this is based on the older cartoon not X-men evolution which kinda rewrote x-men. Cyclops was a prick in the old cartoon, sure he was a the second in charge, but once Wolverine got his head eventually straight, he became a great leader due to his extensive combat experience. If you ever get a chance to watch the older cartoons, you will see they messed up a lot of the story line. I loved to get up on Saturday morning when I was a little kid to watch X-men but the new movies ruined it for me.
The "90's series were very good, i didn't like the story but in Evolution i liked the story and the face of the X-Men, but in this "Wolverine and the X-Men I like NOTHING. Maybe I have to watch the cartoons, but after the trailer... I'll think about it...

but i just wanted to say i honestly and respectfully think you're biased against this show. sure, like u, i'm sick of marvel capitalizing on its films and new kids thinking they know everything from seeing them, and i'm a bit tired of getting wolverine shoved down my throat, but honestly, there wasn't much to complain about with this show.
the cast far exceeded my expectations, and with the exception of bobby, the origins story was very close to the original. how they were able to enmesh the various storylines so smoothly shows very good writing.
sure, there were a few wince-worthy lines, but the same can be said for evo, or tas. sure it has the film's handprint all over it, but i believe it did a great job of staying true to the original comics to some extent.

Well, the show is ok, but I just think there is too much Wolverine. I personally love the X-Men team in the show (Cyke, Kitty, Iceman, Emma, Beast, Angel and Wolverine). However, they changed characterisations of certain characters, like Cyclops (instead of being responsible, hes all angry and bruding). And Wolverine as leader? WTF? But yeah, the show is alright. I was being harsh on it for arugments sake. lol
wolverine as leader in place of cyke was the whole point, as charles points out, and truth be told, everyone reacted the way we'd expect them to if prof suggested it in the comics.
what made this team interesting was that it was more of a crisis situation then a transfer of leadership, logan practically got drafted because chuck and jean are awol, scott is 'emotionally compromised' and emma can't be trusted yet.
having wolverine as the leader was fine from a story perspective was fine by me...
remember after days of future past, when storm is depowered and scott has left? logan comes back to lead for a short time, but then command falls to kitty, the youngest member of the team.
the fact that logan remains one of the oldest members as the rest of the lineup continues to shift, shows that he is reluctant to assume leadership, and although they portrayed this initially in the beginning of the show, they could have stood to bring it up more...
someone pointed out that evo's characters were VERY well developed, and i think it's true. although the stakes are just as high, there is more chance for lighter filler in between that let's you know the characters and relate to them.
yes, i believe that wolverine is being pushed a little too hard, but i'm honestly not going to complain about this series. there is enough stuff to chew on in this show for fans of any type.

tas was classic, and it covered most of the bases for its time.
evo is unique in that there is no misunderstanding about it being an adaptation of the comics. in that, it had a chance to go real far, had they chosen to continue it. everyone was in character, but the writers were free to expand where they wanted to.

It's true, once you get into it you'll keep watching it 'til there are no more episodes to watch. Took me less than a week to watch all of season one as well, it's a very good show.
in your defense though, i agree with what you said about x3. dark phoenix is an ambitious story to cover in a single movie, and to try and just squeeze it into a different storyline about the cure was dumb.
the old animated series is a classic, and always will be. as for its overall feel, it was the most like the comics. the only problem i had with it was that the characters had no secret identities! they almost always referred to each other by codenames and rarely appeared out of costume.
x-men evolution was a little too teenybopper, but i was impressed that the stakes were no less higher than in other stories. they still fought world ending powers.
it was pretty brilliant though. and ya they covered so many things in 1 season i thought i already finished the whole show and i just remembered this is season 1 lol this show is bad ass.

origional wolverine wasnt even part of the xmen he joined later. because of this he has become rather popular and that y he main charecter of the group know. origional he just stared in odd comics as like an assain. the he got he own comic then he joined the xmen. he still the best one though

If you ever get a chance to watch the older cartoons, you will see they messed up a lot of the story line. I loved to get up on Saturday morning when I was a little kid to watch X-men but the new movies ruined it for me.

The "90's series were very good, i didn't like the story but in Evolution i liked the story and the face of the X-Men, but in this "Wolverine and the X-Men I like NOTHING. Maybe I have to watch the cartoons, but after the trailer... I'll think about it...

the cast far exceeded my expectations, and with the exception of bobby, the origins story was very close to the original. how they were able to enmesh the various storylines so smoothly shows very good writing.
sure, there were a few wince-worthy lines, but the same can be said for evo, or tas. sure it has the film's handprint all over it, but i believe it did a great job of staying true to the original comics to some extent.
x-men are portrayed differently from evo or tas, but not badly atall

