  • this song makes me happy. : )

  • This song always gives me the uncontrollable urge to run naked with a bunch of my friends through a field. We wake up hours later with no recollection of what happened. It's awesome.

  • @adamlilith00 LOL

  • i heard this song in my art class

  • i can't help but smile and feel better when i listen to this song! it gives me hope that today is gonna be alright:)

  • @DeDarkSajd Maybe an Icelander would think they made sense, but I don't know, because I'm not one (I haven't even lived there). The translation is my own; and it was hard to do, as they got completely rid of word order when writing it; saying things like (literally) "you eyes blow in sand cry." (Þú augu fjúka í sand tárast) but because it has some aspects in grammar that english does not, you can make some sense out of it.

  • @MaskFaceDude also apperently they like to sometimes sing in complete jibberish (using vocals as an instrument itself without the words making sense at all)

  • @WOLFNBEAST

Jonsi calls it "Hopelandic", that's his gibberish language. I think he uses it to get melodies and sometimes prefers songs to not have real lyrics for whatever reason. The album "()" or "Parentheses" was entirely hopelandic, the cover sleeve even had no lyrics and no song titles apart from track numbers, telling people that if they wanted to put lyrics to it they could and name it. Very unique artists and I love them all the more for it :)

  • Love it!

  • @DeDarkSajd I think even Icelanders would need a translation, as it barely makes any sense...

the lyrics are, according to their website, something like "you let hats be blown to the air,/ you turn umbrellas inside out too often,/ oh no, don't, oh/ you blow roofs out to choppy sea,/ you stroke hair, hit headresses,/ prankster boy/ wind in my hair/ you blow sand into eyes, (make them) cry,/ you stick fast bubblegum into hair,/ prankster boy/ wind in my hair" It's very hard to understand...

  • My high schools drumline is doing a how based off of this song MHS VHB

  • This song makes me feel naked.

  • not bad :)

  • english translation? anyody?

  • með suð í eyrum okkar sem við spilum endalaust er ótrúlega albúm ég hef það

  • Like if Rocksmith just introduce you to a great song.

  • @drain2128 i knew this song, but rocksmith pulled me deeper onto it

  • like this comment if you like this song

  • öğle arasından sonra hüzünle bilgisayar başına çökmeyin. bir doz alın, enerjiniz yenilensin.

  • Even though how many times I listen to this song, it feels like it's telling me to do something i've never done before.

  • This is one of those songs where it is socially accepted that if it is played loud, no one minds.

  • This song totally gives me the shivers. I haven't been so excited about a new piece of music (at least for me), in a long time. Rocksmith brought me here, this song is really fun to play on guitar.

  • I shall sing you the song of my people!~

  • Thanks to Christian the Lion and Aron Ralston - I've discovered Sigur Ros :D

  • doesnt this sound exactly like a part of a dave matthews band song?

  • rocksmith!

  • @TheBlitzkriegking That's how I know this song too! and its SO freaking tricky to get it down...sometimes it doesn't read my C#m properly, thus screwing me over when trying to level the phrase..

  • I have no idea what the words say. But I can't stop listening to it. My new personal fav. :)

  • you know a song is good when you dont understand a word it says and you cant stop replaying it.

  • @CCEarnhart that's how i feel about all bon iver songs after the first listen.

  • @CCEarnhart Words are overrated.

  • Christian the lion brought me here!

  • This song makes me feel like everything will be okay. I love it :'D

  • this just saved my life....

  • Its in 4/4 with a different measure thrown in during the chorus.

  • this is the best song ever!!!!

  • wow. great music!

  • My rock history professor introduced me to this band (sad, I know.) Since then...this song just keeps going through my head.

  • Goood stuff!! HEY CHECK OUT BLONDE PLUTOZ - GET THE MUSIC STARTED on YOUTUBE!! CHEERS

  • Sounds kinda African :)

  • he's addressing the wind in this song - he basically is saying like you blow off hats into the air, you flip umbrella's too often (the chorus is 'wind in my hair'). they're nonsensical, basically, and hard to translate to english :P

  • this makes me happy <3

  • What the hell time signature is this song in?

