  • That is hella cool

  • duuuuuuuuuuuuuuude! that was so fucking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the mp3 was super shit but who gives a shit! dude i so wish i could have seen that live! they must have just changed their name from condum to sweet children at that point............ was pretty early........

  • @ 0:58 OMIGOD! nice hair!! rofl

  • @AnarchyThroughChaos No! Thats from the EP 'Sweet Children' recorded a bit before Kerplunk was released first!

  • Fucktards....just because a song is released on a certain date....doesn't mean that it wasn't written and recorded live before that date. Oldhamburger has spoken.

  • Thumbs Up if you also think the old drummer looks like Krist Novoselic Especially at 1:15

  • only true greenday fans remember back when they were "sweet childen".. I loved going to thier show

  • @HumanZoo22 i am a true fan, thing is.., i was born in '93 so i don't remember that.., although i knew they were named sweet children way back.

  • very good pictures of this video .. I love ..... green day strength

  • What difference does it make if its Green Day or Sweet Children, they are the same band after all. It's not like credit is being given to a completely different band.

  • @KnightofNever13 no actually.. they're not. new drummer. old got kicked out plus mike didn't always play when they were sweet children so it does matter............

  • 0:26 lol tre looks like a kid

  • @roe1203 American Idiot is definatly a punk album ,21st Century Breakdown is more rock i dont relaly see it as alternative.

  • green day = sweet children 4-ever <3 ^^

  • I wish Green Day would do a tour, and ONLY play pre-Dookie songs

  • billie is cute but in some pics he looks like he is thirteen

  • and now you can expect to see Emily's Army at Gilman.

    stay fresh, green day. :D

  • And Green Day are sellouts????!!! I THINK NOT!!!!!people need to do there research.

  • at one point...mike looked kinda like tom delgone and mark hoppus(Blink 182)

  • Well, Green Day originally started out as Sweet Children, with Billie Joe (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Mike Dirnt (Bass/Backing Vocals), and John Kiffmeyer (Drums). So their first song was "Sweet Children"... In 1990, they changed their name from "Sweet Children" to "Green Day". Green Day's first song was 1,000 Hours, on the 1,000 Hours LP.

  • @VideoScope45 1,000 Hours was a 7" not an LP.

  • I am proud as a Teen, to say that I have loved Green Day since I was 5. 9years later, I listen to both old and new songs. It's sad to know basically none of my friends like Green Day. I would kill to back in time to see them as Sweet Children and compare! I'd prob also kill to get some bromance with Billie. ;D

  • I wanna that sound again!!!!!!!

  • 0:20.....Kiffmeyer?........also Green Day is Sweet Children for retards who are confused.

  • For all of you people saying it's Green Day, he says "Hey we're sweet children" at the beginning...

  • Comment removed

  • billie jou en una interview dijo ahora cuando toco no siento lo q sentia antes en gilman street..

  • this is grren day!!! =)

  • This song is not from the time the band was called Sweet Children, it's from Green Day. i knew and saw both bands 20 plus years ago.

  • @killedbyboobies i think it was written when they were sweet children, and released shortly after the name change.

  • @beastyboy1990 Yeah, you're right. They changed the name after the actual EP release through Lookout. You can even hear him say "Alright we're Sweet Children and this first song is called 1000 hours"

  • @killedbyboobies how can you argue when he says right into the mic "we are sweet children"?

  • @killedbyboobies so if its not from when they were called sweet children, then why does billie say "alright were sweet children and our first song is 1000 hours."?

  • @killedbyboobies it say hey we're sweet children at the beginning

  • @killedbyboobies

But this performance was before they ever released an EP. As Billie says at the start "Hi, we're Sweet Children, this first songs called a 1000 hours"

Sweet Children changed their name to Green Day just days before the 1000 hours EP was to be released

  • @killedbyboobies At the beginning of the goddamn song "Hi, we're Sweet Children. This first song's called 1000 Hours!"

  • @killedbyboobies it's february 1989, they changed to Green Day in april 1989, just before they released the 1000 hours EP, so it's still Sweet Children :D

  • They had a totally different drummer then...

