@Idarystad It was in the mid-'50s. I don't remember the exact date, but I saw it when it the first time it ever aired on TV. It would have been in 1955 or '56. That's when the original series ran on ABC network.
@countrygirlsrock1000 Not joking, but I was wrong. It was Carl Smith to whom she was married, NOT Faron Young; but she did flirt with Faron Young a lot on the "Grand Ol' Opry show, which is the origin of this video--on the other hand, she flirted with Carl Smith on the show, too. Faron and Carl were her "straight" men for her comedy routines. After Carl Smith, she married to Edwin "Rip" Nix, a football player turned cop turned race car driver. Her third and last marriage was to Johnny Cash.
She is so pretty in these videos though, like my idea of the perfect girl (moreso when she wears lipstick and lets her hair down). No wonder Johnny Cash was so devoted to her.

I heard the Peter Lynd Hayes version when little. His version is fuller.
What i like about this Carter version is the pizzicato accompaniment. Delicious. And she does it prettily. Little gem.

That girly lisp voice is an act, right? On the other videos she speaks normally.

Yeah, it's an exaggeration of her accent. You should have heard her do "Aunt Polly" lol, now that was corn-pone.

Unfortunately they never really put the dates for the shows. But based on her hair and the songs I would place it around '53-'54
