  • 1:29 justin bieber?

  • bitch on your knees- youre in the right position, but just shut the fuck up and let the legend complete his own sentences

  • The Saints had their records out before the Pistols did in 76 but when they went to England and they had long hair, the trendy's didn't want to know about em. In a later interview, Chris Bailey stated that he had spent his entire youth having short hair, so in Australia, for him it was a rebellion to wear his hair long! Of course short hair was the thing in England so ...

  • @Rikitocker

    Love the saints!

  • @Rikitocker Not true ,when you see pre Saints Baily photographs,he always looked like a scruffy hippie.Sure,in the 60's it was a rebellion to have long hair.He just forgot to cut it around '77,Although..The Saints never professed to be a "punk' band.It was an Australian rock band that looked a bit out of date in Europe.

  • @PAULLONDEN - You wouldn't have a clue - the comments I made are quoted directly from Chris Bailey HIMSELF! He didn't forget to cut his hair ... he wore it that way because he grew up with short hair - long hair was the rebellion for him at that time.

  • Australian band The Saints came up against the exact same thing Henry is talking about with image. John Lydon was appalled by the way the Punk scene became this fixed fashion where you had uniforms.

  • @Rikitocker

Johnny is a fashion plate then and today go figure

  • @Monoettes The point Lydon was making was that there should be NO fixed uniform ... he was about anything goes and he always said that Punk when it was first fresh was about diversity. it very quickly became a fixed idea once the media got its hooks in. John has always enjoyed playing with image ... hence Public Image "Belongs to me, my own creation, my grand finale, my goodbye"

  • @Rikitocker

That is very interesting. I saw Johnny Rottens butth**** when he came by much later with PIL with an MTV tour. guess sold out by then. Nonetheless he was wearing some white shorts with a fake fur V and threw condoms out from his V while singing here's my disease you want my disease, then dropped his pants and took a white towel and ran it inbetween his legs and daggled it out over the audience as they fought for the towel. Now thats entertainment. lol

  • damaged

  • more like henry interviewing him

  • all these other awful bands =D

    HC rules

    Henry rules

  • The exploited piss all over black flag

  • @markmason36 Don't think so as they never met. Also the Exploited were nice boys and wouldn't do such a thing even if they had met.

  • At first I thought he said the damned was horrible, until i realized what he did say :P

  • cool hair flick rollins.........

  • I would drink this man's bathwater. hahhaa awww been so long since I listened to the Flag. I kinda miss being a kid...once in a while.......sad now that Im an older hippie-dippy workin class regular chick. But I had good times with this stuff for real. Thanks for posting

  • "we have a van."

  • @CountTheOdds Yes! Read that chapter and that whole book (ten years old as it is.) iIt s simply amazing :)

  • Awesome Video Thanks!

  • @beminor365 He probably wasn't high, since he is straight edge...

  • 1:28 Christ, Henry, did you just do a fucking hairflip?

  • @jingledjango um, hey buddy, who do you think started that trend? Ill give you a clue, his name rhymes with Penny Rolkins.

  • Lol, I loved the story about Wattie being a dick... I love the Exploited, but Wattie can be a real asshole.

  • 1976, fuuuuuck.

  • Thats true, England are stupid. They ARE the bigest National Front in Europe. They say France have the bigest national front in Europe, its like, I didnt know France owned the English territory...

People thing the National front is about being a racist, but thats not true. All you have to do to be the National Front is to care more about what you'r eused to than about what matters. Thats all it takes. You nail that one, you're the national front.

  • Rollins reminds me of DEAGOL from LOTR Part III, Return of the King.

  • how long has it been since you've heard "tape machine" , lol

  • @CountTheOdds

This video was made in 1983

  • I like the lead singer of the exploited a little less now. Beat the bastards was still a good album though.

  • Thought Henry liked The Damned? He hated everyone from england beside The Damned and UK Subs?

  • @orangejuicesunshine2 you talkin about punk bands only? i thought he liked the sex pistols.

