i understand she was born and raised in nyc but i was too and she's wrong about saying crack ruined harlem. crack came out in the mid 80's, so why did harlem look like shit in the late 50's, 60's and the 70's? even way back in the 30's...harlem was one of the most dangerous places in the nation. look up harlem in the 70's and tell me if crack did all that.

that was in the 60s and 70s. when the mafia (remember, the mafia doesn't deal drugs) in the 20s, 30s and 40s...harlem was one of, if not the, most dangerous places in america. in 1920, for example, there were 100+ murders in harlem alone. drugs did not destroy harlem. harlem has been a dangerous ghetto since the early 20th century. look it up and then get back to me.

Is that little donut shop there still a block down from path mark ? I loved that place. Or the library ? they had all these old guitars on the wall. The place was always bursting with energy, there was a church on my block and they would sing on sunday, so cool... I thought I was the only white dude in Harlem, nobody would sell me weed at 1st. I remember going out the the rest of NY and thought man, the people in Harlem

I am a white Canadian dude, I came to NY with nothing, and ended up getting a bed just off 125 and lex for like $6 a night. The place was still full of the the last guy who died theres stuff, He was a black music man and actor and stuff... I used to hang out at his desk and one night I wrote a amazing song I think he wrote threw me.
I loved Harlem, after living in snob Canada, all the black people talked to me I felt like person.

Listen to what she's saying, it used to suck, I remember it growing up, you KNEW never to go outside at night. She's walking major streets, go on some of the numbers at night, it's still pretty drug ridden.
But yeah, it's getting nicer, the old building I lived in is torn down and million dollar condos are up now. It's sad in a good way.

no man ive been going to harlem for a decade and a half and I'm white...you'll be fine just u have to know where you're going. same with any neighborhood in new york. There used to be alot of crime there but not anymore. It's been gentrified like crazy
