  • It's all fun till you get a ticket for noise ordinance law...

  • But remember jeeps.

    Just

    Empty

    Every

    Pocket

  • HELL NO IF YOU TRAVEL ON FREESWAY UP HILL IT'S A BITCH

I JUST PUT MY MUFFLER BACK ON TODAY IT PERFORMS ALOT BETTER

  • Is it bad on the motor if you cut off the muffler and just leave it at the cat?

  • @kaelinrothwell It all depends, engines need back pressure to run properly. If you intend to cut off after the cat and leave it alone, then it can over time damage the engine. But temp. it will not damage it. Are you just looking for a more agressive sound or power?

  • @offroadingjeep im looking more for the sound i dont really need power cause its not a xj im trying to make into a crawler... but i would like to get one thats in better shape than mine to make into a crawler

  • @kaelinrothwell Ok, you just need to find a high flow muffler. I havent posted a vid on the new muffler I haved on it. It is a Thrush turbo. Nice agressive sound at idle, powerful when driving but not overwhelming. It all comes down to price vs quality.

  • @offroadingjeep alright i dont know though cause i am starting to want to sell my xj and get a prerunner cause where i live there are more trails to haul ass on than to go crawl...

  • @offroadingjeep Engines don't need back pressure, they just have to be tuned to run without it, taking off backpressure leans it out, if a car has OBD-II it'll diagnose and compensate it by riching up the fuel/air mix, if you have a carb all you need is a screwdriver and patience to get it to the right mix, pre OBD-II FI systems need to be dyno tuned to get it right. oh and the cat provides back pressure by the way.

  • @RidX4Ricers that is true for high rpm applications, but for everyday use, it will burn out valves. Backpressure assists in low rpm torque, but limits high end power. Yes, the cat does provide back pressure. If you use your car for everyday use, leave the exhaust alone. If you race, get headers.

  • sounds good i ran with mine off for 3 or so months

  • @gman586 ahahahaha pos

  • drive it about 120 miles with no muffler and have fun buying a o2 sensor go ahead and call advance and see how much your wallet is goin to get raped

  • Is that street legal to drive with no muffler? Because I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 straight 6 and I was just wondering if I should do this or buy a less restrictive exhaust. Also, with NO muffler, do you still get a HP & MPG increase?

    Thanks, and thoughts anyone?

    btw: NICE sound quality!

  • @zachattack7 It's one of those grey areas. Since we no longer have E-Check in Ohio, I wont get in trouble. But for sound violation, it varies by state and township.

Didn't keep it off long. Neighboors were getting mad about the noise. HP increase deff. mgp - meh...

I would purchase a muffler or exhaust system, the way that they are set up lessens the restriction while still allowing enough back pressure to run smooth and increase horse power and milage.

  • @offroadingjeep Thanks I appreciate the info. And now I think I will just get a more free flowing exhaust so that I do no lose back pressure because that would make for sluggish acceleration.

  • JEEP O|||||O

And as for that ga-- sorry, guy's ford...

    Fix

    Or

    Repair

    Daily

  • screw you buddy, no Cherokee is a clunker!

  • Touche'

  • And what would you be driving if mine is such a clunker.

  • Yup.. the jeep sound with no muffler thats right! now watch my jeep!
