i was confused by the chassis for a few moments then i realized that it was the french gun tractor chassis probably one of the few still left that runs.
@traxhax30 The German specification of the type was "Panzerfeldhaubitse auf Lorraine Schlepper"... it was one of the many "so-called" hybrids that never been used in tank-to-tank battles... only for bombardements on long range. (and thàt is the reason why the gunners were only half-covered.)
Greetings from Zeebrugge, Vlaanderen. (north of Belgium)
the lorraine 37L chassis was found in a french farm on 2001, it was used to tirrer trees...it was equipped with an diesel engine by the previous owner. the original engine,Delahaye 103TT, had been kept. the armor plating was done again.
It looks like a legit Lorraine tracktor conversion into a Marder I Tank Destroyer but it appears to have the Russian designed 76.2mm PaK 36(r) not the PaK 40 75mm
but it is authentic because Marder Is were mounted with both cannons The Pak 36(r) being the better one in my opinion :DD
This is the Sd.Kfz.135 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 135) "Marder 1". In the end just a Russian 7,62cm PaK 36(r) yield gun or a German 7,5-cm-PaK 40/1 L46 gun instaled on a French Hotchkiss H 35, Hotchkiss H 39 or Lorraine tractor chassis :-)
I cant decide for sure, but it doesnt look like a Pak 40 to me, the barrel looks too short. Looks more like a 105 but the barrel looks a bit thin, and its missing the recuperator (?) housing over the barrel top. The shape of the shield looks a bit off too. Still, a really nice restoration of a vehicle there certainly cant be many of now.
This ultra-rare wehrmacht machine deserves a more realistic camuflage!!! there are plenty of normandy campain books to make this model perfect and beautiful.
cfs3000, Thanx for clarifying it's a 105. I got my books out & did some web site checking & it is a 105 with a muzzel brake. The 150mm sIG/33 had no muzzle brake.
Graet video, surprised that one of these still exist. Seems to be a 150mm or 105mm gun, not a 75mm, therefore not a Marder I. Many books on the subject. Might be this: 15cm sFH-13 (sf) auf Lorraine Scheppler (f)(captured French armored personnel carrier chassis) - 94 converted in 1942, seems some were converted with 105mm guns. 21 Pz. Div. in Normandy had some of these as did many other divisions in France. A few Lorraine Schlepper SP Arty. in Africa, 12 to 24 maybe, would have to look it up.
i was suprised they still exist to. i recently found out the taliban had been using one aginst us troops then abandoned it in the street its still im amazing condition
The Lorraine Scleppers etc. were not complete junk and did OK in the milder climate of France but they had problems in North Africa and the USSR with extreme heat & cold respectively. The French engines weren't the best.
No my friend, that is definitly a Marder I. The mounted weapon is simply not the same. I don't think it's a 150 though. And with early Marders they mounted captured Soviet 76mm AT guns on as well.
That's a German 105mm self-propelled gun on a French Lorraine carrier chassis. One of the many slash-ups the Germans made from foreign tanks and other armoured vehicles. I
Awesome to see one of these running, but also one of the most ridiculous looking pieces of artillery ever!guess they had to do something with all that captured french gear...
That's not the 15cm gun that was mounted on some French tanks, it's the 7,5cm PaK40. The French tanks fitted with this gun are referred to as Marder Is, including this one.
Not realone, realones used different chassis, not used in war, 105mm would throw wholething on itsback everyround...
