Hellmuth should have give Bellande the opportunity to show his cards when he said "Good call." Instead of waiting for Bellande to turn over his hand he mucks his cards. At that point rules and etiquette are no longer an issue, Hellmuth's hand is dead so what Bellande is holding is irrelevant -- he wins the pot without having to show. It's still pretty rude from both players to make such a big deal out of it though.

you are 100% wrong. phil was the bettor so he can either open his hand or throw it in the muck. bellande is allowed to wait for phils cards to touch the muck or be flipped.  However Robert needs to open his cards to get the pot.

not true. in a called hand on the river, when both players act mutually it's the small blinds obligation to show first, when there is a bet and river is called, a hand has to be shown. its a rule.

OK, i dont play live, so i dont really pay attention to it, but it is to my understanding that the first person to bet on the last street has to show his hand first. If phil didnt want to show it when he was the bettor, why would jean robert show it?

i hate bellande and love hellmuth but from what I know tournaments require the person called to show his hand, while the caller may show his hand if he is the winner, but does not have to show it. Cash games tend to lay in the grey area but where I play if the person that made the final bet is called, he MUST show his hand, if he does not it is mucked the the caller wins, no showing necessary.
