While the BMW is definently better on the track, the LR3 it an amazing feat of engineering on its own. Your trying to relate them to different standards. The 6-series is BMW's grand tourer which was built for the track, poised and filled with power. The LR3 was built to handle any surface, and be the best off-roader, not compete in track days against each other. Trying to race them together fairly is impossible.

I would severely suggest that that much power would compromise the BMW's already sub-par 4x4. Too much torque on a track creates lots of wheel spin, imagine that on mud. Even with traction control and anti-slip mechanism, all that power disappears so that it can handle the terrain. I don't know why German manufacturers keep forcing mass power into their engines instead of engineering what they already have. LR has the best off-road capabilities due to extensive research and implementation.

ya but the hard part is equalizing the power and torque, also if u want to minimize the understeer on a race track, u have to distribute power to the out side wheels more like what nissan is doin with the new R35, plus, u cant drift as fun with a four wheel drive car. period. i think those three facts r enough to make u shut the fuck up by now aint it?

I would severely suggest that that much power would compromise the BMW's already sub-par 4x4. Too much torque on a track creates lots of wheel spin, imagine that on mud. Even with traction control and anti-slip mechanism, all that power disappears so that it can handle the terrain. I don't know why German manufacturers keep forcing mass power into their engines instead of engineering what they already have. LR has the best off-road capabilities due to extensive research and implementation.

I love land rovers and I dont care much for beamers but that made me giggle. what a crap add. Staged, practised and scripted. LR were probably owned by BMW at the time too judging by the BHP commentary of the BMW and photography and the disco winning? Bowler Land Rover may even thrash the M6 on tarmac? fun video tho.

Suprisingly enough- the 4wd car works better in the snow and ice.
Stil- I far rather have a Disco than a BMW- in any weather.
