This was not recorded before Crossroads. This is very hard to play on guitar and it's beautiful my favorite by Paganini is his 17th but that's preference,Steve Vai is a master and why jealous people with no class knock him is beyond me.Remember a year prior to Cacophony's first release Vai released Passion and warfare light years ahead of it's time and Satch released the year prior surfing with the alien and Vinnie Moore released Time odyssey,Malmsteen Trilogy, Becker has influences too.
@milpoolXXX I just watched a few Impelliteri videos and in all the comments sections people keep bringing up Yngwie's name! He also had former Alcatraz singer Gramm Bonnet in his band for a while! Well I guess that could be just a coincidence!
@milpoolXXX Chris may not be a Yngwie copycat but there are certainly similar traits in their styles and their instrument choice! His tone and vibrato is also remind's of Yngwie at times.
Being fast doesn't mean everything! Check out Chris Impellitrei who is incredibly fast but a bit of a Yngwie copycat in my opinion (still an entertaining player though)! Somone asked if Jason had big hands Im' not sure but but he wasn't a really big guy but he sure did have insane chops!
AH!!!! 666 a favor, debe ser algo satánico después de ya que es un tema de un violinista que vendió su alma al diablo... o tal ves sea una coincidencia.
@ZackAPack I know brother. I met Steve Vai on 11/8/2003. I'm Steve's biggest fan. Steve wrote the first guitar version I know. Just giving this guy that can't even play his guitar anymore a compliment.
Real shame what happened to him, you get murders etc that have good healthy lives and someone like this who get A.L.S and at such a early age in his early 20's, I can't imagine how good he would have been now.
I only wish I could play half as good as he could back then, still listen to his songs and Marty's nearly 21 years later
Actually, he is probably using a Super Overdrive pedal because I just read on Wikipedia that he used one around this time. With a borrowed 70's Marshall Stack. Overdrive gain turned up all the way doesn't sound great sometimes. I have the same pedal, but it's the $60 Boss pedal.
I don't suppose the distortion really hides the mistakes, but it makes them less noticable sometimes. With that said, I don't think he made a mistake the whole time. It might not b note 4 note..... or it might b. Cleaner tone or an overdrive tone definately makes it sound better to most people.
@ACExAmps you serious dude? hes in high school here. People that say "oh he uses a hairtie, or try it without the gain." you are the ones that can't play it and use that as the excuse of why you cant.
Malmsteen once said that playing the 24th Caprice on guitar is not possible - Becker played only 5 th Caprice - but he could not play it cleanly, Becker was incredibly fast, but it also sounded not purely - for that matter Malmsteen was at the time when both able to play much much better - the speed is not everything.
Wow im a violinist and thats supposed to be really really hard on the violin, the fact that he can play that on the guitar without tapping is just spectacular!!
@KellerDude4 dude, i know, i just found out about him like a few months ago and it is so incredibly heart breaking...I mean ALS put on anybody would be just as terrible, but to be 19 looking forward to a life long career at something you love and have a talent for such as he did, to be told you have ALS. Oh dear lord, I'm getting sad just thinking about it. God Bless You Jason Becker!
@izzyalistair except as I wrote this I realized that we are refering to Jason Becker, and he is not dead but still cannot play guitar due to his condition...forgive my mistake.
@danukenator123 There are so many guitarists that are waaaay faster than lane... not the accuracy on the other hand... That's a different story. Lane was a god. But even though becker was good, he was no where near shawn lane caliber of playing. Just my opinion.
@BelethRising Who do you feel is faster? (Watch the Not Again video, the ending is just straight noodling after the drum solo) I could see Orlando for tapping, maybe Cooley for economy picking.
@BelethRising "No where near?" Be real! Shawn Lane is one of the best guitarists of all time, but to say, "no where near," is just being foolish.
No, it's not just your opinion! You're either tone deaf or a fucking fanboy. Their styles are different, by the way.
I prefer Jason Becker over Shawn Lane. I'm not going to say, "Shawn Lane is no where near the caliber of Becker's playing!" Otherwise you might call me a fucking reject or retard because IT WOULD BE FUCKING TRUE!

@moondog50002000 I did the samething in the 80's. I told a friend of mine my left hand started to get a little 'tingly' (sound familiar?). So during practice I would play 30 min. then rest 10 min. I think staggering my practice like that saved me from surgery.
