  • keep texas from the south!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • With the huge success of DALLAS, was there any wonder one of the networks wasn't going to launch a daytime soap based in Texas somewhere? I don't think they tried to copy DALLAS, but TEXAS in its own way was brilliantly put together with an extraordinary goup of interesting characters played by a bunch of very talented performers. When some of the affiliates moved TEXAS to 11:00am I then started watching it and absolutely loved it. It never caught on with audiences though. :(

  • Texas!...the DALLAS of daytime tv.

  • J'aime les tartes aux pommes

  • .....and to this day, NO daytime serial (soap show) has ever featured one main actor -- male or female, as the lead ("starring role).

It's to Beverlee's eternal credit that she had this unique honor, even though she sadly never won a daytime Emmy for AW, TX, or GL.

@ Kim Zimmer ("Reva Shayne" on Guiding Light): you can eat turds and puke for all I care, because your acting abilitiies, attractiveness, and depth of on-screen charactrer pale in comparison to Beverlee McKinsey!!!

  • Scary....

  • This was one of my favorite shows growing up. I loved this theme. It was fresh and upbeat. The second Texas theme was good too, but I always liked this one better.

  • Hey, do you realize that at 0:11 was Charles Jay Hammer who played a Cowboy named Max who would later romance Alex #1 & 2 on Guiding Light.

  • @laminage

    yup!

  • This show jumped on a bandwagon but developed into it's own ,owning nothing but all credit to Pam Long and the amazing cast. The last 10months have never been topped in daytime! For those of us who stayed with it, we know how it was directly geared for we the viewers and WOW! Did it ever! I'll never forget the telethon and the melee during it. Ashley and Paige ruled! Pam Long and Lisbey Larsen were incredible. Thank you girls!

  • just from the opening title sequence alone it looks like this was a great show, im sorry i missed it (i was only 3 in '82, lol) but anyway i have a question, when Beverlee left is that when they brought on the recast of Iris, or did she come on after the show was canceled and the character went back to AW? (because thats the only recollection of her i know, in the last years on that show)

  • Iris was recast later on Another World. When Beverlee left Texas that was the end of her as Iris on both shows.

  • Thanx! I enjoyed the character of Iris on AW when i started watching in the late 90's before it got cancelled. That actress was really good, but I wish i could have gotten to see Beverlee's version of her. I only know her as Alex on GL, and i loved her on that show. Anyway, can you give me an overview of what "Texas" was about? How did she end up there from Bay City, and when Beverlee left "Texas" how was she written out, and did they try to get another big name to fill the lead? Thanx again! :)

  • There are a couple of YT samples during Iris' time in Bay City (/watch?v=Lg5ZU4ca-34) (/watch?v=1nPaVoIaxpA)...it's too bad that so much of the 1970s era is missing or taped over. The Texas storylines started during part of AW's run of 90-minute shows, where a few of the characters were introduced. Dennis moved to Houston to work at an art gallery, Iris followed and would soon encounter an old flame, Alex Wheeler. There is a Texas Wikipedia page with much more.

  • hey thanx so much for your response! i will look into that Wikepedia page...and by the way yours is pretty cool too! :) but yea i agree its a shame so much of that footage is gone! except for the fans like you who saved and post those classic clips like these, we'd never get to enjoy them again! if brain frons @ ABC had some damn sense he's air these shows on soapnet instead of the crap thats on there now...

  • texas is a rip off from dallas

  • I really liked when they changed the opening theme. I believe it was changed when the show became "Texas: The New Generation."