Well, the show is ok, but I just think there is too much Wolverine. I personally love the X-Men team in the show (Cyke, Kitty, Iceman, Emma, Beast, Angel and Wolverine). However, they changed characterisations of certain characters, like Cyclops (instead of being responsible, hes all angry and bruding). And Wolverine as leader? WTF? But yeah, the show is alright. I was being harsh on it for arugments sake. lol

wolverine as leader in place of cyke was the whole point, as charles points out, and truth be told, everyone reacted the way we'd expect them to if prof suggested it in the comics.
what made this team interesting was that it was more of a crisis situation then a transfer of leadership, logan practically got drafted because chuck and jean are awol, scott is 'emotionally compromised' and emma can't be trusted yet.
having wolverine as the leader was fine from a story perspective was fine by me...

remember after days of future past, when storm is depowered and scott has left? logan comes back to lead for a short time, but then command falls to kitty, the youngest member of the team.
the fact that logan remains one of the oldest members as the rest of the lineup continues to shift, shows that he is reluctant to assume leadership, and although they portrayed this initially in the beginning of the show, they could have stood to bring it up more...

someone pointed out that evo's characters were VERY well developed, and i think it's true. although the stakes are just as high, there is more chance for lighter filler in between that let's you know the characters and relate to them.
yes, i believe that wolverine is being pushed a little too hard, but i'm honestly not going to complain about this series. there is enough stuff to chew on in this show for fans of any type.

i like all three of the x-men shows (i haven't seen pryde of, but everyone says it sucks, so until a fan i respect gives it props i'm gonna steer clear of it).
tas was classic, and it covered most of the bases for its time.
evo is unique in that there is no misunderstanding about it being an adaptation of the comics. in that, it had a chance to go real far, had they chosen to continue it. everyone was in character, but the writers were free to expand where they wanted to.

Of corse I watched X-Men TAS! Its how I originally got introduced to the X-Men world. Your far from hitting the nail on the head. Evolution was made for a younger audience. It made the characters accessable to kids by having them in school. No it wasnt straight from the pages of the comic, but it was fun. This new show, is just revolving around Wolverine! What a freaking surprise! Im so sick of just seeing Wolverine. They are making him BIGGER than the X-Men franchise, and it pisses me off!

2nd, you are telling me to watch past season 1, because it got better. Well I'm asking you to watch Evolution Seasons 3 and 4, because it got damn good.
3rd, X-Men Evolution gave us X-23, the character. What has 'Wolverine and the X-Men' given us?
4th, Wolverine is being shoved in everyone's faces, and most of us are sick of it. Hugh Jackman is great, but we had 4 Wolverine movies in reality.

atcually IT IS a great point dude the movie made 360 million even though it wasnt that good.the only xmen movie i really liked was the first one(x2 and x3 sucked as well imo).origins was nothing spectacular i wasnt expecting anything good just an ok popcorn munching enjoyable time which is what i got.and the total gross makes it successful enough to warrant a sequel which is what marvel is gonna do milk the damn franchise.and we are getting deadpool and magneto soon which is awesome.

in your defense though, i agree with what you said about x3. dark phoenix is an ambitious story to cover in a single movie, and to try and just squeeze it into a different storyline about the cure was dumb.

the old animated series is a classic, and always will be. as for its overall feel, it was the most like the comics. the only problem i had with it was that the characters had no secret identities! they almost always referred to each other by codenames and rarely appeared out of costume.
x-men evolution was a little too teenybopper, but i was impressed that the stakes were no less higher than in other stories. they still fought world ending powers.

i like all 3 of them they are good in their own reasons. i like how evo shows everybody's story but u goto admit wolverine and the x-men has a better A-team than evo. cmon now wolverine, cyclops, beast, shadowcat, storm, iceman, icequeen, forge, nightcrawler, rogue and future x-men prof x, bishop, berzerker, vanisher, polaris. closest to the comics by far. i mean spyke was cool and all but he was made for the show. and i dont really like gothic rogue no offense to goths rogue isnt the goth type.

Why is there no Gambit, or rather why isn't he a frequent character on the show? Perhaps this is a biased opinion but I feel that ALOT of people are disappointed that he's not one of the major characters. When will marvel learn that the Cajun is a popular character and they should stop leaving him out!

origional wolverine wasnt even part of the xmen he joined later. because of this he has become rather popular and that y he main charecter of the group know. origional he just stared in odd comics as like an assain. the he got he own comic then he joined the xmen. he still the best one though

He was in Hulk 181 (he was on the cover of 180 but only made a very small appearance in the final panel of the book) in '74 as a rogue "monster" that was running around Canada from Alpha Flight and the Canadian government ( reveled in X-Men revised 1975) running into the Hulk..he was never an assassin , and never in any other books till X-Men #1, although he was used as a pitch man of sorts in many comics . He joined the re-invented X-Men in 1975 in Giant Sized X-Men #1
