hey i see you're playing with just the left hand in the game can you set rock band 3 to show you both hands and you play both hands or in RB3 does it only allow you to play one hand?
@MrDEATH1215 All of the Rock Band charts are intended to be played with just one hand. Typically they follow the right hand, as it usually contains the melody, but they are fairly liberal with mixing in the left hand's part or just swapping to it completely when the right hand is not very interesting. The charts don't have two-handed versions.
@movieboy6 Yes, and absolutely. Look through my other videos and you'll get a pretty good idea of the quality of both. The only real downsite to the Hauppauge HD PVR is that it's not directly compatible with a whole lot of software, so it can be rather difficult to stream. Recording is fine, but you're basically limited to the media player they give you, or VLC. Nothing else really seems to support it directly.
@NintendoGurl1996 Depends on the song. This one took me about two hours to learn and FC. Some songs take weeks before I even think about recording a run. Once I start scoring 5* regularly, or think I am getting close to my goal for the song, I start recording every single attempt. Just in case I surprise myself with an FC.
@SuperGuy344 When I play Rock Band I am constantly watching the screen, but I will glance at my hand occasionally when the song allows. When I play my piano outside the game, however, I tend to memorize my music and then exclusively watch my hands and play from memory.
Part of what I love about Pro Keys in Rock Band is that is really IS how the song is played.
That being said, while watching this, I was playing along, and... I don't know if it's the video or really just the original recording of the song, but it's ever so slightly out of tune. It's obviously the right notes, but just BARELY detuned in one direction or another.
@AspireAndInspire Good ear. I forgot to mention in the video that I had to detune my piano down some in order to make it sound "right". I can't remember exactly how much I had to detune it, but I noticed the same thing right away when I started playing it; It just clashes horribly.
@ComicMan9 Both have their advantages, but unless you have an interest in learning to play the piano outside of Rock Band, you'll be fine with the wireless RB keyboard.
A full piano is certainly more sturdy and robust, but it's also a very expensive controller, if that's all you're going to use it for.
1) I guess your digital piano has lots of sounds, so I also guess you can use any of those sounds while playong Rock Band 3, right ?
2) Can you also play Normal Key Mode with your piano, or only Pro Keys ?
3) I may get a Yamaha Keyboard, something much cheaper than your bad ass Digital Piano, but it has MIDI ports, so do you (or anyone else) think that keyboard would also work for RB3 ?
4) I guess there's no "whammy bar", so to speak, right ?
@RageOfOrder Huge thanks for the info you gave me about the MIDI Pro Adapter. Your answers, combined with all the infos I read and all the YouTube videos about the adapter, I bought it and I bought a Yamaha PSR-E323 Digital keyboard.
It's so easy to use, you plug-and-play, that's all.
@malcolmgetscrazy You have any idea how many times I -1'd this song because of transposition switch misses? Half way through the song I just gave up and voila -- FC.

The Microsoft LifeCam HD is how you recorded yourself right? And is the Hauppauge worth the money? Great video!

Can i use a usb controller keyboard with it in the Wii version?
motormusic1 3 months ago
@motormusic1 its has to be a midi out keyboard
pksstr 2 months ago
@motormusic1 The MIDI Adapter requires MIDI, so you'd most likely have to convert that USB to MIDI. Seems a bit silly, but that's how it goes.

When you play do you keep your main focus on the charting or your hand?

@RageOfOrder Yeah, trying to play along to this was just killing me. I knew I was playing the right thing, but it sounded wretched!
I wonder if it was a studio mistake?

What is easier, a full-size keyboard with the midi pro adapter or the Rock Band 3 wireless keyboard?

@tool26
1) Mine only has five different sounds, but yes I can use any of them while playing RB3
2) Yes I can also play normal keys mode on it.
3) As long as it has MIDI-out it should work fine.
4) On mine, no. If you find a keyboard with a pitch modulation wheel, that will act as a whammy bar.
