  • for those confused the only reason o isnt used and wa is, because it implys that she drinks something else

  • @Aploosh ok, thanks (even saying that 4 months later ;-))

  • so "o" and "wo" isn't use if the verb of the sentence is negative?

  • well i don't go sleep so.. :D couldn't answer

  • watashi wa hachi-ji goro okimasu

    sometimes ku-ji goro okimasu

and when I sleep a lot

    ju-ji goro okimasu...

  • what exactly dose siumasen and yomimasen mean

    because is'nt dog, inu

  • you mean suimasen? That's the polite present/future negative form of suu which means to suck (as in a vacuum), but it is used for to smoke.

Yomimasen is the polite present/future negative form of yomu which means to read.

    Examples:

Tabako wo suimasu. (I smoke cigarettes.)

Zasshi wo yomimasu (I read magazines.)

    and inu is dog

    Hope I helped you out.

  • Also, if you're using Japanese characters. Suimasen without Kanji it's excuse me or I'm sorry. The verb Suu uses a Kanji.

  • I mean Sumimasen means I'm sorry or excuse me, sorry about that.

  • What to hell does Goro mean. They don't explain that.

  • Goro is a name of man, everyone knows that

  • it means around or about

  • its awesome ppl! if u learn japanese words everyday ull never know when they would appear in this series! its awesome just couple of days ago i learned food and drink related words and other things that appeared just now! things r easier to learn if u dont have to get into ur head all of this at once! =D

  • I intirely agree. I was learning from a book at first now I these audio lessons are pretty much a reveiw.

And remember o is also used infrom of words that women want to make more polite like:

    o-kane = money

    instead of just kane.:)

  • oh! thx 4 telling me that! =D

  • she doesn't read manga? GRRRR

  • So, I thought wa was to express the subject of the sentence, but here they say tabako wa and biru wa, instead of what I thought should be tabako o and biru o... ??

  • o is mostly used before actions such as nomimas, shimas etc , and tabako here was the subject, so wa was used. ;)

  • That's partly correct, it is a topic marker in this case. "Wa" is used with the negative form of a verb like this when there is a choice to be made.

  • This actually works, thank you

  • Domo arigato gozaimasu Aploosh san!!! Ive watched the 1st 9 lessons --- it's been a lifesaver and much more fun than my text and listening comprehension CDS. Kaiho san is my favorite "teacher" and the lessons pack so much info into 10 minutes. SUGOI!!!
