These shows were a disaster because I drove from Boston to New York to have the show canceled because the promoter oversold all the shows. We drove back the next week and it was good time. Music was at it's highest point at this time. In one years time I saw the Clash, The Jam, Bruce Springsteen, David Johansen, The Police, and a great local seen in Boston.
These live shows from NYC were some of the Clashes best. The first time I heard them was on the radio in the 80s. It was The King Biscuit Flour Hour. They played one of these Live shows- it was awesome
Well, I have an idea for why Mick misses notes here and there and seems to have his hand wander onto the wrong frets on occasion. This was the punk rock approach. Mick was always approximative in his playing. Live performance was more about the total intensity than it was about musicianship and finesse. I doubt anyone in attendance minded much about a few bum notes, as long as Mick and Joe were in top form as front men.
@11caulfield probably wouldn't have been quite the same without Topper anyway though, I think the most impressive thing on a lot of their best tracks was the drumming. That BAD album which Strummer produced - No10 Upping St - was woeful as I remember.
time has shown that the group the clash were better than ramones sex pistols also police the clash had more variety of sounds in his music

Its easy to tell Mick's guitar from Joe's - Mick's guitar has that shitty reverb that I HATE, Joe's has that twangy sound

@Krzysztovlato LOL! Wonder why he got sacked...

@ogdroadsong He got sacked and the Clash were done for good. Mick Jones was the soul of the band.