  • @MissMusic50 I

     Thought so

  • @MissMusic50 Its still pretty good even without Tre

  • no u idiots sweet children isnt fake Green Day started along time ago in about 89 was there first record but eventually when they were younger Billie dropped out of school 2 keep playn with the band at a barbq pit tht his mom worked at after his dad died and hey some more info u kno tht blue guitar Billie loves so much tht was the last gift his dad ever gave him b4 he died the only one he would play with when he was younger** READ UP ABOUT IT NO FAKE **

  • I thought they diidnt have tre' when they were still Sweet Children

  • @hollywoodsamson they did there for a while @ the end

  • @hollywoodsamson they didn't...that's a mistake to have pics of Tre here, it was still john

  • if only i could use a time machine and go back and warn them about their horrable future....

  • 1:36 -> Billie's epic face xD

  • ok maybe it was made when they were sweet children but they came out with the cd 1000 hours in 1989. I read books on them.

  • billie joe was so young here

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA mike at 0:26 ! EPIC !! why are there so many pics of them at different stages ? its when mike had long hair, then bleached white, then black, then all floppy and stuff ...

  • Dude. I own the cd. The cd is called 1000 smoothed out slappy hours. Google it. I can guarantee you will find the song on that cd. It's Green Day. I promise you.

  • @ramoneschick62393 indeed. but it was written when they were called sweet children, and this performance was recorded when they were called sweet children

  • @beastyboy1990 ok maybe it was made when they were sweet children but they came out with the cd 1000 hours in 1989. I read books on them. What does it matter anyways? Sweet Children IS Green Day. They just changed thier name to Green Day because of pot. Either way they are who they are.

  • @ramoneschick62393 The cd is called 1,039 smoothed out slappy hours. I dont have cd but i know the real name !!! HOW ?!

  • @ramoneschick62393 The CD isn't called "1000 smoothed out slappy hours" is called "1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours" And is a compilation combines their debut album 39/Smooth and their first two EPs Slappy and 1,000 Hours, when they were "Sweet Children". To be precise :D

  • @GDookie16 finally someone who knows what he's talking about ;D

  • @GDookie16 Not quite. They never released music as "Sweet Children". Right before their first EP was to be released, they changed their name to Green Day in spite of Larry Livermore's objection.

  • @ramoneschick62393 the song was written before the name change. then they changed the name and kept the song

  • @ramoneschick62393 yeah dumbass

  • @ramoneschick62393 1,000 Smoothed Out/Slappy hours is a collection of Green Day's material released originally as 7" singles. Their first 7" was called 1,000 Hours, I guess you can say that's why that CD title doesn't make too much sense. They most likely carried on songs from Sweet Children to the newly titled Green Day. Google it.

  • @ramoneschick62393 You're right but 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours is a collection of material they released as 7" EP/Singles as well as the 39/Smooth LP (first official debut). 1,000 Hours EP was recorded while they were called Sweet Children then released on vinyl under the new title Green Day. No doubt, that they carried out songs from Sweet Children to Green Day.

  • @ramoneschick62393 10,39/smoothed out slappy hours was a mix of all of their LPs and CD. Slappy, 1000 hours, and 39/smooth, so I spose the LP 1000 hours was originally released as Sweet Children, and later re-released as Green Day

  • @ramoneschick62393 Its actually called 1039/ Smoothed out slappy hours

  • @ramoneschick62393 songs can be made before the album there recorded on and can be played to like time of your life was before nimrod and having a blast was before dookie

  • @ramoneschick62393 thats not the original name, its actually 39/smooth, and 1000 hours was a separate album, and reprise later combined them along with a 3rd

  • @ramoneschick62393 1039 sosh dickwhat

  • @MrAdeVogel .....hmm funny. they should probably fix that......... people are gonna look that up and be fucked up confused.................

  • @ramoneschick62393 on my offical Kerplunk CD it has 3 or 4 tracks at the end that were marked as recorded when the band was called Sweet Children

  • Mike and Billie look so different

  • This is like the Song of Solomon, my goodness.

