Kirk and James use their own signature ESP model guitars. They also use Gibson Explorers (James only) Gibson Flying V's, and Gibson Les Pauls. Those are there main onstage guitars. They have been known to use other types in the studio such as fenders.

joenomic, Kerry King is always contradicting himself, he also went on to say how Kirk was one of the better guitar players on the planet and the band didn't let him solo on St Anger. Kirk is light years better than Kerry and one fo the more all around players in Metal. As for metallica going down hill since MOP. Well many will argue that AJFA was their best material, despite the not so perfect production. last, Bob Rock was not a fan of metal at all.