  • Comment removed

  • @Oedemaband

    the time signature is 7/8

  • i feel happiness everytime i listen to this song.. makes me feel elevated!!!!!

  • got high to this. its amazing.

  • @justinsweatt4 no one believes me when i say that it is amazing high. :/

  • please tell me how to pronounce the song name

  • @markcity777 gobble-dee-gook ...... I think.

  • @MyCatLikesYourCat thank you good guy!

  • the first 12 seconds are the greatest thing I've ever heard

  • lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala:)

  • vindur i harinu = wind in the hair. I love this feeling when I've got the wind in my hair!

  • Have you ever heard a song and had to stop for a minute? Stop because it's so... perfect, you can't quite grasp it? This is that song for me, and I am so appreciative that, though they may not speak the same language as me, Sigur Ros can still speak to me, and make me happy, no matter where I am in my life. <3

  • Oh yeah....I almost forgot the one that we're on....Iceland = Sigur Ros, The Sugarcubes. I could also name tons more from America but I think everybody gets the point. Besides, The Pixies and Guided by Voices alone are enough to hold us over!

  • Okay, where was I? Germany = Trio, The Bollock Bros. France = Freur, Plastic Bertrand. Scotland = Frightened Rabbit, We Were Promised Jetpacks. Ireland = Two Door Cinema Club, The Undertones, My Bloody Valentine. Sweden = Peter, Bjorn and John, The Radio Dept., Abba. Australia = The Church, Midnight Oil, Empire of the Sun, The Presets (I could go on and on) The point is that it's everywhere! Some American bands I didn't mention are Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Archers of Loaf, Interpol, damn!

  • @31makimba wow good list, I think I'll check out the bands you mentioned that I haven't heard of.

  • @MyCatLikesYourCat Thanks very much....Yes, you definitely should check them out. I don't know who you've heard of and who you haven't, but I could even go further and suggest songs from each band as well...My reasoning for posting that is because everyone is always going on and on about how all the best music comes from the UK. While I probably don't disagree with that statement, I had to point out that great music comes from everywhere. Thanks again.....Take it easy!

  • @31makimba Sorry to bother you again, but I was wondering what Australian band you think is best (and maybe favourite song too)? Just curious.

  • @MyCatLikesYourCat You're not a bother at all my friend. 1st of all, it depends if you want older or newer....The older stuff would definitely be The Church and Midnight Oil....Songs from The Church that I recommend are: Metropolis, Month of Sundays, and Reptile. The very best song by Midnight Oil is called The Dead Heart and another great one is King of the Mountain. The other 2 are newer bands and I'd have to say The Presets are better. Their best include: Talk Like That, My People (cont)

  • @MyCatLikesYourCat Okay, and the last song by The Presets I suggest is called If I Know You. Now then, regarding Empire of the Sun, they only have one song that I've heard by them that I like, but man is it a masterpiece. It's called Walking on a Dream. It is massive. Anything else I can help you with, just give me a shout. Take Care

  • @31makimba I'm really starting to get into The Church, and I really like most of the bands you mentioned. Thanks again!

  • @MyCatLikesYourCat Anytime! I just checked out your channel and noticed you listened to Quiet Little Voices by We Were Promised Jetpacks...Let me tell ya, that is one of those bands that are so great that it's almost hard to believe that they are real....You need to check out a lot more by them, especially It's Thunder and It's Lightning, Short Bursts, Moving Clocks Run Slow, etc...I could go on and on....BTW, I added you as a friend!! My channel has a lot more great shit!! Take it easy!!

  • @31makimba Yeah, I'm really starting to like We Were Promised Jetpacks, too (It's Thunder and It's Lightning is my favourite). I noticed you like Jonsi, too...isn't he amazing? I like how his music is similar to the typical Sigur Ros stuff but has a different, more upbeat feel to the music.....it's awesome.

