Now I made a very big no no not drinking water for the first two weeks. Another important point to make is that ketosis requires water because you are breaking the fat molecules apart which requires water since lipids (fat) is water soluble.
LOL I am a heavy (water)drinker too, but it's good to be reminded of the need for water every day. You both always infuse your videos with such cute humor. I hope you never stop posting, this is too good to give up. Ooo would have loved to of tried one of your bars. Oh well maybe next time. :) See ya! lol..
It has been said lately by Dr. Oz (one of the most respected docs out there) that you don't really need to drink 8 glasses a day, religiously. If one has a balanced diet, he/she already has a lot of liquids via good foods (fresh veggies, fruits). Too much water is overkill. Most people get their liquids through crappy sodas. And drinking throughout the day as oppose to in one sitting is far better, glad you finally made that clear. Fiber + water combo is what helps constipation, not just water.
True, kali, but most people don't get enough water in the first place. It's why I keep a bottle by my side most of the time. I love it and it has served me well over the past four years. THANKS for your comment!

Well, if drinking 8 glasses of water is supposed to make you "die," then I should have been dead long ago. I drink 1-2 GALLONS of water a day. No, it is not "dangerous" to drink water. I seriously doubt it was water that killed that college student. He'd have to drink 10 gallons in one day--IMPOSSIBLE!
That kid died from a lot more than 64oz. It was during a water chugging contest and it diluted his electrolytes. It has happened a few times but it is very rare.
I like that...second only to oxygen! If we think of water as essential as air, then people will take it more seriously. GOOD LUCK in the drawing for my chocolate. :D

Was 300 in July, now 250 in January, another 80 to go! Another thing that I believe is important with water... it'll reduce the likelihood of kidney stones, commmon with low-carb diets, because it'll flush the junk out before it can form a stone. (I had two stones from previous times on the diet... but none when I've had lots of water). How did we, as a nation, get addicted to sugar? Anyway... thanks for your support and encouragement! You two are great!
GREAT JOB on your weight loss and KEEP IT GOING!!! I agree about the water flushing out your system to avoid kidney stones. I've NEVER had one and I'm sure it has a lot to do with my high water consumption. Sugar addiction? It couldn't have anything to do with the fact that sugar is in virtually EVERYTHING we eat and drink, can it? :)
They sure do put sugar in everything... even in meat! (what's with that?!} It's almost like a conspiracy between the sugar industry and the pharmaceutical companies (for insulin). (Ok... probably no conspiracy... but I sure wish there was a NO SUGAR line of foods... I would probably spend a lot for that! hmmmmm... business possibilities...).
Great Job getting all that water down so quickly. Your point was made. I've been getting recommitted after a little stumble during the holidays, and WATER is at the top of my list. Exercise and Low Carbing are right up there with the water. Gained about 7 lbs during the Christmas week and glad to say 5 of it is gone. This time I hope for good. I'm in my first week of livinlavidalowcarb and I've been taking two 32 oz bottles of water to work and drinking one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I'm making a lot of trips to the bathroom but I think of it as washing out my fat so I look forward to those trips! I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!
Wow! I know I couldn't stomach that much in such a short time! But good for you! I definitely need more plain ole water in my day. But also I have heard that it can be dangerous to drink too much water too quickly...(One radio station had a contest in 2007 and the woman died from water intoxication) Do you have any idea what that amount is and what the time frame is on that?
She died from HOLDING HER BLADDER IN and NOT from the water consumption. The media got that headline wrong, but what else is new? You'd have to drink about 10 gallons of water (which you COULDN'T do!) to have it come close to being "toxic."
I think you are going to float away!!! I drink a ton of water and go through a 5 gallon jug in a week just by myself! (Well my two little kids help a little) I aim to have to refill my water cooler at the end of every week! Keep up the good work my friend!
My biggest problem, is drinking water...I drink all day long,but it is ice tea or Diet Dr. Pepper...I need something that would kick start me into drinking water...I know water is better for you, but somehow, it is very difficult for me to get started on drinking what is best for me...HELP...!!!
You know what I do? I keep a big water bottle with me at all times. I have to drink all the water in that bottle before I allow myself to have another kind of drink (Diet Rite is my favorite!). Just keep sipping water all day and it becomes a good habit.