  • @qu7aker Yeah, he didnt hate everyone from England, like he loved Sabbath, just as far as english punk bands go, on "Get in the Van" he only really talks positivley about UK Subs and The Damned. Like he hates Anti Nowhere League and Chelsea etc. I never heard him talk about the Sex Pistols. Im sort of talking exclusivley about young Henry.

  • @orangejuicesunshine2 Yea totally. I thought the damned were pretty good lol.

  • Wow, as someone who saw this amazing performer many times in 84, also at the spoken word things, this is just great...Thanks

  • man, rollins almost seems shy, now in just about any interview he's real big about things, well, not sure how to explain, but you get my point.

  • @ohio1968javelin

    I think she's nervous

  • @Monoettes i think you right!Thanx for posting this Long Live Rock!

  • EUMPH he's sexy.

  • A young and hesitant Rollins, with flashes of early 80s arrogance thrown in for good meassure, plus the touch of sinnerman source that makes Milltown such a monstir. Bravo.

  • 2:05 is he talking about State of Alert?

  • @dvdvcr1 Yeah, all of their songs were "traditional" I guess, at least compared to Black Flag. I remember hearing him saying it angered him that any song longer than a minute and a half had fans yelling shit like "What is this?! FREEBIRD!?" I understand his frustration... but I like SOA better haha

  • He can think while listening to music!!! Praise him NOW!!!

Rollins is awesome, but that sounded absolutely retarded. Lulz!

  • Ha ha! I love how Henry gives the Hipster "hair swoosh" at 1:28!! XD

  • @wtw88 Maybe she's nervous?

  • @Monoettes Could be.

  • @wtw88

sometimes its whats being said not how its said.

  • The British music scene (not just punk) is still like that :(

  • he is so god damn hot.

  • @cheatking1001

    Not you

  • No, we love him!

  • I do think Henry should go down as 1 of the great philosophizers of our generation

  • @horacrux Philosophers*

  • @horacrux

Lol, I'm gonna guess you took a tremendous amount of acid in your life

  • watte try to shoot henry lol what a prick

  • lol hes seems fucked up in this interview

  • henry rollins, is kelso

  • he still is and sure was beautiful

  • "I thought guns were illegal over there", yeah B.B. guns are illegal in England.......

  • Watching old interviews of Rollins reminds of what Eddie Vedder was like during the years of 93-95. Its really interesting to watch current interviews of both guys, they've calmed down so much over the years.

  • His demeanor is different from today, He feels like he is more on Ritalin now than he is during his spoken word shows.

  • god, he' was quite hot.

  • This woman is a terrible interviewer. She never shuts the hell up.

  • @EmotionDetector007

She's not a professional interviewer and she is very nervous. My God, she's sitting next to a very hot Famous guy. This isn't MTV. This is real. Just listen to the question and answers. You are another product of the TV generation watching professional con men and their educated persuasive speech!

  • Yea, now........back then they were not "famous".

  • @Zoolander0311

Yes he was, how old are you?

  • @Monoettes , 33

  • @Zoolander0311

I was 25 y/o when we made this video, you were 4y/o, who do you think knows what was going on at the time?

  • @Monoettes ,You made this video. As in you are in it or you were behind the camera? Yes, you were 25 years old IN that scene or culture. Henry was NOT known world wide and neither was Black Flag. There are MORE popular today BECAUSE of Henry Rollins. Most people know Henry first as the lead singer for Black Flag, more for Rollins Band, even more for his writings. Same things for the Ramones, good music that NEVER went commercial until decades later when people my age found it and appreciated it.

  • @Zoolander0311

We were always alternative and we search out the alternative, the main stream is mostly crap and part of the 80's music machine. If they feed you oatmeal you eat oatmeal. The music is still good and a testament due to its truth.

back then it was an expression of frustration of the hippie/ disco era. Nothing was going on, and then an explosion. It was a great time. Search out the alternative now. Look forward.