  • @MyCatLikesYourCat Oh yes...I've been a fan of Sigur Ros since 2002 so when Jonsi came out with solo material I was quick to listen and I've gotta say, I'm majorly impressed. There's not a bad song on the entire album. They're in a class all their own.

  • Geez...Everywhere I look anymore people are arguing over what country the best music comes from...I've been listening to great music for 25 years and not once did that ever cross my mind until now...I always knew where the bands were from, but it didn't make any fucking difference...England = The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Joy Division, The Smiths, The Cure, Depechemode (okay, I could go on forever with that one) America = The Pixies, Guided by Voices and much more. I have too much more...Look up

  • this is very nice. check out Tim Knol if you want.

    from holland.

  • Beautiful!! been searching this song for a few years and I cant believe I found it :) Hello from Puerto Rico

  • Teemong <3

  • @theaznllama im asian so when i read 'gook' it caught my attention and i was like WTF is this?

but i guess its just the name of a song lol gobbledigook. not gobble the gooks. common misunderstanding

  • @HangLooseMig Can you read?

  • 16 people have erectile dysfunction.

  • @enickgoku That is a very inventive thing to say, it made me ROFL. But what if some were women, not that I am stupid enough to be one of them.

  • oh my bad. i only went on this because i thought it was a video about eating Vietnamese people...

  • enchanting composition of sound and rhythm, like a wave of childish feeling that starts a whole rush through your body, renegade feelings coming through........what a song....

  • Lalalalalala

  • holy moley I love this song with all my heart. It's the second most played song on my iTunes at about 365 plays. I can't get enough!! I listen to it everyday. It's kinda sad. The album cover, however, is one of my favorites as well. STREAKING! hahaha. I love Sigur Ros.

  • lalalalalalalalalala into the opium

  • 'Iceland: Beyond Sigur Ros' (2011). New free music documentary out! :)

  • i cant say for sure but i think hes singing about wind, at least from what i can understand

  • @777sanity Vindur e harinu - wind in the hair

  • Ey por que este tiene 10 veces mas vistas que el video que es hermoso???

Hey that this is 10 times more video views than it is beautiful??

  • Was awesome hearing this in Un Prophete... Great song, great movie.

  • "Dad you are a Genius!" as my three year old tells me all the time!

  • this song makes me smiling like an idiot..Can't stop..But that makes Sigur Ros' music so unique..It can make you smiling, but also makes you weep..Its so undescribable beautiful that it nearly hurts....Sigur Ros is THE band of the century!

btw..please don't see this as a spam, but this might interest some of you..

I found a band on youube called "Nyctalgia"

If you've got time, listen to their song "Lost in timeless horizons"

Breathtaking, powerful masterpiece by this extremely young guy...

  • @GrowTillTall you posted this on so many videos but yet i agree about what you said about sigur

  • @GrowTillTall I freakin' love this song so much. When ever I have a really bad day or I need calm down about something I listen to this song because it is so amazing I am always happy when ever I listen to it. It is impossible to be sad, angry or negative while listening to it.

  • @GrowTillTall I can't stop smiling when he says Óhræsisstrákur :D it is just so pure

  • This song makes me very happy :) But also a bit nostalgic, because this album was released during one of the happiest times of my life.

  • They are AMAZING!

  • how do you guys like the video of this song btw?:p

  • Every time I hear this song, I feel like I'm in the movie "Where the Wild Things Are". This song is something you'd hear while on an adventure.

  • what the fuck is this shit?

  • @afz902k Creativity. The ability to produce what you feel. What do you feel?

  • @7pcamat I feel... The mild whistle of birds preparing to endure a moonlit night, fading away at dusk. The calm breeze of a throbbing ocean, the smell of fresh rain in a desert oasis, the... I FEEL GREAT THANK YOU I NEVER THOUGHT--*cries of happiness*

  • @afz902k Its Icelandic nonsense

  • When I play this song, I picture a guy chasing some girl he loves, like a race against time. Beautiful song.

