'm sure she would be flattered.

  • YAY! Rinry on the first most popular page. Congrats!

  • @rinrygamegame I want a Rainbow super duper cartridge :C

  • @rinrygamegame aren't Camerica game genies rare and cost 100 bucks on eBay? (plus bad quality) well I'm lucky to get one. because i got an NES with that game genie and eight games for only 60 bucks! ( i also have a Galoob game genie because the Camerica one always had problems)

  • Amiga 500 FTW !

  • I am just going to say , TENGEN Ms. Pacman is Better then the Official namco nes release not all can be bad

  • Love your videos Rinry. Always interesting and informative. Don't know why you have so many haters. I guess when you are on Digg everyone will see your videos rather than retro nerds like me who found you on our own.

  • wtf is onlicensed and onlimited, otherwise good job and thanks for the info.

  • @aqlpskwo wss new newfag?

  • "onlicensed"

  • Rainbowed colored popsicle stick NES game cart. LMAO

    -kid thunder

  • I have a copy of the game called "Bee 52" that used that same silver cartridge type with the switch on the back as Quattro Sports. It's a great game that pays fantastically! What's that all about?

  • I want to make one now! :D

@bluej774: It is probably pronounced the way she said it, as Japanese G's are always the hard sound.

  • Wow, good video

    very informative.

  • dat voice

  • Who cares...

  • @redshoesjeff Yup... That's exactly what I said in the video. It even showed a huge Atari logo when I said it. In the text it was mentioned that Ultra was owned by Konami.

  • @rinrygamegame Oh yeah, my bad. I guess I was paying more attention to the text than the audio.

  • Rainbow cartridge!

  • Marry me.

  • Nice rainbow colored popsicle stick cart.

  • @bluej774 TENGEN... Pronounced TEN-GEN with a hard G as in the Japanese word "TENGEN", referring to the central black dot on a Go board, the game from which the name Atari was also derived. The Tengen brand was spun off for home conversions of Atari Games' arcade games.

  • @bluej774 It's a Japanese word. They pronounce their G's with a hard sound.
