  • damn she's a str8 Dime of that Fyiah...could get me high as shit

  • I visited New York ... and I went to Harlem just to see how it looks like...

I cant describe the hate tha black ppl were having in their eyes against me... :(

    ... I went away

  • @Patriotistis You sure it was because you were white? Cause there are tons of white people who live in Harlem now..It's definitely not rare to see white people in Harlem.

  • @emergencyexit16 ....I was just a tourist my friend...why else?

    tons of white ppl there?

thing is I havent seen any white or asian person in the hole area...exept from a Korean policeman that was like anxious ...:S

  • @Patriotistis That's odd because Harlem is very quickly becoming gentrified..Plus, there's the Spanish Harlem part which is filled with non-blacks...In a city as diverse as new york city, it just seems odd to me that everyone was astounded to see a mediterranean guy in their neighborhood. Interesting...Plus, I know white people who go to clubs and restaurants in Harlem all the time without any problems.

  • I wonder if this video would have been the same if it was shot at night.

  • ur an inspiration

  • I dont think its safe to have that small dog by the balcony

  • She looks sticky I don't want to touch her.

  • Bre es maravillosa y hermosa, al igual que Harlem: La gente es muy ignorante en no querer visitar este hermoso barrio con enorme legado cultural negro e hispanico. I love Harlem

  • A mi me han dicho que es un lugar muy peligroso, mi hermana fue a New York y los taxistas no querían llevarla allí por miedo y le dijeron que ni se le ocurriera entrar en Harlem

Some people have said to me that it is a very dangerous place, my sister has been in New York and the taxi drivers did not want to take her there for fear and they said to her that it happened to enter to her Harlem

(sorry about my english i used a translator)

  • awesome dog.

  • that's a hell of a woman.

  • Bre is a cutie-pie and a great spokeswoman. Good tour.

  • I watched this whole video and Bre let me tell you honestly. That your beauty is not just on the outside, it is laced in your soul also. You are incredibly beautiful, complexion, hair and smile. You do not need a young girl on the train or a guy on youtube to tell you this. But you are. Keep up the good work!

  • Bre I wish you knew that it was part of the plan from the beginning. There was a point when alot of black communities were thriving. Blacks took the bait, and now their communities have been bought right out from under them. When Malcolm spoke your community should have listened. He warned of what would happen, and it did. Malcolm was a wise black man, admired by this somewhat wise white man.

  • @idis0abad Because they are ignorant. No, you are not wrong. Did you mean to ask are there wealthy people living in Harlem? Harlem is black neighborhood, period. There are brownstones that are worth a million dollars or more. Harlem has changed so much that some Caucasians and Asians are moving there. Not that skin color matters but it was not like that before. There are beautiful apartments as well. The streets are alot cleaner than before.

  • is bree biracial?

  • cool place

    just to many negros

oh well no place is perfect!

  • @vontrop Too many negros? What is that suppose to mean? That is very ignorant. Yes, Harlem is a very cool place. Harlem, I believe is the black capital of the world. What do you expect? Please do not call black/African Americans negros. That is not acceptable at all. I do not think blacks are wanted anywhere else. They are not wanted in America period. So just let them live.

  • @Michaelmyangel1001 i am from detroit ,and believe me there are too many blacks there also.

what that means is that i couldnt live there if i wanted to.

black people dont like white people in detroit.

different food, music, morals , ect

i am not racist but the culture of black america is just to different

  • @vontrop Have U ever stopped 2 think that there r 2 many "whites" and that many non-white people find it difficult, practically unbearable, to share the Earth w/ whites, but r just 2 polite to say so? Considering the Earth's history w/whites, i.e. colonialism, what people like whites around? Harlem is popularly considered an historical landmark itself--a real cultural icon-- and has too many whites moving there...or as they say gentrifying it.

  • @2dasimmons look man white people don't just go into rooms and plot how they're going to dominate the world, just to fuck with the other races of the world. Most of us aren't those people. And it's never been that way. It's been the aristocracy all the time. It just so happens that the wealthy are white. They could have been black instead, but the success was arbitrary.

  • @jazzpsalti Not all whites are white supremacists, but too many are! This group has tried 2 play god with the non-white world although they have no right. Blacks have not done this and do not have the unique white history of colonialism although they could have if they'd wanted 2 b bullies as blacks had visited the other non-white nations--in peace--- by the time whites invaded. So, yes there is a difference between whites and blacks as evidenced in the "white brotherhood" of the police depts.

  • @2dasimmons Since we are not going to pave the way to the ultimate equality solution here on youtube, I have opted out of the discussion. All I can say is, the way you see the world is not going to direct us towards that solution, by my estimate.

  • Wow Harlem has come a long way. I'm glad to see that Harlem has changed for the better. I can remember 125th being run down and drug infested. Now life is getting better for the people who live there. I gald to see that.

