@IVIaksym that black member could be a "really dumb" person, as you've put it. But seriously, I think CR are confronting issues of white supremacy with this song. they are also making a statement about how they want to be viewed as white people in society. As a black man, I've had a few experiences where my often-well-meaning white friends say and/or do something that i see is informed by fear and/or ignorance.
@HeaddressScreen I was being sacrastic. And the dumb part was refering to people, who think this song is racist. It obviously is not, some people are just too shallow to interpretate the lyrics properly.
@IVIaksym i'm referring to the impetus of your sarcasm."they had a black member .." It DOES happen. ex: george bush's relationship to black mega-church pastor, t.d. jakes. having black associates is often a political tactic to deflect criticism when white supremacy is involved. When people are SURE they aren't "racist," they're free to do whatever.in this case, do the ends justify the means. and if you say they don't have to, why? The Master's Tools Will Never Dismantle theMaster'sHouse-a.lorde
cocorosie is the shit. they are expressing what they believe, if you dont agree with it why the fuck are you listening to this? not everyone has to believe in this "god" that you are praising.
When the stones play "Sympathy for the devil", it doesn't mean Mick Jagger IS Satan or the stones are satanist.
When the beatles played "I am the Walrus", it's not so hard to understand than John Lennon was not a big seal with long teeth, living in the north pole.
It's just a song y' know ?
Cocorosie are not racist and Bianca doesn't even have a wife.
(I can't believe how stupid some people can be sometimes.)
my bad, i never even heard of the songs you mentioned but i know its only a song i was simply surprised. where i grow up people are looked down across or beaten/killed because of the use of that word so excuse me i dont really have any idea why this hast to do with Bianca not having a wife.
ya dumb ass if you actual listened to instead of making assumptions you would get it its talking about being trapped behind rules and how many christians make up hatred and put it on the bible..
I was looking them up because I liked their song Werewolf. I was just curious why they used the word 'nigger' in this song. I'm not jumping to assumptions saying that they're racist. I was just curious what message they were trying to send.
they are above race and religion, yet the two subjects get in their way. that is what this song is making fun of. those two subjects which consume most people's minds, more than actual thinking.
It's a children's song (like that you sing in Sunday school) that they're altered the lyrics for... to try and show how selective and hyprocritical Christians can be in saying who's 'worthy' of Jesus (or anyone's) love.
Well, 50 years ago, there were certainly plenty of "Christians" who were racist. (And of course, it was largely through the efforst of other Christians -- MLK Jr. etc.) that that ended. There's probably still a few closet "Christian" racists unfortunately, even if most aren't. To be honest, I think the song's a bit of 'straw man' argument, but anyways... they're exagerrating a bit for poetic effect, maybe.
General point that they're trying to get across remains: a satire of bigoted Christians who proclaim 'Jesus loves you' but turn around and condemn everyone who isn't exactly like them. (Something even a Christian like myself can applaud; those people dishonour the name of Christ.)
Yes, they had a black member in their band and they sang a racist song in front of him! Some people are really dumb.

@KitsuneDango
I think the reason Nafoute mentioned that Bianca doesn't have a wife was to stress that the lyrics don't have anything to do with her personally.
The lines that you quoted are a comment on how Christianity has been (and continues to be) used as a justification for racism & misogyny.

And to add on to that, the "n word" is not a racist word. It simply means stupid and ignorant.

Read your bible good and well
Don't forget about that apple spell
Don't fall in the wishing well
Wishing for heaven and gettin' hell
Wash behind your ears don't smell
Cover them freckles don't ask don't tell
Kiss your papa but not too long
Hold his hand
Don't do no wrong