  • 1:14 OMG! MIKE! ._.

  • This is not rare. You can buy the cd 1000 hours anywhere. Probably not at Walmart but music stores you can. That's where I got my copy and this song is on there.

  • @ramoneschick62393 It's rare cause it's be Sweet Children, not Green Day you retard.

  • 0:59 omfg!!!!!!!!

  • these are old pictures

  • omg ! I saw there old drummer!

  • mejor conosidos como green day

  • 1:26 xDDDDDD very good^^

  • such a long hair once xD

  • i've seen some pics of john! and i have to say that he is hotter that tre!

  • oh no you did not just say that!:P

  • wowzerz

  • why is tre cool on pictures of the band sweet children use pictures with John Kiffmeyer

  • there's videos of them in 1988. it's on the official green day concert channel: greendayconcerts

  • i saw that, but im pretty certain they're fake, unforttunately.

  • it's the official channel for it, so i'm certain they're not fake

  • thats not the official channel. its just the fact you can't see them makes me doubt it genuineness.

  • you could never see them in their old videos. it's always dark. that's how gilman street was.

  • true, but so many people will try to make fake videos to get more views, I think thats one of them.

  • don't be narrow minded.

  • none of their videos are fakes.

  • ok, i just don't believe everything i see on the internet.

  • you can tell when something is fake, and i'm convinced that those aren't.

  • fair enough.

  • Yeah, they're not fake

  • AMAZING!

  • cool

  • is it just me or mike looks hott with that blonde hair lol..:D ohh..and love this recording..I just love the vibe and sound of old recordings...XD wow..and is that mike at 2:28..?

  • haha...yeah..but his voice is smexy..lol

  • 1:13 xD mikes hair

  • 1:26 lolz

  • this isnt sweet children. this song is from 1039/smoothed out slappy hours. thats green days first album.

  • this was one of the first songs they wrote, which would be about 88/89 time, before they changed theyr name to green day. the song originally appear on the 'sweet children' EP, which was put on the end of kerplunk. and billie joe introduces the band as sweet children in this video.

  • green day's first name was sweet children and billie wrote this before they became green day

  • billie joe wrote and recorded his first song at 12 years old! So impresive!

  • actually, he was seven. he recorded his first song called, "look for love". the young billie joe interview in the beginning of "maria" was an interview that was from, "look for Love"

  • Comment removed

  • billie joe sounds so different, his voice changed a LOT after he got old

  • yeah but not in a bad way..:D

  • IF it's performed in 89 it can't be the oldest xD They started in 87...

  • its not their oldest concert, they had concerts before then, but it is the oldest recorded concert i have ever come across.

  • 1:12 !!!!!

    WTF!! MIKE?! LOL!!

    <3GreenDay<3

  • they were 15 that time right?

  • 17 in 1989. Impressive for been that young

  • Green Days old drummer at 0:21

  • al sobrante :)

  • this isnt that rare i bought it on itunes...

  • omg they look SOOOO young!

  • they ARE so young

XD XD XD XD XD XD XD

    AND CUTE 2

I CANT BELIVE THATS TRE AT 0:12

  • i personally think the song 86 sounds better than anything that they've released in the past 7 years....

  • I think all the albums in the 90's sound better then what they made last 7 years

  • OMG...I absolutely LOVE this song!! I do love the new stuff - but I equally (if maybe not even a little more) love the really old stuff!! This was awesome. Oh, and Good Grief....could Mike Dirnt have gotten ANY skinnier back then?? A strong wind could have blown him away!! LOL!!

  • punkrockjunkie101 is so right also all u american idiot fans shut up u have know idea how good there old songs r also for the american idiot fans again american idiot was not there first album

  • this song is not stupid at all. All the old GD love songs never sounded sappy to me unlike a lot of the love songs today XP

  • lol at 1:11

  • Well, I don't think so. I love this song. but according to Billie (I believe. I read it somewhere, and you can't always trust what you read) it's one of his least favorite too because of how sappy it is.