  • OMG.. I know she did not cut off all that pretty hair most women would die 4!!

  • From an old white guy in Dixie: Today you are my inspiration. Thank You for a nice tour of somewhere I have never been. Please continue and you will inspire many. I can tell you have that something that not everyone has. Again Thanks.

  • Girl thank you for sharing this very personal story. On a political level we all have the same struggle worldwide and similar pain. Inshallah one day we will have peace and freedom after all the injustice. Dont give up.

Regards from Bosnia through Sweden to everyone who knows about this life

  • u r beautiful inside and out

  • Bre, you are really beautiful. I am so proud of you. Keep up the good work.

  • unfortunately, white leftwing liberals have moved in and are driving the rents, cost of living etc .up.There is a wall on st. nich with grafitti and it says just cause you own a condo in harlem doesnt make you a harlemite. I love reading about the white liberals getting mugged on bradhurst. its almost justice for acting so superior.

  • @scorzeny45 I love Harlem. I had to move from the area cuz I couldn't afford to live there anymore. Rent is SOOOOOO high. I will always be a Harlemite for life though.

  • hah, sorry white "boys" are coming into your hood and making it better. I bet your one of those ignorant mother fuckers who uses terms like "reverse racism" to make it sound like your not an actual racist. we're coming into all your neighborhoods and buying them out. forcing you to move, we've been doing this for centuries, just ask the native americans. know your place, BOY

  • she look like spike lee sister from do the right thing with that red dress

  • Thats a great looking woman, very interesting.

  • If you're from Harlem and you go to Nj and your looking for a hood that reminds you of home a lil bit go to uptown Elizabeth and you will feel at home

  • and to to brownsville if u wanna get shot at lmfao.. damn public housing

  • Will be arriving in New York on 15/01/2010 and go Hostel 99 .... I hope that I will be good

  • lol tha dog is like what the fuck!

  • Looks like South East London.

  • Comment removed

  • Bre, you are truly a rolemodel for people your own age, I wish I could have met you the last time I was in Harlem.

  • Thank you Bre! You've lightened up my day :)

  • this is cool...try to keep the theme of your video on one topic though (i.e. how mom brought you up, the effects of crack, harlem street music). i think if u focused on each of these in a seperate video it would be great. nice work!

  • This is beautiful a harlem jumpoff.....lol

  • what a beautiful young lady and a positive role model you are : )

  • HARLEM WORLD~!

  • your mama raised you rite , your belssed bre your a great example for our chidren

  • This was very very nice...Thanks for sharing. :0)

  • I was there the last month! I love Harlem!!

It's a great place in the world!

  • I WAS THERE 2 DAYS AGO!!! GREAT.

  • she would be a better talk show host than that trainwreck tyra banks..

  • we need the right crew of punks , to go around harlem throwing fireballs inside these million dollar condos and burning them down over night, just throw em and run across the street and hide in a nearby building , detroy them , cause argung and complaining isnt gonna get us kno where

  • omg i was thinking the same thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

seriously i think that everyday but i thought i was the only

one to think of it....they should burn down the condos..

  • I KNO RIGHT , HOW HARD CAN IT BE

  • Yeah, what Harlem needs is more boarded up buildings, homeless people, and drug houses so that the rent will stay low. Are you that stupid?

  • Love it. Great job!

  • that's great Bre, I like what you are saying about mentally distancing oneself. One can always at least do that, and that's the first step in recovering from a negative situation.

  • 3135th st Broadway is my home town :)

  • Saying "Harlem isn't nearly as bad as it used to be" is like saying "this piece of shit doesn't smell as much as it used to." It's shit.

That neighborhood is still one of the worst in the city.

  • i think even doe crime in nyc is down in 09 , but i think idk y but i just think crime in harlem is up in 2009 cause lately on the daily news ive been hearing about killings in harlem , almost as frequent as brooklyn , and more then the bx, maybe my eyes and mind are playing tricks to me

  • NO IT ISNT

  • You make me proud young sis.

  • I love those wide blocks in Harlem.

  • This is a peace video about Harlem. Word. You can sense her love and connection to Harlem. That's where it is. I have walked the streets of Harlem and I know where she's coming from. Going back soon...

  • i walked the streets of harlem and i dunno shit

  • i know this chick. she's cool.

that's amazing that she come so far from so little.

and harlem isn't nearly as bad as it used to be, no i wouldn't be hanging there to late at night, but i think that it's rap is way worse than harlem really is.

  • oh yea, i understand that doctors were selling cocaine and heroin then too, but why did it only effect harlem? it didn't. drugs had nothing to do with the downfall of harlem. harlem was hell before frank lucas was even born.

