Why do people call the Lord's day "Sunday" when God told us right in the middle of the 10 commandments which day is His Sabbath? "The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord Thy God." I once saw a sign on a store that said "we are closed to keep our Sabbath" (on a Sunday) I wanted to write...nice that you're keeping YOUR Sabbath, but think about this, God asked us to keep HIS Sabbath (see Exodus 20:10 KJV) He didn't ask us to keep a man-made tradition of Sunday as Sabbath.
You did not quote all of the text --- Why?? It says, "sabbaths which are a shadow of things to come" which refers to the ceremonial sabbath days like the Passover, Day of Atonement, etc., which ended at the cross. Colossians 2 is not speaking of the Ten Commandment Sabbath day which is eternal as are the other commandments. Galatians 4 does not remove the Ten Commandments, it just says we are not condemned if we are in Jesus, His Holy Spirit guiding our paths in tune with the Law in our heart
Well Praise the Lord for you guys. We celebrate the Lord's day which is Sunday. We Gentiles were never required by Apostle Paul to keep the Jewish Sabbath. Colossians 2:16 says, "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days." These things are not necessary for salvation. Paul teaches that a Christian is freed from leagl and ceremonial obligations of the Sabbath. Galatians 4:4--9
Over the years we have all been lied to by many false religous leaders and so called prophets. Many things we have been taught are not even in Scripture and millions have swallowed so many lies by these false leaders. If you are a truth seeker, please visit the web site which is displayed in my picture and user name and take the time to read some of the articles... You will be very shocked. There is an audio there that will shock you.
I worship everyday my LORD, but on His 7th day of resting in Him, I rest totally in Him and forget the worldly burdens of today for that holy 24 hrs. I talk with Him all day, and He blesses me for my loyalty that I show to Him with true praise and worship. "ALL" praise and worship to Messiah!
Should we follow the Biblical guidelines with regards to observing it or are their Scriptural modifications given in order to keep it differently today than the way it was commanded to be kept?
According to the Bible we are to "keep it holy"; undefiled with secular activities. In Exodus 20:8-11, God states as well that we place no burden of work for our behalf, upon others, even as we cease from our own works for that 24-hour Quality Time period with our Creator who desires our fellowship on HIS OWN holy day (Isa. 56:1-8, 58:13,14).
The point of the Sabbath is our special "R & R time" with Christ, coming apart from the day-to-day routine of life.

How does one observe the Sabbath?

Indeed it is.. Man changed the names of the day and besides there is proof that the Catholic changed the day of worship they admit to it.
