For something to be good why do you have to be a professional to see that? Shouldn't it be priority not to look silly and ridiculous to everyone else in the audience? Really it's just pretentious
@DaliDahmerly There is no need to be a professional but to understand an art form you have to know the basics of the language that art uses. Modern art is often (ok usually) too pretentious but is not the case here. And the audience didn't think this ballet is silly and ridiculous.
I saw this live at Saddlers Wells. It was perhaps the greatest night I've ever had in a theatre. I found it emotionally devastating. A YouTube video cannot do the moment justice. The moment at 5:37 where she stands bolt upright and faces her tormentors is sublime. Comparisons with other choreographies are rather pointless. None are the last word.
the best performance that i ever seen before, is the one of the japanese girl, is a really good adaptation to the Stravinsky estetic desires... great!!!
The best costume is no costume To fully express the human body is a previlige for us to see I myself, always perform nude , this allows the body to fully express itself
@flashbiddy I disagree that it is the "best" costume but I think wearing nothing can be essential to some work. Kylian's Bela Figura is a disaster if the women's breasts are covered and I've seen video of it done that way. Ah, what do I know. I'm extremely partial to Nijinsky on Le Sacre du Printemps. It was so ahead of it's time, so groundbreaking that nothing will ever touch it. All other choreographies seems like a sacrilege to me. I hope you upload some of your work.
@fgvanderleeuw Yeah I didn't like Bejart's work on Le Sacre but what he did with "The Nutcracker is absolute GENIUS! That is the most boring ballet in the world and he did the most interesting, bizarre, fantastic thing with it! I have a clip or two on my channel. If you haven't seen it, you should. Maurice Bejart passed away only recently. Thank you for comments.
@dwartstudios i am surprised that this piece has been left intact by youtube. i don't like preljojac's interpretation of stravinsky at all. i posted this simply because it is considered to be great. i consider it to be crap. nijinsky's original choreography can not be topped though pina bausch's was good, no? thank you for the comment!

This is honestly painful to watch because of how painful the movements look...it's a wonder she didn't get whiplash.
