Why is this much different than using a USB or Wireless headset on games like the PS2 Socoms or Tom Clancy End War and others?

In those games you could use a cheap $20 headset to issue complex commands like "Alpha Team Breach Door" or "Bravo move to Echo" and some much more complex than that. Here I just seeing a lot of one word Call and Response things. "Examine, Shotgun, Carnage, etc". Seems like they are trying to artificially add value to the Kinect. If there is more to this, please tell.

I have a Kinect. I bought it because it is an exciteing technology. The voice command thing is perfect, I'm amazed at how well it works as I'm standing in my kitchen making myself a snack while telling my xbox to play a video (involving, navigating the dashboard). I didn't buy it specifically for ME3, but it had some say in it, since I'm a huge ME fan! The kinect is also a great party game with the sports games! It's also really cool that it isn't "that" expensive, certainly a good buy for me :)

I don't see how this enhances the experience. To me it's much more immersive if I shut the fuck up and use buttons. But I'm a PC gamer so maybe that's the problem. It's easier and faster to use controls on PC then to speak.

@Gizmo2k5 Nope, even though its a great feature it has been soley implemented to use KINECT in order to target the core user base into going out and buying it.

I understand it took them several months to get right for Kinect, but maybe someone at Bioware will eventually have the light bulb go off and say, "Hey, what if we adjusted that program to do voice recognition for PC?" And I will want to shake that person's hand.

@avintar Can't see how it would be a huge step to make it work on the PC, should "work" in much the same way. Oh well, it will be an awesome game regardless of the little tricks Kinect offers. Certainly not enough to make me go and buy Kinect for my Xbox.

You can play ME3 without playing ME2 or ME1. It will just recap at the beginning for you, just like the beginning of ME2 did for new players (or for PS3 players who obviously couldn't carry a save from ME 1 over)

I like the idea and the implementation and its something I would use but voice recognition is hardly new tech. £120 for KINECT only for it to be used as a microphone is a bit excessive. I think BIOWARE should have just used headsets and implemented it across all the platforms.