  • Fucking artsy and awesome!

  • bought this on vinyl today :)

  • I think its the chorus but I really love the chorus.

I often find myself trying to sing it XD

  • What is it that makes there music so beautiful? Probably the fact that there Icelandic.

  • I understand "Into the open earth" in the chorus... And i always sing it :D

  • @Quaellchen91 It's actually "Vindur i harinu" which means, wind in the hair. Sorry haha

  • their best song :]

  • this song always makes me tear up. it just makes me so happy :)

  • I have no clue what he's saying, but this is beautiful.

  • Awesome song. :]

  • he sounds kind of like ben gibbard from postal service and deathcab for cutie

  • So weird. I like it. haha

  • (you are being blown(as in with the wind) long ?? to the air. you, umbrella, turning upside-down. too many times. oh no, i see ?.) (you ? are being blown (a.i.w.t.w) out to the "harsh"sea. you your hair stroking land was hit. premiscous? boy/bad boy/filty boy..) Þú (Lalalala lalalala : Lalalala lalalala) (you eyes ? until he breaks into tears. you chewing gum stuck on hand. premiscous boy/bad boy/filthy boy..) Lyrics for ENGLISH Song written in Hopelandish
  • What's the language of this song? I LOVE IT

  • @mmartunia1 its called "Hopelandic" a made up language.

  • @mmartunia1 Icelandic

  • I want to put this song on loop and plug my laptop up to my seven point surround sound system and just listen to it forever.... This is the EPITOME of beautiful music in all EPIC gaseousness, it is both simplicity and complexity all in one. The tranquility it brings is truly amazing....

  • never have been moved by an upbeat song as this that much

  • everytime i hear this i just wanna sprint down a plain and never stop

  • I don't understand what Jonsi and the crew are singing in Icelandic/Hopelandic here, but I know that this song never fails to make me smile...it exemplifies childhood and innocence like no other song in the world. Sigur Ros forever.

  • I've just discvered Sigur Ros... I love that music... it's the best indie group i know... they're amazing

  • this is the perfect running through a forest song! thats even wut the music video is about! (exept with naked people) XD

  • This song is in Icelandic. Check out Lyricwiki for the translations to almost all of their songs......those that are sung in Icelandic. Obviously they can't translate hopelandic since it's not a language.

  • Not to mention you find someone that can use a bow so freely passionatly and beaultiful as jonsi. Anyone who says jimmy page, needs to understand the difference between whitenoise and beauty.

  • Who needs bow when you have talent

  • Also i cant stress enough the music ability behind sigur ros, beinga perfection an over ayalst and musician, i can no longer listen to songs without analysing every detail, and sigur ros make me speechless no words but, "wooahh ooo"

and also how amazing it is when you hear jonsi sing so high you cant imagine it any higher, till bang he hits an octave higher.

  • lol alot of people are so slow, Icelandic is sigur ros' main language and also for singing, hopelandic is only used as "hahaurwrong" said in some songs and more in (). a little bit of trivia too, icelandic is one the hardest languge to learn on this earth.

  • I love this song and the music video is hot lol

  • nice :D

  • this song IS sung in icelandic its mostly in ( ) where they used hopelandic

  • If you can find me any sort of translation in english, I will give you my unrequitted adoration for several minutes

  • its their own language betabite. get it right!

  • Strange fruit hanging from that tree.

    oh, OH.

    <3

  • i'd rather listen to anything in a different language now than the stuff we have in the US. it doesn't seem original to me. but i absolutley love this. i can't stop listening to it even though i don't understand it

  • same here!

  • @juicylolipop93 there are English lyrics to this song out there. Even when translated they're still silly. :) But I'm with you about U.S. music in the charts - it's just mostly plain pop and R&B, no diversity. Acts like Sigur Ros are a good 50 years away from being accepted by the American public.

  • @laissezfayre and the mainstream audiences of any other country.