  • @Monoettes ,you keep saying "we". Who are "we". Most people agree that although the content was there the music was crap. Very few punk bands had something that could be valued in whole content. If you're saying the rebellion made the music great, well.......I direct you to a video where Henry decimates a young kid for being naive. Most people want something to cling to and say "YOU NEVER HEARD OF............." It's more of an elitist view to say "we" are cool because WE are in the underground.

  • @Monoettes It doesn't have anything about being cool, it has to do with being real

  • this video was in 83

  • @SlavetoNeffy When did he ever go to a prep school?

  • @dildonius Um, he attended the Bullis School as a kid. Did you know that Rollins is not his given last name, too?

  • This was before "Get in the Van"

  • Get IN THE VAN!

  • wattie buchan tried to shoot rollins with a bb gun? i dont remember that in get in the van but its been a couple years since i read that, but still thats a weirdass story lol

  • dissing the kid was more interesting... this is dull

  • Comment removed

  • 1983

  • gg allin would kick his ass

  • @aaronamccoy lol gg would kick anybody's ass, because no one would want to have any physical contact with him whatsoever.

  • Of course, he disses the poor kid who lives in Michigan and obviously doesn't know any better, and yet the two chicks he's very polite to. Honestly, what the fuck?

  • @slayerrules114

I'm as surprised as you. I thought he was going to blow, but I think he was crushing on Maija. Maybe he felt bad after the blow up at that kid. who knows.

  • @Monoettes This must've been earlier; "I've only been in the band two years". Also: hair length.

  • @slayerrules114 I imagine that it's because they are prepared with questions and are listening to his answers.

  • @slayerrules114 that kid was wasting his time i guess he didnt have questions to ask . these ladies are prepared for the interview. henry is still a dick though haha

  • @slayerrules114 He could have been having a shit night and ya have to admit the kid came up to him very ill prepaired. Now, there are a few times during this when he could have embarrassed those girls so maybe he was just a two faced swinging dick bastard. lol.

  • @slayerrules114 Because the dumbass asked him if the band had sold out and came in completly unprepaired. At least these two women are respecting him.

  • @nimitz1983 he was a dick in the beginning.

  • Late *83

  • i do the headphone thing to. i can do it in school

  • am i wrong or is he sad and doesnt appreciate himself

  • he was hot then

  • @TeddyCurrency when was the last time you interviewed henry rollins?

  • He looks a bit nervous in those times.

Not as calm and aggressive as he was later.

  • i didn't know glenn danzig was in black flag.

  • @lester5192 hahahaa what?

  • @zosothedestroyer never mind :/

  • @lester5192 I wanna know!!!!!

  • @zosothedestroyer it's an old school joke. not important.

  • @lester5192 ya....you lost me brah

  • @zosothedestroyer alright then. i just thought henry looked like glenn a lot here, during this era. not now.

  • @lester5192 wonderful old school joke

  • well i- im not from california. im from washington d.c.

  • @RicoMunster im sure he feels the same about you 2

  • @the8shit ummm........... ok i like the music but i don't like rollins as a person i don't see why you have to insult me

  • such a rad dude.

  • @ RicoMunster im sure he feels the same about you rollins blows!

  • Sub; Thanks for appreciating us for who we are, just regular uncommercial people, Cheers to you!

  • I do love watching old interviews with Rollins. Thanks putting this up.

  • @Subculture

Thanks for your positive comment, everyone is trying to be so punk, thinking they have to hate, thats not what its about. We all know that right? Thanks again

  • @Monoettes Exactly. There are bigger things to focus anger on in this world, especially in the UK at the moment. So, it's always appreciated when something genuinely cool comes along.

  • @Monoettes It's about Art and bring the truth in life and freedom. Some bands and sometimes myself just like to force our points by getting all into the audience face with a grip and anger flowing through us and within our eyes.

  • @Monoettes the anger should be directed towards the establishment that creates agendas and death..not people, that are on your side of the fence? typing that seemed soooooo givin, like people should already know that haha

  • hes a prick he wasn't even the first singer of black flag! i like black flag but i hate rollins

  • @trex6321 Yeah the first one was too high, in his own words, to continue. The second Reyes bitched out midshow and the third blew his voice. Have you read/listened to Get In the Van? It's really understandable where his attitude came from.