  • i understand she was born and raised in nyc but i was too and she's wrong about saying crack ruined harlem. crack came out in the mid 80's, so why did harlem look like shit in the late 50's, 60's and the 70's? even way back in the 30's...harlem was one of the most dangerous places in the nation. look up harlem in the 70's and tell me if crack did all that.

  • Frank Lucas introduced Harlem with his heroin brand "Blue Magic". Harlem had an issue with drugs, before crack.

  • that was in the 60s and 70s. when the mafia (remember, the mafia doesn't deal drugs) in the 20s, 30s and 40s...harlem was one of, if not the, most dangerous places in america. in 1920, for example, there were 100+ murders in harlem alone. drugs did not destroy harlem. harlem has been a dangerous ghetto since the early 20th century. look it up and then get back to me.

  • Heroin ruined Harlem in the late 60s and just when it started to recover in the early 80s crack cocaine came out (1984ish)

  • show it at night, are they still killing each other on bradhurst ? ITS STILL CRAP.Stupid white liberals who constantly get mugged ha ha.

  • I (as a potential fan) appreciate the Love Bre. I may be moving to Harlem soon. I just love the atmosphere. You, yourself being a production of Harlem is a plus. Admittedly didn't know who you were, (i work alot, not much time for media in the past) but the touching insight you've provided speaks much on your good nature. I wish you the best, ma. peace.

  • you are very beautiful keep the vlog comin they are awesome

  • Eastriver 1199 ..A building 4th floor ..harlem is the place 2 be...and where i grew up..history all over look it up suckas

  • for real i live near virgina tech .... ....u dont see me tellin people to look up its fucked up history!!

  • Beautiful video from a lovely young sister, Bre. Please know that everyone who moves to Harlem now is not the enemy. I am Black, from Detroit, and buying in harlem is like coming home.

  • Is that little donut shop there still a block down from path mark ? I loved that place. Or the library ? they had all these old guitars on the wall. The place was always bursting with energy, there was a church on my block and they would sing on sunday, so cool... I thought I was the only white dude in Harlem, nobody would sell me weed at 1st. I remember going out the the rest of NY and thought man, the people in Harlem

where NICE ! I smelled bad on day and someone said you stink ! so real !

  • Oh man, Harlem has yuppies now ? What is this world coming to ?

I am a white Canadian dude, I came to NY with nothing, and ended up getting a bed just off 125 and lex for like $6 a night. The place was still full of the the last guy who died theres stuff, He was a black music man and actor and stuff... I used to hang out at his desk and one night I wrote a amazing song I think he wrote threw me.

I loved Harlem, after living in snob Canada, all the black people talked to me I felt like person.

  • hi i'm hamza from morocco .thx a lot i pushie that

  • this is stuoid, Harlem is a part of nyc shes a retard

  • im from lenoxa ve and 138th st and i will never forget harlem the way it was before white ppl came i guess i feel the same way the indians felt about the conquest of america if you havent seen harlem before the white invasion then hurry bc your about to loose it once the african americans are pushed out the block parties are one of a kind and the brownstones are priceless hey harlem i love you

  • Gentrification at its finest.

  • You are a racist. Hey dumb shit, Harlem was founded by the Dutch, who happened to be white.

  • Really white!

  • Yeah I know. It just amazes me how black people think that Harlem was and always should be black. It wasn't always black and there is no reason to segregate it in the future. Embrace all races.

And why claim that black people being "forced" out anyway? They aren't. There is nothing stopping anyone from becoming successful and being able to afford more. Just ask Oprah or our President (or David Patterson who is also blind for God's sake).

  • @m015094 and?

  • wat ar todays rappers talking about?? ha it luks like a nice enough place

  • Listen to what she's saying, it used to suck, I remember it growing up, you KNEW never to go outside at night. She's walking major streets, go on some of the numbers at night, it's still pretty drug ridden.

But yeah, it's getting nicer, the old building I lived in is torn down and million dollar condos are up now. It's sad in a good way.

  • Liked the video....I have heard a lot about the church that Bre visited..Good stuff....

  • now they are alot of white that live in harlem now.. from 110th all the way to 155th street.. i from harlem so i know

  • Comment removed

  • Bre, thanks for the tour. I would like to visit the Apollo someday.

  • Why there don´t live any whites?? You know american people are one nation...blacks and whites together, so this is very very bad that there live just blacks!!!!! I just don´t understand it.

  • what? they're are whites

  • yea, they're moving on up...to the hood. lol, they are remodeling many buildings for the new residents.

  • She is pretty. Im white and have a black Senegalese girlfriend. Wonder how we would be reacted too and get treated in Harlem....

  • You will be well received. You probably won't even be noticed, unless you decide to draw attention to yourself.

    Take care.

  • ..Dumb

  • Bre is too cute...she shoulda won. I loved when the hood came out of her in the granola bar episode of ANTM lol.

    Harlem got so much soul.

