  • i caught one yesterday now hes my pet hehe hes a beast and eats anything!

  • preatty lizard

  • we got these things as well as green anoles, the horny toad lizard, and the five lined

  • this is whats under my damn garage it sleeps on my dogs bed and sleeps beside brandy its cool but its a fat ass one to but im scared to get close to them because they might bite me

  • if its sleeping on your dogs bed i would get him out. they are toxic if they get eaten so keep your dogs away from it

  • well its gone now it only comes under the garage during the summer and its been the same one now for about 3 years but I remember the first time I saw it was when I was backing my mommas car out and I saw it just laying there and I thought it was a snake but anyway I tried to poke it with a stick and it flew off and one time I put a dinner round (dog food) and it ate it whole so I don't ever mess with it because it scares me and there is some blue racers on the patio

  • @gekperson the broadhead skink is nt poisines

  • I recently had one of these in my house. He was about 9-10 inches long. That one there looks quite a bit bigger.

  • Hi, thanks for watching!

Yeah, this was a really big one, I'm not sure but it did look like it was 10 inces or better.

    Take care.:)

  • I saw one of these today, he was about 10 inches long

  • Thanks for watching! These guys can get pretty big.

  • There are many of these broad head skinks where I live here in Florida. I'm curious if they eat other lizards. They are quite a bit larger than the other lizards living around my house.

  • how do i tell if my skink is a male or female

  • what type of skink do you have?

  • Wow what a great video, really clear and good quality for a youtube vid. Nice looking lizard too.

  • Hi! Thanks for watching. This was filmed using s Canon still camera with an awesome movie mode. Really nice zoom so I can get pretty clear shots of my subjects. Skinks are one of my favorites to photograph, they are beautiful animals!

  • The males are larger due to fighting over females, and have powerful jaws. I have caught some before and I have noticed that the males are EXTEMELY bite-happy. The females don't like biting, being fairly docile, and only do so if they are pregnant or have already laid eggs.

  • I have a pet, you can see her in a few of the Skink Paradise vids. She's a 5 lined I think. But, the female broadheads look so much like the 5 lined, it's hard to tell. She's a great pet! Eats out of my hand, has never shown any aggression towards anything except her food.lol

  • That's a male, and it seems to be a very healthy one at that. Their habitant range extents from Kansas, to Arkansas, to all the way over into the tip of Florida.

  • We see lots of these lizards here. I filmed one the other day at a little picnic area on side of the road. I've seen one in my garden recently, I hope there will be little ones soon! Surely this lovely guy found a mate.:)

    Thanks for watching!

  • You were right when you called this skink a boy. Male Broad Headed Skinks develop the red/orange color during the breeding season. You may see some babies soon, they are black with bright stripes down their body and a bright blue tail.

  • Cool, I thought it was a male, but I'm not an expert. I love having them around the yard. I hope we have lots of babies this season. It's hard to tell which are the Broad-head variety or the 5 lined.lol They look almost identicle as hatchlings.

    Thanks for watching.:)

  • This is probably a female broad headed skink, the female has a larger body in order to carry eggs. I saw one in my back yard yesterday and looked them up. They are quick in warm weather and can scare you when not expecting one.

  • Ok cool! Thanks for the info. I have a pet five-lined, she's my baby. She'll eat out of my hand. I see these big guys occasionally. This was a large one. Thanks for telling me how to tell the females from males.:)

Thanks for watching, habe a great weekend!