  • I've written songs of this kind, there is no actual girl that he's singing about, it's just whatever pretty poetry pops into your head, and hopefully it gets a good tune.

  • And actually, it was a radio interview he said it in, he agrees with me entirely.

  • Dude, just shut up...

This song owns all of their new stuff.

  • their new stuff is better than this

  • disagree with you there mate, the new stuff is awesome, but you cant beat the classics like this

  • I mean Slappy Hours is a ok album.i didnt love it but Kerplunk and Dookie were way better in my opinion and you can't say American Idiot is horrible album.

  • you fuckin retarded

  • FUCKIN RIGHT!!!

  • Actually he's singing about one of his sisters friend whom Billie fell in love with and wrote this song.

  • was that mike with the uber long hair

  • his hair was regular... look at the 2007 icarly shows and look at spencer's hair. that's what mike's hair looked like

  • WTF? iCarly? Is that what Green Day fans have become? People who watch iCarly?

    Oh, boy...

  • its fuckin pathetic i know it makes me sick

  • Dude. I see people comparing Green Day with the Jonas Brothers. Literally makes me gag. It's sick

  • that is disgusting

  • Agreed

  • seriously I saw and add that said who's hotter Green Day or the Jonas brothers how can anyone compare Green Day with the Jonas Brothers. Green Day is nothing like them at all other than being 3 boys in a band but music wise and stuff Green Days hott there not Green Days music Rocks and they suck.

  • I've seen that. That makes me SO ANGRY.

I agree with you. Green Day is NO WHERE CLOSE to being anything like the Jonas Brothers.

The Jonas Brothers are a poor excuse for a band. Kevin is a funny guy and all, (i'm saddened by the fact I know their names) but besides that, their a group of 3 boys owned by a company that appeals to a bunch of 5 year olds. Green Day are nonconformists. Even though they're for all ages, they're not all about flowers and candy. :/

  • green day's a rock band and the jonas brothers are made for girls entertainment and making money

  • i strongly agree with you... i mean how can the jonas be compared to green day the jonas brothers are gays who try to rock stars... JONAS BROTHERS SUCK!!!! GREEN DAY ROCKS!!!!!!

  • at 0:59 billie's hair looks awesome!1

  • woow rare find

  • dude sweet children never had tre cool in it so y did you up those pics up because by the time tre was there they changed there name to green day

Kurplunk! was part sweet chilren part GReen DAy but it never had tre as the drummer it had Al

    tre did debt till Dookie!

comment on mt page if you disagree

    KAT

  • i know sweet children never had tre in them, that dosen't stop me putting up pictures of him for this vid though. kerplunk was entirely green day, and entirely tre, apart from the last 4 songs, which were john.

  • Kerplunk was 100% Green Day. On a later release, they just included the Sweet Children EP.

  • 2000 light years away and the last 4 songs are not tre.

  • Yeah, 2,000 Light Years away was with Tre, but the last four songs were from the EP.

  • yeaa lol for some reason i thought someone said they gave someone else credit for that song in a documentary thing i saw

  • scratch that it was tre

  • 1:37 lol

  • what cd may i ask...?

  • cool song!

also lovin' the old school pics of Green Day! you did a nice job with this video

  • you can download the audio on GREEN DAY AUTHORITY free of cost

  • john kiffmeyer is an exellent drummist. he doesnt really get as much recognition as he deserves, but hes as good as tre imo

  • heyy in 0:07, is billie joe playin blue? i cant tell but i think he is

  • i liked early green day better than new

  • its not rare i have it :D

  • Love the pictures!!!!! ^^ (and the song of course!!)

  • GREEN DAY!!!

  • dude your wrong tre cool wasnt in the band during that time i think

  • yeah thats what I thought. Tre Cool joined in 1990 after the original drummer (John Kiffmeyer) went off to college and didn't come back. this is from 1989 so it would've been John Kiffmeyer on drums.

  • and do you know what al sobrante si doing now ?
