@Hollywoodchef7 Thats good advice, if you check out my other video with this gun, the second half of it I start using my left hand, and that was later in the year I filmed this (09). When I first got it, I did it with the right hand because the other bolt actions I have use a bent bolt and are scoped, so its not an options, and that's the way I was used to doing it.
@Halvorson I will check out the video, Great rifle and I don't think it is gets the credit it deserves for the price and durability of this rifle. You can hit a 1000 yard target with the right set up. And this 7.62/54r is a one kill round, People argue it only has 5 rounds. But that's all you need if your somewhat accurate. Nice Video.
wanna know something even crazier? Im right handed but shoot my rifle with my left...at least the ak...the mosins bolt kinda hits me in the face when I shoot it left handed.
I just got my 1939 Mosin Nagant 91/30 Tula and a huge box of steel core rounds. I love this rifle, it's amazingly accurate, incredibly durable, and I only paid $90 for it (I would have paid more if I had known how reliable it was).
You should check out the videos posted by mag30th. He has a video of him hitting an 18in target from one thousand yards with a Mosin. It's absolutely amazing.
@iluvmyveedub me 2. mine was shooting pretty far to the right when i got it, but i got that fixed. i love this rifle. it was well worth the price i payed for it and then some!
@twiztid6430 they shoot to the right because they were sighted in WITH the bayonette in place. if you try shooting it now with the bayonette it will be off again.
@SuperKx85rider I love my mosin, they can be hit or miss though, make sure you get a good one. Its probably my favorite rifle to shoot. (I enjoy using irons over a scope (mostly because i can only shoot about 200 yards at my house without going to a range)).
@TRSBraddock, have you cleaned all the Cosmoline out? I know many people that use laquered cases and dont have that issue after they cleaned all the cosmoline out.
@Halvorson if you want cheaper rounds look up Russian surplus ammo. me and my dad get bout 440 rounds for 100 dollars. 4.4 cents a round. good stuuf. 200 grain FMJ. and they cycl fairly well
@iCoptici its not 4.4 cents a round its 23 cents, you get 4.4 bullets per dollar. That still is pretty good, but I for a rifle of this power its ammo is pretty cheap so I rather stay away from the corrosive stuff. Thanks for the info though!
@Halvorson I just picked up a fairly customized nagant today and realized shortly after how tough it can be to find x54r locally. I want to stay away from corrosive myself but haven't found many killer deals online yet. Where do you get your silver bear 203 from'?
whats up with some full metal jackets instead of the soft lead tips? You could punch right through that block. id be afraid of ricochet near all those structures with that soft tip shit.
Ah, got it. Duh. Sorry. It's my first time with a surplus rife. Though, I can't even use it to clean. I put a patch through the hole, and it won't go down the barrel.
Hey, man sorry to bother you again, but I just got my rifle and can't get the cleaning rod out. Do just yank it out, or is there a release button or something?
yeah but i dont want to grind it down to much, because i have a few symbols the Soviets punched on the bottom there that i almost scraped off already :(
my balcony is right behind me, and it connects right to the roof, no step or anything. If you look when i zoom out and im walking away from teh gun, i walk down onto the balcony, and then when im standing and shooting the camera is sitting where i was laying before. so its not much diffrent then sitting on top of a very little hill.
so shooting without the bayonet is not a factor here....

@shannonandsheila1 You should try to grabbing the BOLT with your left hand, that way you keep the butt next to your shoulder all of the time.

man that looks like fun...nice editing too.
The steel core ammo goes right through 1/4-5/16th steel..no ricochets, and puts a hell of a hole in 1/2" steel - also no ricochets

I've got a Nagant carbine.
Lemme tell you, it'll go though the concrete and any pipes that may or may not be beneath it.

what ammo do u use? i use bulgarian surplus, light ball and the heavy yellow tip, i havent shot it any place but the range tho. m38 here btw

soft tip would be less likely to ricochet because the bullet breaks up easier. i thought about using fmj, but im afriad of that ricocheting

It is threaded into a metal block.
So, just unscrew the cleaning rod.
yayashua 2 years ago
Oh, you were prone? That changes it. I thought you got up on a ladder, stood up on the roof, and shot.

yeah, the shingels scrapped up the bottom of my gun, I'm pretty upset about my stupidity of using them as a rest.