All this shitty RnB and rap polluting the music industry. That ain't music, that's just shit piled upon more shit and then fed to the idiotic masses. THIS is music.

Music is an art, not a can full of shit.

  • @PlasticOblivion Are you one of the few people I have seen anywhere who know how to use their brain? You are right on there.

In other news, this is an utterly awesome song and I shall now have to listen to Sigur Ros until my brain leaks from my ears.

  • @laissezfayre I must be a rarity then, but then again I don't listen to the music that "charts." I will agree with you that the mainstream music in the U.S. totally blows, but there is a shitload of great Indie music here. Speaking of Sigur Ros though, I've been a fan since '02....and when I say fan, I mean a fucking fan, let me tell ya!

  • @laissezfayre... i live in the U.S., and you would be deeply surprised on how many of us actually listen to this music, and truely appreciate it... not just the U.S. has been taken over by so called "artists" that think they can "sing", but its a world wide epedimic indeed ^_*...

  • Yeah! =] Like hottypiollina said, A lot of the U.S. is actually inhabited by the underground of rebels, poets, (TRUE) musicians, and individualists. I wouldn't be surprised if Sigur Ros were able to take a large tour in the U.S. to have every show sell-out.

  • @kcjeraslaitiniym ... Hoppipolla , its actually supposed to be written with space = Hopp í polla it means Jumping into puddles :)

  • @lMIKAg97 Uhh... hahah... Hottypiollina is a screen name on here =] I was referencing her comment.

  • @kcjeraslaitiniym Referring to*

  • @laissezfayre but when acts like this are excepted, life will be full of beautiful music. :)

  • @juicylolipop93 well, this is a great song and a great band, but dont trash all music coming from america. there are more great post-rock and indie bands coming from the US these days, you just have to spend time looking in the right places and greatness pops up.

  • @juicylolipop93 If you think there is no good modern American music, you aren't trying hard enough.

  • @sybo59

theres not much good american music

    theres some though.

  • @ali01202 Where is it better?

  • @juicylolipop93 That's the shit you hear on MTV and the radio, the mainstream music is fucking terrible.

  • Sigur Ros = love

  • Great and beautiful song!

It always gives me a smart smile upon my face with every listen..It makes me totally happy about everything in life..! Sigur Ros are so beautiful, some breathtaking and magical moments they gave me..!

I found a Band called "Nyctgalgia" some minutes ago while surfing on youtube..You should listen to their song "Falling into nothingness".. AMazing..!

I thought this may interest some of you...

  • Thanks for the heads up on the song. It was great!

But, just for the fun of it, how can a smile be smart?

  • thanks its a relly good recomindation

  • i dont understand a word of the song... even if it is in hopelandic or icelandic, i dont care

but i feel like i get the message

    awesome song!

  • Would it be acceptable to just write down what I think I hear and call that the lyrics?

  • In my opinion no...

  • that's why they intended i think. at least on () because the whole album is in a made up language called Hopelandic.

  • @DemonicGman No its Icelandic

  • no its not, they made up their own language. look it up. Only for that album. "all of the vocals ( ) are however in hopelandic. hopelandic (vonlenska in icelandic) is the 'invented language' in which jónsi sings before lyrics are written to the vocals."

    ......read that.

  • well, it's their own rendition of Icelandic. They call it "Hopelandic". Some of the words are Icelandic, but the rest are made up.

  • @betabite89 its hopelandic

  • some of it is icelandic, but its mostly a made up language called hopelandinc

  • Some are, this one is in Hopelandic. They pretty much sing gibberish and stuff...they do it to prove that it doesnt take lyrics and words to make a song beautiful...really good point...

  • @JahazielakaCurly this song is mainly in icelandic some of it is Hopelandic but i could understand most of it though.

  • So amazing and original. Great way of expressing themselves. :)

  • awesome song. glad they removed the music video lmao

  • they (the band) calls it hopelandic its they're own launguge, it really shows that not knowing wat they are saying doesnt make the music any less beautiful...they accually only started singing in icelandic in they're late albums
