Yeah, sure. First of all you spelled Italian wrong. And second Demons 1 and 2 is only a fraction of Italian cinema. The Good,The Bad and The Ugly is Italian also. La vita è bella,1900.Profondo Rosso,Once Upon a Time in America.Once upon a time in the west,to name but a few.
have to say Slow zombies are still the best and scare the shit outa me, yeah the running 1's would be worse to deal with, but the slow 1's in numbers r just epic
Lady Gaga would probably get off on swallowing and puking up pig intestines, pig spleens, pig eyes, and clown brains. XD She/it already has the power to make peoples' eyes bleed. Wouldn't be too farfetched to conjecture that she/it probably also has the power to make people vomit their guts out.
This movie was absolute trash, I was expecting a city full of zombies, but instead I got like four or five zombies through most of the damn movie until the last five minutes of the movie, and then they all got killed. But on a good note I'll give the movie an A in the gore department, it actually made me cringe at some parts.
This has got to be the absolute worst piece of gore crap I've ever seen. Movies made with no other purpose but to gross people out; with cheesy scream close ups to boot! This is a pathetic... :P
@LokitheCajun I disagree. Fulci used many other elements, like foggy/windy atmosphere and haunting voices in the background. I'm not into straight gore either, but again this movie has more in it than just gore. It's damn creepy!
@cheapcape people have to understand they're watching a recorded nightmare. It's not a straight story, it's a plunge into a nightmare world in a city that exists only in dreams(Dunwich, not on any map, remember?).
This is a cool zombie flick, the zombies don't eat peoples brain they just crush their skulls with one hand till the brains ooze out, it's disgusting but that's what you get with fulci
When I was 10 I begged my parents to let me rent this, and they did! What were they thinking? Lol! Thus began my glorious relationship with blood and guts :)
@EvilOstrich I watched 'Return of the Alien's Deadly Spawn' (now called 'The Deadly Spawn') when I was 10(ish). I think Fulci collaborated on the practical effects for that movie, credited as "Louis Fulci" (but I'm not positively sure, might be two different people).
@nahnahdgaf Dude...are you fucking serious? If so...are you fucking retarded?!!! This movie was shot and edited pre-1980...If anybody copied, it was the producers of the Lady Gaga videos! ("I CANT STAND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!") I can't stand you're ignorance, do some research, or at least think before you comment! and @CCZilla, you are correct, but you can find some versions here in the U.S. with the "City of the Living Dead" title.
I remember renting this as "Gates of Hell"-had to see it after it was featured in Fangoria, which sat next to Tv Guide and People magazine at my grocery store.
This one has it all-teleporting zombies. gateways to Hell, head drilling, blizzards of maggots, and a suicidal priest.
I saw "The Beyond" about 1yr ago and still like this one best. I believe more than one metalcore songwriter drew inspiration from COTLD!!
It takes a lot for horror movies to creep me out, but this is one of the few that did. A dead and decaying sister peeking at you through the window, yikes!
@cheapcape oh my god!!...i remember seeing that when i was young and thinking if that was me...god..i'd freak the hell out...that was a creepy part...the gut puking scene made me vomit...literally...
@nicolemonrue Yeah, I first previewed this movie as a trailer on a VHS rental and saw the bleeding eyes and gut vomiting parts. Just from that alone, I was creeped out for many nights and I refused to watch TGOH until I reached my twenties. But even seeing it as adult, those scenes still make me cringe!
@cheapcape yeah i know what you mean,i bought it on DVD in 98 and seriously couldn't watch it until i was with some friends, this movie has an unsettling dark sensibility this rattles your bones, for years i wondered how they did that special effect with the bleeding eyes...even that drill scene! I just bought the re-released version with the documentary on how they did everything..Lucio was way ahead of his time..real sheep innards though??!! that's much too far to get a scene filmed!!
@cheapcape Anyone notice that the scene with the pickaxe at the beginning of the trailer was also done in House By The Cemetery? Only in that one, the scene was done with an axe as the father tried to rescue his son that was on the other side of the door. Both Fulci films too.
i liked demon 1 and 2. but they werent your typical horror.

This movie wasn't your typical zombie movie. For one thing these zombies could teleport.
Second this was all about the atmosphere. The gore was a bonus.

No,it wasn't. Yes,the gore was excessive. But hello, that is the whole purpose of gore.
As for the calling this crap. You have to see it next to The Beyond and things make much more sense.
