  • it's interested how things were more innocent back then...no b#@!& references, no women in tight clothes on the women that are dancingmore fun, not whole lot of frowining on every video and picture . Hip Hop needs to get back to that.

  • wow that was the sh!!t back in the day my cousin used to kill this joint back in 1990 lmaol there will never music like that again time sure went by.

  • the one person who doesn't like this doesn't know how to move it.

  • @mlcoolk1 One person doesn't know how move it but knows how to do the gay stuff like Jerkin'

  • The last verse is absolute fire. "Straight from the heart and it shot to the brain/from the hand to the pen and then onto fame/And fortune, suckas I be scorching and torching/On and on to victory me I be marching."

  • @wallyworld776 Yea,that last verse is hot." Dam I like jam so I like Smuckers''. This is true hip hop Speial Ed used to bring it back in the day.

  • FLATBUSH MASSIVE IN EFFIDECK!

  • big chune!!

  • This right here was a Party Jam.....Mad Dances back then!!!!

  • The energy we use to diss this new era of music is most definitely going to show the world that we don't appreciate the powers that taking over our entertainment industry. Right? All of us that hate how real artists that we used to love and are still doing it are not being promoted will search for them and support them I'm sure. Long live Hip Hop real will forever be real fake will be for ever that.

    Peace

  • This is when Hip Hop was so damn fun it was a breath of fresh air ! I miss this era man for real !

  • now this iz " REAL" rap!!!!! no guns, no rims, no dimonds & yachts, and shit, just havin a good time wit luv not hate . big up 2 Speacial Ed

  • 100 % Dope

  • fuckin 17?? wtf fuck souja boy

  • This was when hip hop was ours and everyone had to pay their dues to join in. To join, you either had to be able to dance, to dj, or flow on the mike. It was at its height of creativity and you were watchin' to see who was innovatin' or imitatin'. Every part of the country had its own flavor, but it was the creative outlet where everyone WANTED to show off what they could do, just for the love of it. Hip hop got lazy and lost its creativity. No one dances anymore. Sad. The love is gone.

  • or the flashy clothes and sets

  • i miss the days when everyone woman in a video didn't have to look like an exotic model; what's wrong with puttin the around the way girl in ur video if she's a good dancer?

  • I can't believe this song is 20 years old. Wow. . .

  • This right here is Classic! Man, they don't make songs like this no more in HipHop. Damn shame!

  • I was 1 when this was released :) I miss scratching in Hip Hop. I mean I understand that now turntables are rarely used in Hip Hop production where as back then the track wouldn't exist without them, but I always thought of them as an intrinsic part of the music. Maybe it's because it requires skill to scratch and modern producers are lazy. Or maybe it's that scratching is looked upon as old fashioned? I don't know. I just miss that sound.

  • @TwoTube2 You are right man these dj's are lazy and fake as hell !

  • @dhwand DJ's back in the day actually had skillz

  • True Hip Hop great late eighties RUN DMC,BEASTIE BOYS,LL COOL J,ERIC B /RAKIM,KRS 1,GANG STARR,KOOL G RAP ETC.. BY FAR FAVORITE GENRE OF MUSIC..

  • has anyoneone seen an instrumentle to this

  • @aliciakrysteen No instro released for this, & that's too bad is'nt it!

  • @aliciakrysteen you could easily make one yourself if there isn't an existing one, it's a pretty simple song, just loop the section between 0:21 and 0:30 about 8 times, then insert the section between 01:12 and 01:22. That's basically the song minus the rapping.

  • @TwoTube2 Oh man please it's more to it than that ! That's why this hip hop now is shit. It's about lyrical precision and flow not just the production !

  • Back then dancers were just as much a integral part of any rap performance, concert,or video. Scoob and Scrap,Heavy D`s Boyz, Hot Dog(Chubb Rock) Stezo and EPMD`s other dancers. So many dancers to name. Ed`s dancers are kicking it. I miss when it was all about perfecting an artform.

  • More FIRE

  • Special Ed was so FINE back in the day. He's still getting in! Oh yeah, this song with the *ish!

  • DDDOOOOPPPPEEE!!!!!!

  • Absolute classic, one of my fave tracks of all time, the remix is really dope too.

  • @SergSplurge you know good lyrics when you hear them...these young dudes today don't got shit on the old school ARTISTS. niggas these days just tryna get paid. back in the day rap music was an art form.

  • One of the best set of bars in rap history. Ed was so underrated. This nigga rides the shit out of this track.

  • dats y its no excuse for dudes like Soulja Boy, Hurricane "Piss", Lil Bow Wow or Lil Romeo. Dudes like EPMD, LL and ED were dropping classics at 16,17 and 18 years old.

  • i was playin this tape the other day

  • Classic Hip Hop......

  • This sh!t is sad to witness. The beat is dope ("Ms. Broadway" by Belle Epoque? C'mon, to quote Flavor), the lyrics are hot, and YOU CAN DANCE TO THIS SH!T!!!!!!! All of that is missing from the game now. Like I said, it's sad; I really feel for you younger cats that didn't grow up with this type of hip-hop...