  • harlem is like crenshaw of los angeles. Baldwin hills is in crenshaw

  • that's a damn lie...plus columbia university is in the heart of harlem

  • what I meant, is harlem is a black district of new york like crenshaw is a black community district of Los Angeles. and both have alot of black culture.

  • Your better off saying Harlem is like the ATL of NY.

  • Are you serious?

  • am i serious about what?

  • HARLEM is harlem

  • The reason that there are so many sneakers store in Harlem is because Grown men don't want to grow up and wear shoes.

  • Comment removed

  • yoooo its 55c i used to live on 130 st now im in mountgumery bronx ny

  • how mach for crack ?

  • haha, should've waited for the funny story at the end: what's she telling us? some def girl had the audacity to walk up to her and she had the clemency to actually talk to that freak despite the fact that she could not pronounce things properly - what a fine young lady she is. and the punshline from all this is, that she is beautiful, not the def girl, but bre, the dirty skank hoe who prolly lives in one of them 1 mill. condos up in harlem now, that all them other harlem residents can't afford.

  • hahahaha i thought that too, she was like, "man, deys condos goin up fah quarta million dollas" and then a minute later "okay, we back at my place" haha!

  • oh shut up you dumb hoe, yo nuthin but a dirty ass coconut

  • should have gave this tour at night, would have been a little diffrent. hey white liberals, next time ur eating ur politically correct meal a silivals. just look north . on the left hand side,, you will still see all the crack dealers. nothing changed,, harlem sucks

  • harlem all day. 145th street

  • i use 2 live in harlem i moved 2 the bronx in 2004

  • cuz of the dutch people it's called harlem and new york was new amsterdam like we have haarlem and amsterdam in our own country... but new amsterdam and harlem was like 400 years ago

  • My sister and I plan on sharing an apartment together. She wants to move to Harlem. Harlem is a beautiful place but I told her I'll think about it because I really do not want to leave Brooklyn. I love Brooklyn so much.

  • Comment removed

  • I love Harlem. Especially at night. The Jazz is some of the best I've ever heard.

  • oh really? i plan on moving to Harlem from NJ hopefully the end of this year.

  • So, what about white people, can we walk around harlem with no problem?, I go to NY like once every 3 years and have always been told not to go near harlem because I'm white, eventhough I'm not american but french. What's up with that?, cause I'd love to see the architecture arround.

  • watch?v=GsmzNB_eXek

It's nothing like the French suburbs, mate.

  • seriously? white people live in harlem. don't look scared and you won't get robbed.

  • i used to live in harlem...and i am white...never had a problem, even during the night, walking home...i think harlem has a certain artistic atmoshere, of course not in a common sense..it's pure expression of soul

  • im feelin that :)

  • no man ive been going to harlem for a decade and a half and I'm white...you'll be fine just u have to know where you're going. same with any neighborhood in new york. There used to be alot of crime there but not anymore. It's been gentrified like crazy

  • I love you, bre!!! I can't wait to meet you in Uptown!!!

  • she's beautiful

  • Bre that's nice keep it positive and simple.

  • Bre is one of my favorite models off of top models. "I'm not so what are we going to do now?"

  • Love your docu on Harlem i from DC weve got the same thing goin on!

  • my family is from dc..and i understand..i have aunts in brooklyn and a cousin in harlem

  • I was just in harlem a few hours ago. On 135 and st.nick

  • Great Video..

  • I've heard there's much crime in that area but nobody knows but New Yorkers. I've been there and it seemed okay.

  • clueless. since when has being 'political' made you great?!

  • I love u bre! one of my FAVS!!

  • Babygirl that shit was dope. You made our town proud <333

I no my hood ain't bin kind to alot of us but this kids got respect. Holla.

  • dAM diD SHE CUT HER HAiR?

  • Im going to Harlem for the first time enxt May I can't wait my friend told me once I go im not going to want to come back we'll just have to see im excited.

  • Harlem is being gentrified they renovating the area and putting up expensive houses it's sad

  • Why is it sad to see Harlem being renovated and made nicer? Did you prefer it in the 80's when crack took over??

  • She didn't say that it's sad to see Harlem being renovated. She said it's sad that the renovations are pricing the locals out of a place they once called home.

Do you live in Harlem or any other place experiencing gentrification?

  • Yes, I live in Harlem and bottom line is that you get what you pay for. If you don't want to pay a lot, you can always just live in a craphole ghetto. Making Harlem a nicer place isn't a bad thing. Would you prefer boarded up buildings and homeless people?

  • thats the dumbest shit ive ever heard. think people live in "a craphole ghetto" because "they don't want to pay a lot"? you think its a choice?

  • Yes, it IS a choice. They can either decide to live there or not.

Get a job that pays more if you can't afford it - unless , of course, they are too dumb or too lazy then I don't feel sorry for them.

  • wow
