Remote surgery is a reality. The surgeon has to be nearby anyway so he can change to traditional methods anytime. That means that far distances are a non-starter. Hologram technology has nothing to do with that. The Army is a terrorist organization and should be condemned by any conscious human.

pretty cooll and pretty late in terms of development... get a webcam, a transparent plastic film and u fold round, a projector projecting the image onto the circular-folded screen and it will look as a hologram, yet it is not quite so..lol

R2D2 could project a better hologram than that. By golly, this is more of a cheesy Logan's Run type hologram. We're still a long way off from the Doctor in Voyager, yessiree!

True, but Logan's Run visual effects were ahead of its time, and were pretty damn good.

No argument there, Matthewsaini. They were good for the time. Even if the City didn't look real, it was charming. I think the biggest mistake was using real water in the model. As Isaac Asimov pointed out in his novelization of "Fantastic Voyage," no matter how much you enlarge a ripple, it never looks like a wave.

I was really thinking of the tech. Those were real film holographs they used for Logan's surrogates. If you look closely, you can see the tape they used to form them into cylinders.