LOL I just poured me a 32 oz cup of flavored water before sitting down to watch your video. I started fresh and new on my low carb lifestyle on Jan. 1 and I weighed in tonight at my Tops group and lost 4 lbs. I just finished reading your book last night and loved it! I learned so much!!

On a serious note, if anyone follows Atkins/LLVLC correctly you will notice that Supplements+Nutrition are very important. In order for me to get all the recommended supplementation I drink at least a glass or two of water just to get the pills down - so thats another two glasses down!

Yes, water, water, water. Does a body good. I tend to drink much more in the summer and this was a good reminder to drink lots even during the winter months.

My daughter made a good point to me just a few minutes before I came and watched your video. A "glass" of water is technically 8 oz, isn't it? I mean, I know the more the better, but really, to get in the "recommended" amount, you'd need only drink the equivilant of about 3 soda's (20 oz). And that doesn't seem quite as scary or difficult as "8 GLASSES OF WATER". LOL Just a thought!

I was just wondering tonight when the next installment would be-thanks! It's all TRUE!!! Water is vital. It helps me w/ mental clarity! Think about it~the earth is 70% H2O and SO ARE WE! It should be a no brainer! One of the things that LC is all about is getting back to a healthier WOE and how much closer to nature can it be than pure H2O?

That's WILD how you can "CRAVE" water, but it's true. If your tongue is tingling from all the dryness, then you are already beyond thirsty. Don't ever let that happen.
As usual just love your video as they are so informative as well as entertaining. After watching I went straight to the fridge and took out my water bottle and started drinking. I need reminding some times as before LC I hardly drank anything other than coffee.
It's funny how I never really thought about or cared how much water was going into my body before I started livin' la vida low-carb. Now I'm constantly sipping for a whole host of reasons I am very happy to live with for the rest of my life. :)
Change that from 8 glasses to ten liters and the person may die from water toxicity. I drank a lot of water while losing weight too, but I feel your video needs a footnote about excess.
I think anyone watching could see I drank eight 8-ounce glasses of water which is a good MINIMUM for your daily intake. Like I said, I drank 2 gallons of water during my weight loss and even today I still drink about 1-2 gallons daily. As long as you don't hold back urination, you should be fine.
I just love your videos, I had Gastric Bypass Oct 23, 07 and I live in this little town called Payette, Id and I have to drive 100 or so miles to get the things I need, it's horriable, I no longer eat sugar, fat, carbs, carbonation, or caffine, dont use a straw or anything like that, I went two health food stores to buy your bar and no luck I must go the 100 miles, I would love to try it, any other low card no carb high protein stuff? Actually, I don't correspond with the "people from Atkins" Nutritionals, Inc. other than in a business relationship when they have sponsored my blog in the past. I know several Atkins researchers and have met and interviewed Veronica Atkins, but that's the extent of it.
ahh ok :) Years ago we tried to import some of their bars and they all came in lil broken pieces when they arrived in South Africa. I really feel like immigrating - you americans are so privelidged to be able to find the products on shelves. I once went to a health shop here and ask them if they have any low-carb products. The assistant just look at me and said, no sir this is a health store we dont sell cars... I rest my case *g*

I think you are going to float away!!! I drink a ton of water and go through a 5 gallon jug in a week just by myself! (Well my two little kids help a little) I aim to have to refill my water cooler at the end of every week! Keep up the good work my friend!

My biggest problem, is drinking water...I drink all day long,but it is ice tea or Diet Dr. Pepper...I need something that would kick start me into drinking water...I know water is better for you, but somehow, it is very difficult for me to get started on drinking what is best for me...HELP...!!!

