thank you for this. i watched this last year and I think it is my favorite movie. at least top 3, because of its provocative power. it uproots the ever-lasting existential angst that everybody deals with. cornell west calls this angst "the blues". it is always present yet instead of indulging in it, we must wrestle with it to push ourselves for greater meaning in life. It is a blessing, and gives essence to human creativity. if i had to describe it, I would call this an artist's movie.
I've watched this at least ten times, and I've never noticed the clock thing before. That's what's so incredible about this film, that I see something new every time I watch it. Definitely one of my favorites, and my favorite Kaufman film (which is a hard choice to make).
I've watched this 8 or 9 times, and the sheer attention to detail is astonishing, whether it be the cancer commercial featuring a clip of the "picnic with my daughter" from the end, or the fact that when Millicent starts playing Caden, she is living with the "homosexual lover Eric". Even the present video showed me that the clocks at the start and end read the same time. I can watch it again and again and I always see something new. . . and I always spot Sammy in some previously unnoticed place!
thank you, kaufman.

Thank you all so much for the wonderful compliments. It's reassuring to know how much Synecdoche, New York has touched people. I hope it continues...

Brilliant. No more, no less. One of my favourite films, astonishingly chronicled in a mere 3 minutes. Words scarcely do it justice. Well done. :)
