Yes; the clock had accidentally stopped during the obstacle course for about 3 seconds, and they grabbed the flag with 1 showing. The music had very much evidently stopped BEFORE the flag was grabbed, and Marc has said, when the clock isn't working, that the music is synced to the clock.

@wschmrdr The only reason he even got it with one second left, is because he was tall too. If he wasn't as tall, he might not have even gotten the flag in time even with the clock stalled.

I wonder why they didn't keep those backdrop lights throughout the rest of the 1990 season of FDD (this is an early episode of the season since it has the 3 digit scoreboards). The ones they used on later episodes in the season were real faint and sometimes hard to see.