  • Man, if he could freestyle like this. I'd say he'd be the best M.C. ever, Biggie wouldn't have nothing on him.

  • Damn I like jam so I wanna thank Smuckers! - love that line.

  • Remember, back in them days, a rapper like special ed could just be himself and rip up the track?

damn, son, the world has changed so much...

    Peace!

  • if you were a little kid in the 80s you got to start with the Gods of hip hop, Run DMC, Slick Rick, etc, then as a preteen you entered this classic era of hip hop with the countless brilliant groups that came out, then in your teens/early 20s you got the classic mid-late 90s era of Tupac / Biggie / Dre / Wu Tang, etc .. in other words you lived though the full spectrum of classic hip hop, consider yourself blessed.

  • Amen!

  • @gothamjediknight I was that kid who lived through the full spectrum of classic hip hop. We are indeed blessed.

  • @rockjohnson80 Me also man and i miss the hell out of it for real !

  • @gothamjediknight fuck yeah !!!! im 16 andf i agree 100%

  • @gothamjediknight I couldn't have said it better my self ! Right on the money !

  • @gothamjediknight

    thank you.,

    i was born in 1971,

so i was a teenager in the 1980's,

    & in my 20's in the 1990's,

so all you did was write my hiphop Life experience in your comment : )

  • @gothamjediknight Wow, this completely describes me! And yes, I do feel blessed and lucky to have experienced the golden age of hip hop while growing up. But God how sad I feel for today's youth and the garbage they're growing up with.

  • @gothamjediknight born in '74, you're all the way on point.

  • @gothamjediknight Amen and Amen! I grew up in that timeframe and there will never be another golden age of hip hop like that....

  • Dam I love that Sample is wicked. . . I grew up with the song and it still makes me same dam I love it

  • this was my favorite track from him of all time;i memorized the line: "some of dem say god some of dem say jah is the maker, but i say why say, and who is to say? 'cuz you make yourself what you are today, and only to yourself do you have to prove it, c'mon let's move it". i miss those days which really weren't any simpler than now since we we've all been living in the post 1984 crack epidemic street culture of the 80's, 90's, and today, but at least the music was better and more meaningful.

  • Hell Yeah I know the lines also. I still Bang this song when im driving around the town LOL.

  • He looked like Snoop back in G Than Video. Lol

  • Back in the days when rappers had dancers!!!!!

  • damn right. Now most rappers have strippers...

  • top old school track!!! still have the album on disc. this was best track by far.

  • i love my years of growin up on hiphop

1980 at age 8 - SUGAR HILL first album "RAPPERS DELIGHT"

1984 at age 12 - THE PEAK OF THE BREAKIN ERA & RUN-DMC arrived

    1988 at age 17 - RAKIM, KOOL G.RAP, KANE, & KRS-1 was out

    1993 at age 21 - WUTANG arrived

1995 at age 24 - EAST & WEST COAST RAP was at its peak, & the NEWYORK club seen was HOT

    2003 at age 31 - G-UNIT & EMENEM was on FIRE

but now in 2008 at age 37, HIPHOP IS DEAD, but im fortunate to be young in its best years :)

  • First Rap record on wax. Fatback Band, King Tim The III.

  • YOU SURE??, well im gonna have to research that shit dude

  • Alright, cool. Hit me back when you find your answer. Peace.

  • now I'm growing up listening to crappy rappers. I have to look hard to find dope songs from these days. I wish the radio would put good mc's on instead of lil wayne or soulja boy. Your generation was lucky, not mine.

  • lol, thats alright shorty, as long as your heart & soul feels the ol school, then you good :)

  • sorry u had to put g-unit in there thats a shame. if u just look a little theres still some good shit out there, madlib, etc

  • sorry that u dont like G-UNIT'S music, thats an even more shame : (

"GET RICH OR DIE TRYING" classic : )

  • One of the best songs ever... Seriously, excellent msg, great vibe and 80's/90's inncoence

  • One of the best lyricks ever!

And this is the best version. HYPE!

"..Some of them say god, some say Ja is the maker

but i say why say and who is to say

cause you made yourself what you are today

and only to yourself do you have to prove it

    so come lets move it..."

  • mikeygeneral..trust me bredren, you know your history! I actually wrote a university paper on the influence West Indians had on the birth of rap music and the influence rap music has on the Caribbean today..even Grand Master Flash's grandparents were from Barbados..Guru, Phife, Chip Fu and a few others had family from Trinidad too. Soln4suh I agree with you 125%..I used to fly from Trinidad to London & NY back in the 80's/90's and buy albums..now I can't even be bothered to download stuff.

  • BROOKLYN! Jamaica West Indies - Produces some of the best Emcees! Heavy D Busta Rhymes Special Ed Biggy Grand Puba Sadat X KRS 1 Peppa Marley Marl Just Ice Plug 1 Etc Etc. • nahh man, special ed is indeed a hott emcee but today is the music video era of hip hop and even back then special ed had hundreds of thousands of female fans....so imagine if he was new and came out today instead of 1988?? i still remember when special ed was on the cosby show back in 1990 acting as a teen rapper sensation which led to rudy sneaking out her house to see him.