You know what I do? I keep a big water bottle with me at all times. I have to drink all the water in that bottle before I allow myself to have another kind of drink (Diet Rite is my favorite!). Just keep sipping water all day and it becomes a good habit.

I LOVE watching your videos. My husband and I often watch them together. I've learned so much from them.
I like True Orange in my water as well as True Lemon. It's nice to have a little flavor without any sweetner!

LOL I just poured me a 32 oz cup of flavored water before sitting down to watch your video. I started fresh and new on my low carb lifestyle on Jan. 1 and I weighed in tonight at my Tops group and lost 4 lbs. I just finished reading your book last night and loved it! I learned so much!!
Thank you so much for your encouragement and support while I lose weight and hopfully start looking great in 2008!

I try just about every one of them I can get my hands on, always looking for new ones. It's amazing how small the selection gets when you try to find a protein bar that's also low carb. I love you guys. "entertaining and informative" is certainly accurate. I have lost 120 pounds so far and only 25 more to go. Low carb is working for me. Thank you for sharing your own experiences and informing me. Any chance you guys will cover the "excess skin" issue? It is becoming an issue with me :)

On a serious note, if anyone follows Atkins/LLVLC correctly you will notice that Supplements+Nutrition are very important. In order for me to get all the recommended supplementation I drink at least a glass or two of water just to get the pills down - so thats another two glasses down!

Yes, water, water, water. Does a body good. I tend to drink much more in the summer and this was a good reminder to drink lots even during the winter months.
Yippers (sorry couldn't resist), your "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Bars" sound yummy. Chocolate & Raspberry - ummmm! Definately a winning combination.

My daughter made a good point to me just a few minutes before I came and watched your video. A "glass" of water is technically 8 oz, isn't it? I mean, I know the more the better, but really, to get in the "recommended" amount, you'd need only drink the equivilant of about 3 soda's (20 oz). And that doesn't seem quite as scary or difficult as "8 GLASSES OF WATER". LOL Just a thought!
P.S. Please put my name in the hat for those candy bars! hehehe

I was just wondering tonight when the next installment would be-thanks! It's all TRUE!!! Water is vital. It helps me w/ mental clarity! Think about it~the earth is 70% H2O and SO ARE WE! It should be a no brainer! One of the things that LC is all about is getting back to a healthier WOE and how much closer to nature can it be than pure H2O?

It's funny how I never really thought about or cared how much water was going into my body before I started livin' la vida low-carb. Now I'm constantly sipping for a whole host of reasons I am very happy to live with for the rest of my life. :)

Change that from 8 glasses to ten liters and the person may die from water toxicity. I drank a lot of water while losing weight too, but I feel your video needs a footnote about excess.

I think anyone watching could see I drank eight 8-ounce glasses of water which is a good MINIMUM for your daily intake. Like I said, I drank 2 gallons of water during my weight loss and even today I still drink about 1-2 gallons daily. As long as you don't hold back urination, you should be fine.

I just love your videos, I had Gastric Bypass Oct 23, 07 and I live in this little town called Payette, Id and I have to drive 100 or so miles to get the things I need, it's horriable, I no longer eat sugar, fat, carbs, carbonation, or caffine, dont use a straw or anything like that, I went two health food stores to buy your bar and no luck I must go the 100 miles, I would love to try it, any other low card no carb high protein stuff? Actually, I don't correspond with the "people from Atkins" Nutritionals, Inc. other than in a business relationship when they have sponsored my blog in the past. I know several Atkins researchers and have met and interviewed Veronica Atkins, but that's the extent of it.

ahh ok :) Years ago we tried to import some of their bars and they all came in lil broken pieces when they arrived in South Africa. I really feel like immigrating - you americans are so privelidged to be able to find the products on shelves. I once went to a health shop here and ask them if they have any low-carb products. The assistant just look at me and said, no sir this is a health store we dont sell cars... I rest my case *g*
