thats impossible! how could you get Invicible mode on forever? thats not fair for me. I have this kind of game on my PS2 on sonic mega collection plus and on sonic the hedgehog, I don't have proper options. I only have Zone select but now, zone select doesen't work on mine because I was using it WAY TO MUCH! but luckily I saved were I left off in the Labyrinth Zone but it was hard because I only had one life left. but I managed to survive until act 3 on the boss because that was really hard!
Well, I thought it'd be easy to make a code to make each ring worth more than 8, but looking at the way it's structured, it looks like it isn't possible. Sorry, I thought it was.
when you open up gens and the game click file and there will be a option there that says game genie. click on game genie and it has a spot where it says add code. copy and paste the code. (u can get codes from websites) once u pasted the code click add code then ok. then when you have finished that. open up game genie and highlight the selected code u want to use. i hope this helps :D

Just one thing:
If you use that code, with the huge amount of rings you'll have, the score counting at the end of the stage will be very, very, very long.

Found the problem, it was the rom I was using. I was using a REV01 but the codes are for REV00.
