I disagree, Stereolabdream...It is utterly relevant; and further we see it happening all around us. I am now having conversations with my fellow christians arguing the veracity of Scripture and the truthfulness of God and those He used to set down those things for "those who believe". Why? Because they have bought into the relativistic lie that the Bible is "good, so far as it goes" , i.e., so long as it doesn't directly contradict the accepted RELATIVE standards of our current society.
Sorry Schaeffer, and those who still adhere to his philosophy-for it is that, not theology-but the saltiest of the salt comes from those who are moral and ethical WITHOUT the belief in a paternalistic God.
This question seems frivolous but is not intended as such, but, if you have an utter faith and belief in a "Christian" view of a universal deity, why would you worry about such issues?-they would be irrelevencies-utter irrelevencies-for those who are utterly sure of a universal "good" God...
If that God holds us accountable for the decisions we make in this life then we should naturally tremble when we see the condition of much of the church in the western world.
I am not a 'leader in the church' as such,
As for me and my house we shall Lovingly Draw the Line and LIVE the Full view of Scripture...with tears and Love!!

Indeed, thanks for posting.
Without a belief in the God of the Bible, I see no possibility of someone having morals and ethics.
Witness:a man whom kills ANIMALS is labeled as a potential threat to PEOPLE in the future.
Witness: a man whom performs ABORTIONS is doing a social service.
If people can't see that "making up what you feel or think is right is dangerous, better go back and study.
Hitler had nutty beliefs too. As a type of the
