Ähm... you need 2 discs and 1 XP MCE key...

When you must enter your XP key and you enter a XP MCE Key, it will ask you for the 2nd disc and this disc will install XP MCE...

If you have an OEM-CD, it will install automatically...

This has happened to me all 4 times I've searched for Media Center Edition 2005. My Sony VAIO ran on MCE 2005 and got busted and not even the recovery CD's get the computer up & running but if I put my mom's Emachines XP Home Edition OS it installs. I don't get what's going wrong. Now it says it's missing \system32\config or something like that. I hate computer woes. Any recommendations?

Sony vaio´s only supports factory OS. For example, I have one thet comes with windows xp.

I wanted to install Windows XP on the computer from my windows xp disc, beacause I was having problems while tried to upgrade to sp3 and It was giving me an error from the battery. So I couldn´t use the battery until I installed my factory OS.

It was fast because its the Windows Pre-installation enviroment...which is a lightweight version of XP

I loved Windows Media Center and wished they continued to support and build upon it - but of course they switched to integrating most of the features into a more mainstream OS like Windows 7 (I'd prefer a separate OS for Media Centers myself) - Media Center is still a great OS though. Make sure you look into MyMovies if you use Media Center regularly, it's an awesome addon.
