I think this young producer try to show allegorically almost all ingredients of democracy such as right to elect (choose decision makers), fixed term in office (the father is authoritative until the daughter reaches adulthood), right of minorities (daughters right to love another person), independent political parties and media (the journalist), independent judiciary (the mother)etc. He also vented out his feeling (may be subconsciously) concerning the state of democratic leaders