  • how can you hate someone you don't even know... you do know he doesn't even know or care you exist right?

  • @trex6321 no u dont like black flag ur fuckin fag

  • lol hes go a tape machine. i keep forgetting black flag is older than me by a few years.

  • @brettsir28 he is an asshole because of his long hair and muscles, thats why

  • @Afrosamurai532 hahaha

    true

  • is it just me, or is henry being intervwied by two weman how r sooo into him, and he doesnt see it ?

  • @supersoulsailor why are girls into his ugly ass??

  • @Afrosamurai532 his ass aint ugly man.... besids, hes got style and intesatiy, and some weman dig it. i know i do (dig it) in woman, somtimes

  • @Afrosamurai532 his ass aint ugly man.... besids, hes got style and intesatiy, and some woman dig it. i know i do (dig it) in woman, somtimes

  • Guns are illegal in England.Hahaha.It's a fucking bb gun! Not a handgun or a real riffle.

  • He seemed really vulnerable and sad when talking about being with someone.

  • Wait, I thought he liked The Damned!

  • All due respect, he has a little Rain Man going on in this interview.

  • Not stoned, crushed on Maija.

  • Is it just me, or is he stoned!!!

  • FUck.... he was and IS gorgeous. Body n soul!

  • 1:29

so thats where justin biebers hair flip came from...

  • I would let Henry Rollins wear me down!!!

  • Music is music. The musical roots and inspiration came from various British and American bands from the 1960s and 1970s. I can understand Henry Rollins disliking the Exploited and he probably experienced the Damned at this time (1983?) when they were past their early prime and sometimes sounded like a middle of the road rock band.

  • yeah, but to be fair, the punk scene was better in London

  • @glitcher999 were you around in say the 70's to experience it? I doubt that so there is no way to know.

  • @dallasdoby3 were you around in wwII to experience it? doubt it, but you would still say it was a terrible war. you dont have to experience things to know them. otherwise books and films would be pointless

  • @glitcher999 Wait, Punk music then a giant leap to war. nice.

  • @dallasdoby3 it doesnt matter the point is still valid. it was a useful example i used to help you understand the point i was making. that point being, that you don't have to experience something to know what it was like. you agree with that right?

  • he reminds me of a punk rock jim morrison on this one lol:)

still being henry though, no doubt

  • He did a hair flip.. epic LOL

    this guy is great !

  • wow it's weird to see henry with long hair

  • he seems so annoyed and uncomfortable

  • Hee hee dude Im Canadian

  • @BJORKAHOLIC

    What have you done lately?

  • @Monoettes a lot!

  • I gave Henry a hug once after a spoken word show lol he seemed freaked out! love BF have the bars in the same spot as ol' Henry!

  • Wattie is an asshole for shooting Henry.

Punk rockers shouldn't be dicks like that to others who are different.

  • Wattie is an asshole for shooting Henry.

  • "people had to go away to boarding school"???

  • He seems a lot more calm then the other interviews I've seen of him.

  • henry, the damned is not an awful band.

  • he said 1976 was '7 years ago' .... so this is in 1983

  • the exploited's singer tied to shoot them? he never said that on the book.

  • @fakeis751 with a bb gun for fuck sake he over exaggerated that

  • closet punks

  • FIrst off The Damned is the most UNDERRATED BAND EVER!!! And Henry is a big fan! That was strange to hear him rip on them. Maybe he decided to like them later on. Strange.

  • LOW S.O. MAAAAN. Such a youngster back then. Shake that purty hairs outcha eyes...

  • i wouldn't call the exploited bad, but then again, im not at all like henry

  • It's weird to see that he (Henry) can't seem to get his drive. If you see him nowadays he's so fluent in speaking and here he looks really blocked sometimes.

  • what a tool

  • no one can stand up to hank then and now

  • he seems so innocent at this point sounds like a child speaking...so honest
